Image from store Convert Indian Scripts to Hindi or English
Description from store This extension will Transliterate any one of seven Indian scripts into Devanagari (the Hindi script). This DOES NOT translate. This merely transliterates. Here is an example: ਪੁੱਟ --> पुट्ट ਪੁੱਟ --> puṭṭ When you press the button of the extension on the toolbar on any page, a drop-down will appear to make you choose from either "Devanagari" or "Roman". When you pick one, the entire webpage will be transliterated into that script. As you can see in the example, the Punjabi word will not be translated, it will take the alphabets and convert them into Devanagari alphabets, so you still has to understand the language to understand the webpage. The seven writing systems supported (alphabetical order): Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi (Gurmukhi), Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil Devanagari to Roman is not supported at this time. How to Use: Go to a webpage with one of the seven writing systems present on it.* Click the extension button on the toolbar. * Note: This does not transliterate text inside of inputs, it only does so on text displayed on a webpage

  • (2020-04-03) Proactive Patrol: Works as expected. Any page with देवनागरी characters will be converted to devanāgarī with proper diacritic marks (ṇ, ṅ, ñ, etc) (called IAST). We use for converting sanskrit text into IAST.
  • (2019-06-18) Works as advertised!
