• (2024-06-05) Dimitri G: Right mouse button extensions seem to be a curse... CRX stopped working and was riddled with bugs, Smartup got flagged as being malware so... Autocontrol was installed and was quickly configured with some basic actions... Once you get the 'logic', the configuration was easy and it seems to be powerful. But for now, I've been using it for just 3 small days and also tested it out on about 5 devices. To my surprise, it seems to be working splendidly and never skips a beat. And it even works in 'special' tabs (like configuration pages). So hoping that this breaks the curse and for that, I've just happily sent a donation :-) Goodluck with the future!

• (2023-12-30) László Mikó: I agree with all other who tell that THIS IS THE BEST CHROME AUTOMATION TOOL THAT EVER EXISTED. This is because: 1. this can access the file system directly (this is why the native component must be installed at setup); 2. this also means that I can store data related to customizations not within the browser but in the filesystem, where it really belongs; 3. the extension was carefully designed and created with competence: e.g. there are many possibilities and there is a lot of help. Using this tool and some other external tool YOU CAN DO WHATEVER NECESSARY TO BE DONE WITH CHROME WITHOUT ANY REAL CONSTRAINT! You can finally have that you should have had years ago when you tried to create a Chrome customization in the way it should really work! Thanks for you hard work! One feature is missing for fast creation of code: debugging the code. (I debug the code currently using Chrome DevTools' snippets and in some other, bit more complex ways, like using a local webserver and debugging that code.)

• (2023-10-26) josh wanner: It was awesome but today it has started interacting with my LButton on my mouse, I saved my data and uninstalled. When I reinstalled I tested it without any hotkeys set up, completely clean and just on it's own it was affecting my taskbar icons. When I click a taskbar icon and then click it again to minimize on the second click it presses the LButton down and makes me drag the program on the taskbar and doesn't minimize. I have to click again to release it and then click again to finally minimize it... I'm not sure what to do, it's likely clashing with Autohotkey and so I think I'll over time try to convert everything to Autohotkey and not use autocontrol app at all.

• (2023-08-13) Steve Brazzell: Kudos! I'll be sending a donation and I urge others to do the same. I'm a huge Autohotkey user and have never been able to figure out how to manipulate tabs. The MRU functionality (or even last tab, for God's sake!) is worth the price of admission, but this extension is top notch, well thought-out, and shows a passionate developer who loves what he does.

• (2023-06-29) Lisa Lavandula: Truly awesome extension to enable all kinds of shortcuts using the keyboard, mouse, and even joystick. I LOVE how it lets you specify a shortcut for searching a certain site or even part of a site for something. I kinda wish they would let you list more shortcuts you've created on one page, but this is still an awesome app that makes browsing a LOT more convenient. Definitely recommend.

• (2023-06-02) Henry Ma: Probably the best mouse gesture extension. But there's an issue with mouse wheel scroll. When I use Mouse Right Button + Wheel to switch to left/right tab, it always displays the right-click menu. It's very annoying. Browsers like CentBrowser doesn't have this issue. Also the extension stops working now and then, I have to do emergency repair to fix this. And it told me that Play/Pause key is pressed, which is not. Hope you can get these fixed and then it's absolutely the best.

• (2023-05-07) James Goodrich: This thing is incredible. First, let's just say I've had a rough experience with AutoHotkey. I know this is mostly because of its utterly ridiculous, universal power and flexibility, and my poor coding skills, but still. In comparison, this has a very simple, easy to use interface, especially considering that it can do like 95% of what I've even thought of wanting (at time of review). Also very nice: having a lot of help built-in and thoughtfully only displayed when I need it, instead of needing to sift through a huge pile of documentation whenever I want to look something up. It would be nice to be able to check if another tab has a particular URL open to use as a condition. This might very well not be technically possible, or I simply haven't found out how to do this. Also I kind of wish I could prevent the "support the project" button on the left from very occasionally wiggling and distracting me if I leave it open on another monitor, lol. Anyway, this is great and I extremely cannot recommend it enough. Ironically, finding out all the stuff I can do with this has inspired me to give AHK another chance to see what I can do outside of chrome (once I feel like reading a ton of documentation and fiddling with things).
• (2023-04-18) SenusSuns (Hydracoil): This extension has been a life-saver for me and I absolutely love it, It's highly customizable and makes navigating my browser so much easier. There is just 1 fatal flaw and I'm not sure if it's a problem with the extension or chrome itself but for some reason all the shortcuts I create usually stop working so If I make for example the 5th or 4th mouse button go to the left and right tab it will work for a little bit but since the 5th and 4th mouse button is also used as a back and forward button it will suddenly start functioning like a forward and back button instead of completely overwriting it. Everytime I restart my computer it works just fine but then it stops working again and I hate having to restart my computer everytime I want to use this extension. I hope there is a fix because it's very frustrating to deal with.

However I cannot seem to enable this otherwise welcome extension. .

However, I recently moved to "Vivaldi browser" and installed your extension. problem I have noticed so far is 1) Switch tabs when scrolling over the tab strip is not working. I followed your instructions on your official webpage so that both shortcuts must have a Mouse-over condition set to Browser tab, as shown in your picture. However it does not recognise the condition "Browser tab" to switch tabs (basically no tab switching occurs). I tried the various other options and Tab switching will work if I select Mouse-over condition set to "web page" ( meaning anywhere on the web page i use my mouse wheel it will start switching tabs which is not what i want as i cant use the wheel to scroll down a page anymore ) 2) the open link URL trigger does not work either when I hover mouse pointer over a URL (it works fine in slimjet browser). when i point my mouse over a URL link such as google result or YouTube search result (I can see the link URL address showing at the bottom of Vivaldi browser ) and set a mouse gesture along with the action "open link URL" , nothing happens kindly help regards OLD REVIEW BELOW I feel this is a very powerful app which is probably why there are things i have not discovered yet. it would be nice if there was a page where people shared their shortcuts to give othjer people ideas how to use it. so my main QUESTION please. I was using another mouse gesture extension which is great but the rocker gesture is not smooth and i would prefer to use this extension exclusively. However with that extension, there is a great feature which is by holding my mouse button and selecting any text on a webpage, i can then set a mouse trigger gesture to automatically search a website for what i highlighted. For example im browsing the web and I see an item on that webpage that I would like to find on amazon. So I highlight it with my mouse and do a mouse gesture (in the shape of an "a" for amazon in this case) and it will immediately open the amazon search webpage with results for what i highlighted all in one step (or it could set to search any page like ebay or reddit or google search search results etc). so for example i highlight the word pencil on a webpage, then do my trigger gesture and it opens https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=PENCIL. is there a way to search what i highlighted in one step with this extension please? Another question please - is it possible to set a trigger gesture to cause action of a keyboard press (for example my trigger is when i press a keyboard button the action is to output alt+shift+H) Finally - There is something that really bugs me about chrome that there is no extension to fix. whenever i save a bookmark it goes to the bottom of my bookmarks bar. as i have a lot of bookmarks i have to scroll all the way to the end. I would love an option to save a bookmark with a trigger gesture and it goes to the most left hand side of my bookmarks tab so i can see it straightaway rather than the default end of the list. I can not believe there is not one extension that does this because firefox has this great extension called "Default Bookmark Folder" which lets you choose to add the new bookmarks to the top or the bottom of the selected folder and with one click too. • (2023-01-24) Majken Villiger: Are you planning on making a version of this extension for Mac. A huge proportion of users have google chrome on mac. Would be nice to have a work around instead of just having no option for mac.
• (2022-12-30) ekarron: Every now and then it stops working until I disable and re-enable the extension, which is very inconvenient [Windows 11, Chrome Version 108.0.5359.125] I can't put my finger on exactly when it stops working, but I tried to disable all other extensions so I know there is no conflection and no luck. When it works, it's the BEST! and the customization is on another level.
• (2022-12-19) Tom Kemmish: Can't praise this enough lets you customize the hot keys to trigger, page/tab actions, and keyboard/mouse inputs. This works soooo good for repetitive tasks. Works much better than the various "auto clicker" extensions I tried. The interface for creating the automation actions is easy to understand and intuitive. I was able to figure out how to automate mouse clicks at specific locations in just a couple minutes

• (2022-10-22) Frank Utne: Why is there no warning that this extension cannot be used on Macs?! Sounds like a great extension. It's NOT! After installing it on my Mac, I get this page that says I need to install the 'native component'. When I click the button, I get: We are sorry, your operating system is currently not supported. At the moment, AutoControl is supported on: Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows 8 Windows 10 Read the FAQ to learn why this limitation exists. Try installing anyway It's not bad enough that I have to install some unknown software that I can't check with VirusTotal but it is WINDOWS ONLY and I am invited to install it anyway? I don't want to think about what that might do. Nothing good, that's for sure.

I was thinking maybe you can create a spinoff from this app to create AutoHotkey scrips. There is something similar on the internet (ahkgen), but the way this extension captures user input is on another level. What I am saying is you should think about creating a webapp that creates AHK scripts from the input capturing of this app. Otherwise this is great:)
