A simple chrome tab renamer extension
Lets you rename the title of the any tab. Very handy when you feel your tab title need more descriptive or personalized names.
Also, the title sticks to the tab even if you navigate to a different page within the same tab!
Note: This may not work on websites (Ex: chrome webstore, facebook etc) which do not get affected by this tab title change.

- (2024-02-19) jsosmd: Keeps new name if the tab is reloaded but loses it after the browser restarts.
- (2023-10-03) Igor Potseluev: The tab name persists even if I follow the link and address changes. This is awesome. It would be really cool to have a keyboard shortcut for renaming.
- (2023-06-07) Chelsea Holtzman: It worked perfectly up until the recent Chrome update. If the page refreshes it reverts to the original tab name. It's not that bad, but I use it to keep track of tabs for work so sometimes it makes me take a little bit longer to find the tab I need. Otherwise, it's been perfect for me. This doesn't happen all the time either, not sure what makes it revert sometimes.
- (2023-05-23) Matthew Quinn: Worked great, just as I needed. Highly recommended if you simply need to rename tabs.
- (2023-05-23) Matthew Greenslade: Does exactly what I need it to do as simply as possible and helps with the organization of my workflow.
- (2023-05-18) Dima Tkach: Doesn't work for me: whenever I try to rename any tab, it just says "Error occurred" 🤷
- (2023-04-11) Adrien Monocle: Does not work
- (2023-02-06) Metal Gear: doesnt work, it will reverted everytime browser restarted
- (2023-01-22) Siddharth Mirchandani: This is really helpful for a student with 10 docs opened, all of them saying only part of the document title. For me, since I use Google Classroom, my name would always come first, and since it's so long, all I'd see in the tab name was my name! Imaging going through 10 tabs like that! This extension was a life-saver!
- (2023-01-13) Brenda Posh: This very easily changed the tab title but then I clicked rename and did a refresh - the tab title just kept cycling - flahs between the old and new name. removed it
- (2022-11-28) Logan B: no longer works Version 107.0.5304.122
- (2022-05-15) Val Ellis: doesn't work nice job
- (2021-10-27) Wesley Leung: Good, but adding the "allow file urls access" might improve it
- (2021-09-21) Angeleena Saji: not at all worked
- (2021-09-07) Paul B.: Nice and simple, but the new names do not survive tab reopening, which is a basic requirement.
- (2021-07-26) Eric A. Stalee (Эрик): Exactly what I need. Renames the tab and doesn't lose the name even when navigating elsewhere on the page. Very useful.
Danke
- (2021-04-23) Newtomic: Near useless.
- (2021-01-18) Good Wyrk: I LOVE this little plugin and use it all the time to quickly keep track of different versions of similar pages (like Dev vs Test vs Prod). Also great for presentations/demos. Perfectly simple.
- (2020-10-28) Nolan Smith: It keeps saying error and never works :/
- (2020-07-18) Venkata Sai Yeturi: Very easy to use. Recommended! When you load the extension for the first time, it asks you to reload the page. after that it works without a glitch.
- (2020-03-03) Waldo Gonzalez: My colleagues and I always have tons of tabs open, and our primary internal system often logs us out (wisely, for security reasons) of different pages we may be working on. This extension is invaluable both in quickly seeing what I have open, and in knowing what to go back to after being logged out. It is so simple and user friendly, and does exactly what I need it to.
- (2020-03-02) Christopher Larkin (Chris): Doesn't work on Google tabs (like Google Ads)
- (2020-02-05) clintonjnelson: LOVE this plugin. Quick & simple. I use it constantly to clarify tabs. Also helpful when presenting.
- (2019-09-20) Kohen Lord: good but i couldn't make it stick when i closed the tab and reopened, as i tried to remame Vyond to GoAnimate
- (2019-07-17) Willis Gómez: Works as described. I only wish that I could save a list of regular names. I have 8 duplicates of the same site that I have to rename every day. Otherwise, it is the close I can get to a perfect solution. Thank you for making this.
- (2018-09-30) Scott Luepke: Did not work for me.
- (2018-09-05) Kevin McCarpenter: Didn't work -- asked me to reload a tab. My use case: I have 6 tabs open of the same site making AJAX requests. Why I hated it: When I typed in a name, it told me an error occurred, and asked me to reload one of the pages. Nope, sorry.
- (2018-07-10) Cameron Scarlett: Works exactly as advertised, even survives page reloads when using on poe.trade.
- (2018-06-19) Chris Hubick: Works as described. I only wish there was a context menu option to make it easier to use if I hide the icon.
- (2018-04-22) Hel Lo: Useful! I wish it could be persistent and remember what I renamed it as whenever I open that same URL, but other than that it's great.
- (2018-01-06) Michal Baňas: you cant change tab name of pdf file, this would ease work a lot!
- (2017-12-12) Tracey C: Custom tab names persist even when navigating within sub-pages of a site. Exactly what I needed for testing different versions of a website.
- (2017-08-29) Carlos Correa: Works!
- (2016-10-07) luigi chianura: REALLY EASY!!!
- (2016-07-18) Bryan Guerre: Got this for work, so far working as advertised!
