Hands down the best automatic tab renamer Chrome extension... aand it was taken down by Google. =P Hopefully the publisher updates and reenables it soon or another equally competent alternative surfaces... and it not tore down again by goddamn Google.
PLEASE update this so that Google reinstates it!!! This is the only extension I have found like this, it's amazing and has saved me so much headache. Bummed that Google removed it.
why it's not working anymore?
Works like a charm, simple to use and does the job pretty fine. Thanks for the QoL.
Loved it!! this extension is simple af you just have to go to the tab which you want to rename then open the extension and the rename it, you can also set time period for the tab too
Great extension, but it seems to have a maximum number of entries? I got to the point where all my old tab titles still worked, and new tab titles showed up in the extension settings. But new tab titles weren't actually being processed on the tab. Either there are a maximum number of entries, or Chrome stops the extension if it doesn't find the title fast enough. I had to reinstall to clear out all my old entries, but most of them were junk anyways.
'Permissions: Read your browsing history Read and change your bookmarks' Why.
Very Good! but it can only last up to the time the tab is closed. In Vivaldi, it will flicker, but work.
The best one especially the "per tab or domain" setting helps me a lot!
Excellent! As simple as you want it to be or as powerful as you need it to be with wildcards and RegEx replacement (in beta)! I had forgotten I had some tabs renamed with it that it is so non-intrusive! It wasn't until I wanted to add a tab to be renamed that I saw I had previous entries already added :) The fact that the source is hosted on GitHub for verification of security is a VERY nice bonus too! Here's a use-case: Lots of times, the user has many tabs open when working on a particular task. However, site developers don't always give a title, to the sub-page, a name / description, that shows up in the browser's title bar, as something that's easily distinguishable from the other tabs related to the same task. This is usually done for polish, but from a user-productivity standpoint, it's not so great. Renaming the tabs to be more specific, so that when you are visually-scanning through a browser's tabs along the top, you can quickly get to the tab you need making multi-tab workflows a breeze!
Perfect
PRO: nice GUI; persistent re-titling; was fixed to work even if new title is pasted in containing several lines of text; CON: does not work with all sites, such as TitanTV.com - which (unfortunately) I need to use quite frequently. [Windows 11, Vivaldi 6.5]

Easy to install. Works perfectly. Did not have to restart Chrome.
just what I need!
Works flawlessly, accepts RegEx entries and gives you options for specific pages or whole domains. It does it all well. However, there one usefull feature missing: the option to easily save and export the settings to a text or CSV file to quickly share it with other users and profiles. I'll give it 4/5 stars by now, will gladly rate it 5 stars when the export feature is implemented.
Much simpler than some alternatives!

I really, really like this and use it a lot. I routinely have about 30 tabs open in Brave and use this to name more than half of them. When I restart Brave (after an update or after a reboot - otherwise I leave it running all the time), I see the tabs are initially loaded with the names I have given them, but as soon as I click on a tab it reverts to the "normal" name, not the name I have given it. This is valuable enough that I also routinely go thru and rename all the tabs as soon as I have loaded Brave, but it seems like, since the names are there after a restart until I select the tab, it might be fairly easy to have them persist. I hope, anyway. Maybe this is unique to Brave but works for Chrome?

А как с названия сайта на каком-то домене оставить часть(эта часть разная всегда, она нужна+-), а остальную часть, всегда одинаковую, сиииильно сократить? Оставив пару слов(аббревиатур?/сокращений) из абзаца.
So far so good. Easy to use. Hoping they stay as renamed.

This extension works for me (although rather buggy) in Mac Firefox, but doesn't work _at all_ in Chrome on my Mac. Does nothing at all, no matter how I set the various options. Deleted.

Перепробовал несколько расширений - некоторые или не работают или имя сбрасывает, это работает просто идеально!
Excellent. Easier & faster than the other one I was using

An awesome extension although it has a little reviews.

Does exactly what it states. Note that if you want the title to persist while the tab is open, and you intend to refresh the page, you'll want to choose the second option down "Set for this tab."

Perfect works like a charm🌀 Not works on sites like this: https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox If you add feature for changing the favicon it would be great👌

Excellent! With so many broken tab rename extensions out there, it's good to find one that actually works!
