Description from extension meta

Hide morning hours on your Google Calendar to stop wasting space on your screen for empty hours.

Image from store Hide morning in Calendar
Description from store When's the last time you had a meeting at 3am? Empty hours are irrelevant and waste space on your screen. This extension lets you minimize the range of hours in the morning on your Google Calendar, so you only see the title of events during those hours. How does it work? 1. Click “Add to Chrome” to install the extension for free from the official Chrome Web Store. 2. Reload or open your Google Calendar in Chrome: https://www.google.com/calendar 3. In the Day/Week/3 or 7 days view, you will notice a new small gray handle at the top of the times on the left. Drag it down to hide morning hours. If you want to show those hours again, simply click the gray hidden hours at the top of the times on the left. Who is it for? When you use your calendar for work or school, you can set a range of working hours in the day that fits your schedule and remove the unnecessary white space during the times you're out of office or sleeping. This extension currently works if the language of Google Calendar is set to English (US). Support for more languages coming soon. Feel free to ask us any questions or tell us what you think. Contact at www.raphaelschaad.com. Thanks for giving us a rating, if you like your clean new calendar look.

  • (2024-02-18) Kit Green: Doesn't hide any hours on the calendar. I just get a button which says something like "enable bedtime training". Nothing about setting up the hours you don't need to see on your calendar. Has it been hacked? Whatever, it doesn't do what it advertises. Should be removed from the store.
  • (2023-10-30) Ben Warheit: does what it says, but could give user more freedom to customize - you can pick the "end" time (7am, 6am, etc.) but you can't pick the start time - it is midnight by default. Would be better to be able to pick any block of time you want to collapse - for people with non-standard working hours.
  • (2023-10-01) Martin Saxer: One minor UI glitch: If a secondary time zone is enabled in Google Calendar settings the day column display is misaligned. I'm guessing the code assumes only a single timezone. This plugin's feature is more important than multiple timezones for me so I turned them off.
  • (2023-07-11) Clem: Doesn't work if you don't have the calendar in english... I'm french
  • (2023-06-26) Julien BERTAULT: Works fine and does what it says - save screen space by hiding useless morning hours.
  • (2023-06-22) Nadia Hall: Worked perfectly, quick and easy to set up. Would love to be able to block out night time too!
  • (2023-06-05) MythosMaiden: It works well but I did have a formatting issue. The "notes" text overlaps with the actual note on the calendar entry making it difficult to read.
  • (2023-05-13) Richard Beeth: FYI - I had to close Chrome and reopen it for the app to work. Thanks for creating it!
  • (2023-05-10) Chris Lai: I liked this feature but I one-upped with my addon to also hide evenings. Feel free to try out https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/meeting-dolphin-calendar/opimkmliiphijnkokghkjggpgiajedea 😊
  • (2023-03-22) David Ashby: Not sure why some people are having issues. I installed it, opened calendar and there it was.. Sorry guys.
  • (2023-03-07) M R: Doesn't work. The grey handle never appears.
  • (2023-03-07) rippledmind: did nothing but wasted my time changed language, deleted extra clocks, reset, rebooted, restarted, reswore a few few times didnt hide my morning, just wasted it - don't try this
  • (2023-03-06) Mark Paluta: Great start. As a next step I'd recommend letting the user define one continuous block of "active hours", so that we can also hide late night, and this should also satisfy the night owl feedback). Also, this does not work on my work calendar and gives me a tool tip that it only works in English, but my calendar is already in English.
  • (2023-02-11) Sina Laura: nice! I would even give 10 stars, if you could also implement to extend the night hours. so that my day goes to 3 a.m (without a breakpoint), and starts again at 8. looking desperately for this feature :(
  • (2023-02-01) Андрей Андр. Однолько: Установил, все сработало (гугл-календарь на английском), полезно, спасибо. Присоединяюсь к просьбе добавить скрытие и вечерних часов.
  • (2023-01-30) Steve Magruder: I'd like this much more if I could set the color of the morning bar - I use a dark theme, and the gray is a bit blinding. Also, like others have mentioned - being able to block out evening hours is likely a must-have addition for many.
  • (2022-10-28) Molly Hutt: This extension is solidly 50% helpful. It's great that I can hide morning hours, but its use is seriously limited for me because there's no way to start those "morning" hours later than 12AM. I'm a major night owl, I'm self-employed, and I have a chronic illness that also means my average workday can start any time between 10AM and dinnertime. I don't always put events on my calendar during that time, but it can be helpful with time tracking and keeping tabs on my workload. For someone who works a night shift, this extension would be counterproductive. Letting people customize their "morning" hours to fit their non-working time seems like a really simple fix, and it would make the extension so much more useful.
  • (2022-10-27) Raj B Apte: Doesn't work for me at all. No handle,, no effect.
  • (2022-10-26) Göksenin Göksel: "Small but smart" details makes life easier.Thank you.
  • (2022-10-21) Karl Nyborg: Should be included in the default calendar. Amazing!
  • (2022-10-07) H I: we need one which support Japanese!!
  • (2022-09-07) David Wright: It does what it says, which is good. It would be GREAT if it let you set an end time and it zoomed/stretched entries in the workday/not-hidden area to fill the screen vertically.
  • (2022-09-05) Lawrence Wong: As of 2022-09-05, it does not work, even when I set the language to English (US) as instructed to do so.
  • (2022-08-26) Caine Mac: I used to love this Extension but it stopped working suddenly and I assumed it had been removed from my Chrome. but nope, it's still there and still enabled, and yet if I refresh my G-Cal the little grey slider that shows the hours to hide never appears anymore. I've tried removing it and readding it, it jsut doesn't work. (*using edge and chrome btw)
  • (2022-07-24) Karl-Joseph VGH: Exactly what I needed, thank you so much!
  • (2022-07-20) Grant Mills: A) Love that I can hide a typically empty block (between midnight and for me 7am local) I am seeing an issue when I've got mid-7am blocked. If I duplicate an event, there is an issue where I can see and adjust the hidden time. I have to adjust the hidden time to nothing in order to see the date/time of the event I'm trying to duplicate. After finishing the duplicate, I need to reset the hidden hours back to mid-7am. I will send screenshots if that'd help.
  • (2022-07-19) Aiden Sanders: 1. Love that it hides my morning! 2. No option to hide evening hours prior to midnight, which would be very useful. 3. There seems to be a glitch - when I create or edit a calendar item, the slider bar to change the hours I'm hiding shows up on top of the calendar item.
  • (2022-07-07) conor levey: Does exactly what it says and does it well. Would love the ability to hide night hours as well.
  • (2022-06-20) Tonya Abna: This used to work great until today. Now if I try to add a new meeting, instead of it showing me the date and time fields, it shows the compacted timeline. I hope you publish a fix soon, because this plugin was very handy before this.
  • (2022-06-14) Andy Kemp: Half way to awesome. Now my calendar has no wasted space at the top of the screen! However the bottom of the screen still have 20cm dedicated to night time. If you could make it hide the evenings so that the appointments can now be big and easy to read that would be amazing! Great work so far and would be happy to contribute to dev effort
  • (2022-05-02) Juan Alonso: Does what it advertises well, but without support for hiding evening hours it's not that useful for me. The visual space where it shows "midnight - 04:30" could also be reduced.
  • (2022-03-10) Simon Williams: Brilliant. Works well with the language set to English (UK). Thank you!
  • (2022-03-01) Renee Finan: Great, useful product. I was so frustrated with having to scroll every time I opened my calendar. This extension rocks. Make sure to reload your calendar/restart your computer once it downloads or if you have issues. You can get rid of the "Bedtime Coach" ad by clicking it and declining to try it. Thanks for this time/frustration saver!
  • (2022-03-01) Peter Löfström: It does what it´s supose to do, so happy with that. _BUT!_ It adds an ad / commercial for "Bedtime coaching" into my calendar as whole day activity. And the link in the "information box" directs to a broken page. Probably just the devs. way of making money from this. But, still, sneaky!
  • (2022-02-27) Jessica Buckland: Very quick and easy to install and get running. Disappointed that you can't use it for evenings, it would be great if you could set it up for 6 pm - 7 am rather than the default midnights so you can just see your working hours
  • (2022-02-02) Dale Walker: Used to work great but no longer. Have English (UK) setup so maybe that's why it is. Tried reinstalling and everything.
  • (2022-01-26) Stefaan D'Hauwers: Excellent ! I have been looking for this solution for a while. Thank you !
  • (2022-01-09) David: At the moment, I am failing to make it work. It doesn't do anything at all. But I see from the reviews that other people have had the same problem, but later they made it work. I am an optimimist. Maybe next time I restart my computer, it will work, but at this moment it is completely useless. (Later that day) No. My optimism was misplaced. It just doesn't work, but I shall wait a while before removing it, in case you suggest a solution. UPDATE A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. I have tried everything including refreshing the page, changing the language from UK English to US English, restarting the computer and removing and re-installing the extension, but it does absolutely nothing. The empty morning hours from midnight to breakfast time are as visible as they always were. I suspect it might be hindered by another extension I am using in connection with Google calendar. I can't think of any other reason for it to not work.
  • (2021-12-15) C Eller: December 2021 it doesn't hide any hours.
  • (2021-10-16) Isabelle Lim: Loveee this feature! However, it doesn't work well with another feature - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/custom-calendar-backgroun/acjecbgflnhmeldadcbblhfdimhifpki?utm_source=chrome-ntp-icon because I don't like the white background. When I uninstall this feature, your feature works well. But when I want to customise the background using that feature, your feature unfortunately doesn't work. 😭 It would be awesome if it works well with each other. ◡̈ Esp for those who wanna customise their calendar backgrounds like me. Hope you take this into consideration for upgrading. Thanks.
  • (2021-10-11) Matthew Orsborn: It works. Pity can't also cut out a few night hours. But does what it says on the tin.
  • (2021-09-28) Tessa Levy: This is great! However, I wish the extension worked for the calendar widget/pop out (not sure what you call it, sorry, not a techie) on Gmail. That's the calendar I use most, the narrow column on Gmail. If the extension could also be used for that, please let me know! Also, I second or eighth, the others' comments about hiding the evening hours. It would be nice to have that option as well. Thank you! Your efforts are appreciated!
  • (2021-09-14) Jerry Lin: Would be perfect if you could also hide night hours or specify the hours to hide by typing them in. Sleek appearance, though.
  • (2021-09-09) Dániel Papp: This bar, that it puts on the week view also appears on the months view. That's a huge bug there...
  • (2021-09-04) Joseph Guo: Works well. Would be great if you can change the color (say for darkmode). I have the Dark Reader Chrome extension installed, and it couldn't change the color of this this extension to black.
  • (2021-09-02) GIPeN: It hides the scroll but doesn't give more space, events still use the same height with unused white space at the bottom, so not much difference
  • (2021-08-25) Hannah Warren: Thank you for creating this! Agreed that expanding features to hide evening hours would be helpful too, but I AM able to hide morning hours on the day view, so relatively few complaints. Thanks again!
  • (2021-08-11) Steve Klein: It adds a feature that should be built-in. Does exactly what it promises. I wish there was also an option to hide nighttime hours. I only use Google Calendar for work, so I almost never anything scheduled before 8AM or after 6PM. When I right-clicked the extension icon, I saw an option to "enable bedtime mode." What does that do?

Just being helpful. Here is what got it working for me: I found 2 things were needed: 1) restart chrome 2) on my calendar page, type just the basic URL without any further path. https://calendar.google.com Once I did those things it came right up. 3) Then always make sure you are selecting your days from the drop down on the top right. I always select "5 days" or "Week"

Unlike the video suggests, no matter what I do I cannot get an icon on the side to change which hours are displayed in my calendar. I only get a question first asking me to change my language to English (it is), then it asks me about enabling "Bedtime Coach", but never brings up anything to change the viewable hours.
  • (2022-06-28, v:0.1.9) Molly Hutt: Can't get it to work
