• (2024-06-18) Jonathan Cox: This extension works really great! I've had this extension since December 2021, and it has barely left my browsers ever since then. The only problem is that when you search a blocked channel on YT, it will still show the shorts from that channel. If you click on it, it will play the short for you, and with that, you can also STILL look around the channel, but if you click a video, it will NOT play, because you blocked the channel, and that means you won't access the videos. I hope the developer(s) of BlockTube can fix the Shorts issue, but that doesn't stop me from giving it a 5 out of 5! It's still a great extension nonetheless!
• (2024-04-21) Charles Ballard: worked great. now, blocking from comments and other tools are broken, offensive toxic stuff all over now...temp solution i found was to use adblockplus to block all comments and video suggestions on the right side panel...using these cutoms rules; - youtube.com##.style-scope.ytd-comments - youtube.com##.style-scope.ytd-watch-next-secondary-results-renderer copy paste into adblockplus custom rules. searches work and your screen isn't filled with unwanted misinformation, toxic troll droppings and hate based content.

(Dec 13 2022) Edit (Mar 18 2024) - as of March 18th, the context menu to block channels from the comments is non functional, and blocked channels still have their comments show on all videos. Is it possible to rectify this? Thanks.
• (2024-03-02) Roah: This is the best youtube blocker that I used so far. I just installed and transferred most of my blocked list into this one. What I liked about this extension is that it actually logs in the channel ID instead of Name which can be changed or bypassed while the ID is a unique identifier that can't be changed. What I also like about this extension is that you can block specific videos and comments. I love this feature because there are some very persistent videos being recommended to me when I search Youtube. I want to block those videos but I don't necessary want to block the their channel it just that their video always appears whenever I search it's the algorithm's fault. So this video helps me a ton by enabling me to block specific videos. EDIT: February 24. blocking via using the context menu doesn't work anymore but you can still manually block channel by manually inputting the channel's ID and it works. Edit: It's now working again. Suggestions: Please integrate auto-sync via Google Drive or let us specify the folder location for when importing backup. Otherwise, this extension is already perfect and future proof as well because it tags using the channel's ID instead of name and when something happens in the future, like youtube taking down this like extension like what they did with vance, then I can easily convert my backup for other alternatives blockers.

• (2023-11-13) OleDaniel Skofterød: Doesn't actually block anything, it just hides videos with keywords in them. So when all your recommended videos contain those keywords, your YouTube homepage will look completely blank. The "Click on "Not interested / Don't recommend channel" when blocking using context menus" is not working. Would also be better if there was separate options for not interested or don't recommend channel. Sometimes good channels post garbage.

I find that I am blocking more and more and more, to the point where this needs to be streamlined to a mouseover + block option, instead of having to click aim click. Please streamline the block process, too many shitters out there. Thanks Edit: 1 year later and you still haven't improved the extension. It's still annoying to block channels/videos. Constantly I am blocking a VIDEO and not the channel, yet the channel gets blocked. Instead of adding something on the blocked page to UNBLOCK, I have to d*ck around in the extension options to find the particular channel in question and remove it from the list of blocked channels. When searching for something in youtube, you can only block maybe the first 15. The 3 circles context menu on the right of video isn't visible after scrolling down a bit. I have to open the video in a new tab and then block the channel from there, defeating the purpose of not wanting to give these stupid clickbait videos any views. Taking 2 stars off since you haven't improved this at all. And now when I search google for a video on a particular channel, to avoid my youtube landing page (to avoid spoilers), I get redirected to youtube.com and get unwanted spoilers for current things.

The respondent speculated that "it might be the extension." Since this is the only extension I have added recently, it is probably caused by this extension.
