🔥 BOOST YOUR BROWSING EXPERIENCE WITH ZERO EFFORT! 🔥
This extension keeps your browser tabs sorted in Most Recently Used (MRU) order, from left to right — just like the way apps are organized on desktop operating systems when you use Cmd/Alt+Tab. Tab Slider brings this behavior to Chrome. Try it out!
How it works:
- If you stay on a tab for more than 1 second (by default), it will "slide" to the leftmost position;
- This keeps your most recently used tabs ordered from left to right;
- Thanks to this order, pressing Ctrl+Tab switches you to the next most recently used tab;
- Pinned tabs slide in the opposite direction (left to right). This is intentional — it allows seamless switching between your most recently used pinned tabs and normal tabs using keyboard shortcuts:
- Ctrl+Shift+Tab switches to the most recently used pinned tab;
- Ctrl+Tab switches back to the most recently used normal tab;
You can customize the reordering delay and the maximum number of reordered tabs in the extension’s settings; newly opened active tabs immediately appear on the left.
Once you get used to it, this way of managing tabs will feel completely natural and intuitive 🪄

- (2023-03-22) The A Man: One of THE BEST, if not THE BEST extension ever. Raised a feature request on the Vivaldi forum for this very feature a couple days ago; nobody responded; was looking for an Alt-Tab style tab switcher for the browse instead, and found THIS! At first was hesitant, since there always are a bunch of tabs opened on the leftmost side of my windows which I won't want repositioned, and then saw that one could exclude pinned tabs from the rearranging behaviour! This extension is JUST PERFECT! If only there was a similar app for Windows, to sort the windows 10/11 taskbar icons too; sure, the Alt-Tab and Win-Tab task switchers are great, but they're not always passively/silently visible like the taskbar icons are, and are a click or a shortcut away too... Nevermind. Anyway, keep up the good work, buddy; I was so sad the past few days that this feature wasn't there, and you just made me so so so happy!!! Love you.
- (2022-07-06) tabliqat chi: I admire the work you have done Nikita and I know you put time and effort on this, so thank you very much. However, this can get easily confusing because you sometimes only visit a tab "to know what it is" and no certain delay can work for all cases. I liked it too when I installed it, but soon I realized it wasn't what I fancied. Maybe an extension that allows me send a tab to the first in the tabs order "manually" will do better. But in general, I know this is free software and I thank a lot. This was just an honest friendly message/comment/feedback. ☺
