Hide morning hours on your Google Calendar to stop wasting space on your screen for empty hours.

Image from store Hide morning in Calendar
Description from store When's the last time you had a meeting at 3am? Empty hours are irrelevant and waste space on your screen. This extension lets you minimize the range of hours in the morning on your Google Calendar, so you only see the title of events during those hours. How does it work? 1. Click “Add to Chrome” to install the extension for free from the official Chrome Web Store. 2. Reload or open your Google Calendar in Chrome: https://www.google.com/calendar 3. In the Day/Week/3 or 7 days view, you will notice a new small gray handle at the top of the times on the left. Drag it down to hide morning hours. If you want to show those hours again, simply click the gray hidden hours at the top of the times on the left. Who is it for? When you use your calendar for work or school, you can set a range of working hours in the day that fits your schedule and remove the unnecessary white space during the times you're out of office or sleeping. This extension currently works if the language of Google Calendar is set to English (US). Support for more languages coming soon. Feel free to ask us any questions or tell us what you think. Contact at www.raphaelschaad.com. Thanks for giving us a rating, if you like your clean new calendar look.

  • (2022-05-02) Juan Alonso: Does what it advertises well, but without support for hiding evening hours it's not that useful for me. The visual space where it shows "midnight - 04:30" could also be reduced.
  • (2022-03-10) Simon Williams: Brilliant. Works well with the language set to English (UK). Thank you!
  • (2022-03-01) Renee Finan: Great, useful product. I was so frustrated with having to scroll every time I opened my calendar. This extension rocks. Make sure to reload your calendar/restart your computer once it downloads or if you have issues. You can get rid of the "Bedtime Coach" ad by clicking it and declining to try it. Thanks for this time/frustration saver!
  • (2022-03-01) Peter Löfström: It does what it´s supose to do, so happy with that. _BUT!_ It adds an ad / commercial for "Bedtime coaching" into my calendar as whole day activity. And the link in the "information box" directs to a broken page. Probably just the devs. way of making money from this. But, still, sneaky!
  • (2022-02-27) Jessica Buckland: Very quick and easy to install and get running. Disappointed that you can't use it for evenings, it would be great if you could set it up for 6 pm - 7 am rather than the default midnights so you can just see your working hours
  • (2022-02-02) Dale Walker: Used to work great but no longer. Have English (UK) setup so maybe that's why it is. Tried reinstalling and everything.
  • (2022-01-26) Stefaan D'Hauwers: Excellent ! I have been looking for this solution for a while. Thank you !
  • (2022-01-09) David: At the moment, I am failing to make it work. It doesn't do anything at all. But I see from the reviews that other people have had the same problem, but later they made it work. I am an optimimist. Maybe next time I restart my computer, it will work, but at this moment it is completely useless. (Later that day) No. My optimism was misplaced. It just doesn't work, but I shall wait a while before removing it, in case you suggest a solution. UPDATE A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. I have tried everything including refreshing the page, changing the language from UK English to US English, restarting the computer and removing and re-installing the extension, but it does absolutely nothing. The empty morning hours from midnight to breakfast time are as visible as they always were. I suspect it might be hindered by another extension I am using in connection with Google calendar. I can't think of any other reason for it to not work.
  • (2021-12-15) C Eller: December 2021 it doesn't hide any hours.
  • (2021-10-16) Isabelle Lim: Loveee this feature! However, it doesn't work well with another feature - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/custom-calendar-backgroun/acjecbgflnhmeldadcbblhfdimhifpki?utm_source=chrome-ntp-icon because I don't like the white background. When I uninstall this feature, your feature works well. But when I want to customise the background using that feature, your feature unfortunately doesn't work. 😭 It would be awesome if it works well with each other. ◡̈ Esp for those who wanna customise their calendar backgrounds like me. Hope you take this into consideration for upgrading. Thanks.
  • (2021-10-11) Matthew Orsborn: It works. Pity can't also cut out a few night hours. But does what it says on the tin.
  • (2021-09-28) Tessa Levy: This is great! However, I wish the extension worked for the calendar widget/pop out (not sure what you call it, sorry, not a techie) on Gmail. That's the calendar I use most, the narrow column on Gmail. If the extension could also be used for that, please let me know! Also, I second or eighth, the others' comments about hiding the evening hours. It would be nice to have that option as well. Thank you! Your efforts are appreciated!
  • (2021-09-14) Jerry Lin: Would be perfect if you could also hide night hours or specify the hours to hide by typing them in. Sleek appearance, though.
  • (2021-09-09) Dániel Papp: This bar, that it puts on the week view also appears on the months view. That's a huge bug there...
  • (2021-09-04) Joseph Guo: Works well. Would be great if you can change the color (say for darkmode). I have the Dark Reader Chrome extension installed, and it couldn't change the color of this this extension to black.
  • (2021-09-02) GIPeN: It hides the scroll but doesn't give more space, events still use the same height with unused white space at the bottom, so not much difference
  • (2021-08-25) Hannah Warren: Thank you for creating this! Agreed that expanding features to hide evening hours would be helpful too, but I AM able to hide morning hours on the day view, so relatively few complaints. Thanks again!
  • (2021-08-11) Steve Klein: It adds a feature that should be built-in. Does exactly what it promises. I wish there was also an option to hide nighttime hours. I only use Google Calendar for work, so I almost never anything scheduled before 8AM or after 6PM. When I right-clicked the extension icon, I saw an option to "enable bedtime mode." What does that do?
  • (2021-07-30) Adria Kyne: Exactly what I was looking for. The feature that shows events during the hidden hours is very clever, too.
  • (2021-07-16) Proxied: Not sure why, but it's not working in weekly view, even after reloading and reinstalling. The bar appears, but I can't drag it
  • (2021-07-14) Taufiq Alibhai: This is such a great extension to clean up the calendar daily view. The implementation is perfect. It does what it says and simple to use! Works amazingly!
  • (2021-07-05) 林煒清: nice !! it make calendar cleaner.
  • (2021-06-20) Айрат Халитов: Помню, что раньше эта функция была встроена в календарь, потом ее вырезали оттуда. Сейчас нашел это расширение - удобно. Только вечернее время не скрывается (раньше можно было). Можете добавить?
  • (2021-05-02) Danny Guevara: It works great thank you! Do you know if there is a way to do the same but for night hours?
  • (2021-04-27) Peter Liddicoat: Works on 'Day' or 'Week' view, happy days
  • (2021-04-22) Roel de Vos: Raphael, why is this extension free? Using it for some years, love it!
  • (2021-04-18) Johan Sheridan: I would like to echo the requests to start the tool before midnight and to make it appear slimmer, on a single line instead of two lines. It would be nice to customize color to black, white, or whatever instead of gray. I also don't know if it's an issue with my browser settings, but I think it would truly button up the extension if the activator on the left column would disappear when you scroll down. for me, it remains stuck at the top even when you go down to the end of the day, like a "frozen" row in microsoft excel. it would be much nicer and smoother if it stayed tucked away when you scroll off.
  • (2021-04-16) Jonathan Arreola: Exactly what I was looking for, thank you! For those that it wasn't working for in 2018, the 2019 update seems to have fixed it.
  • (2021-04-08) Михаил Крылов: Да это же гениально! Спасибо!
  • (2021-03-26) Frank Whitestone: Works well. but would be great if you could hide the evening and expand the daytime
  • (2021-03-06) Al Stepan: Це працює!!! Чудово!
  • (2021-02-26) Hashim Mteuzi: This works well to get rid of all the wasted space before my workday starts. I will give five stars if we can also hide 'evening hours', using a similar slider mechanism. Ideally I'd like to see my active working hours expand to fill my viewport. As it currently works, the inactive morning hours are hidden, but over half of my screen is filled with empty white space.
  • (2021-01-26) Charlie Arehart: Works great, on Chrome as well as on Edge (Version 88). I do lament that it only handles mornings. Would love to do the evenings as well, but I suppose there's a technical reason that the dev can't or won't. I certainly appreciate it for what it does. Thanks.
  • (2021-01-11) C. D. Trumino: It doesn't work at all
  • (2021-01-09) Odem Arad: Based on the reviews I could really use this extension. Was disappointed it doesn't support Hebrew.
  • (2020-10-31) John Beck: I use a rolling 5 day view mostly, works perfectly. Thanks!
  • (2020-10-22) Chris Haines: This is a good start, though I find myself not using it because it takes a bit too much screen space (sized like an hour time slot, 2 rows). Even though it has two rows taken up, if there are two events inside that time interval, the text display still only consumes one row and says "2 events" versus the actual name of the two events, but for one event you get the name of the actual event. So there is no value to the top row beside "midnight". My suggestion is to tweak this tool to be one row high only, by eliminating the "midnight" row which is wasted space. My second suggestion is to have a way to snap this view open and back to its previous view without having to drag each time. That would allow a peek at earlier events as needed and back to the user setting without redoing drag and drop each time. Thx
  • (2020-10-20) I had to read the reviews to find out how to use this extension. But once I figured out to look for the subtle gray bar and drag it to where I want to start my day, it works perfectly!
  • (2020-10-15) Jessica Baqui: It worked perfectly! Thanks a lot!
  • (2020-10-11) Director Brillianto: Waste fo time. It does not work anymore, even after setting the language to English (US). Got an annoying advert for bedtime coach instead. Google, please take this off!
  • (2020-10-05) Bob Cotton: As mentioned before, would be nice to hide the evening hours as well. Also, this does not work on the "sidebar" calendar that is available in Gmail/Drive. Those two additions would make it perfect.
  • (2020-10-03) Danley L: How do I hide a certain period of time (03:00 A.M. to 09:00A.M for instance) instead of hiding time from midnight only?
  • (2020-09-19) Kaitlin Smalley: Hey thanks, this works great - one piece of feedback is just when you collapse the left side bar to make the calendar full screen, the vertical lines in the greyed-out section no longer match up with the rest of the calendar/ they're shifted a bit too far to the left, but otherwise everything's all good!
  • (2020-08-21) Tim Trevlig: Thanks a lot!
  • (2020-08-17) Yuchen Zhao: Doesn't work at all.
  • (2020-07-02) Maura Harty: This is the closest thing I could find to an appropriately compact weekly view for google calendar.
  • (2020-06-29) Richard Hawkins: Excellent plugin! Though there's currently a layout alignment bug in Week/Day View if the Google sidebar isn't showing (toggle hamburger menu top-left).
  • (2020-03-18) Adam Del Rosso: Does what it says and simple to use! Raphael, I'm interested in this extension supporting nighttime hiding and expanding of the calendar to fill the screen so that the time blocks are larger. I am willing to help out on this effort! Let me know, thanks.
  • (2020-02-17) Greg C Neumayer: I really like the idea, and the implementation is perfect -- not in the way or awkward. Unfortunately, this version looks like it's not useful for 4K monitors. On mine, it removes the morning hours but creates and equal amount of blank space at the bottom of the calendar after midnight, which doesn't make the viewed hours any larger. Add me to the notification list if you update it!
  • (2020-02-12) Robert Van Mosseveld: Found this gem through a forum when looking for a way to minimize the morning (and evening btw) in my Google Calendar. Installed it and after reloading it just worked. Perfect! Really happy this add-on exists, it's very intuitive and effective. Told my colleagues about it as well. One thing I'm missing is minimizing the end of the day as well, so a separate grey space for after for example 6 pm. (but tbh that's not the name of your extension 😉). Other than that, perfect add-on, thanks a bunch!
