I wanted to really escape the matrix of these distractions by youtube and instagram and couldn't really find a way out of it. The final option left for me was to delete my accounts on those platforms. But when i found this extension i clearky have no need of doing that. Thank you @tweetjai.

• (2024-05-24) Cy Kun: So not only is this app mandatory for navigating YouTube's awful, cluttered homepage and giving a middle finger to The Algorithm, but the developer is super responsive. A week or so back I noticed that the app stopped working on Twitter because they fully changed the web address to x.com, so I used the Request a Feature button on the app to tell the dev about it. I thought, at best, I'd maybe get a response in a few months that would say "we'll look into it" and then *maybe* by the end of the year the app would be updated, if at all. But no, I got a response within a day saying a fix would be out soon, and just today not only did the app update to work with X, I got an email from the developer telling me about it. So yeah, it's a great app that as of May 2024 is still actively being supported and makes viewing some of the worst websites bearable. For years I've been telling everyone I know complaining about homepages and feeds to use Undistracted, and I'm definitely going to keep doing that going forward.

• (2023-07-14) Emma Chan: I would have liked to give it 5 stars because I like the concept, but there is one issue that bothers me about the extension, which deserves to deduct one star. It doesn't allow blocking Reels and Short Videos on Facebook in the news feed, and that's very disruptive because the majority of these contents are toxic, and I don't want to see them. There is also another detail: even though I check "Hide Feed" I still see the news feed. So, what is missing in the extension is the ability to hide Reels and Vertical Videos. Therefore, it would be necessary to update the blocking functionality for the Facebook site, and then the extension would be more comfortable.

Blocking addictive YouTube suggested videos (so I can still use YouTube for music and research, without getting distracted) as well as blocking time sinks like Facebook and Twitter. One possible addition that I would like would be to be able to block Gmail within certain time periods. I find myself checking email ridiculously frequently, and would like to restrict it to certain times so I can batch them. Not a deal breaker though. Five stars.
