VPN Extensions can hide your IP address but they cannot prevent IP leaks caused by WebRTC. WebRTC Leak Shield protects you from this security threat. This is a must have extension for protecting your privacy on the internet.
WebRTC Leak Shield requires following permissions:
privacy: This allows the extension to change the webrtc settings of the browser to prevent WebRTC IP Leak
storage: To store configuration file and current state of the extension
management: This extension is standalone and does not require any other extension to function but other extension such as VPN extension can embed the functionality of this extension in their extension. (For example: Hoxx VPN). This permission is needed to ensure the communication between WebRTC Leak Shield and other extensions which are using its functionality.

Breaking upon closing and opening of browser now all the time, chrome and slimjet, need to remove then reinstall for it to protect, or at least show protection. Not sure what is going on, recent happening, been working well for a long time. will change rating if fixed. use a site that measures a webrtc leak to check, also can shut off webrtc on some browsers, best to use a separate profile if you need to block webrtc, as some web things will not work if blocking webrtc.

You do need a vpn, works 95% of the time, sometimes it does go bad and there is no switch to turn on and off that I can see, So you have to delete it and reload for it to work. Anyone using this add on should use a site that tests if leaks are happening. or roll over the icon, if shows protected, then you should be good, if it shows visible then you should reload it. an on off button would be a good addition

I love this extension. Works fantastic. However, during the last couple of weeks it doesn't remain turned on as it used to do. Sometimes it is turned off when I open the browser, and other times it turns off itself while using the browser. Can anyone give me some advice please?

Heck, so much brainleaks on the comments :P So to clarify: This extension does prevent any local/public IP leak THROUGH WebRTC (a protocol implemented on most current browsers for realtime communication), which can be abused to fetch your public and even local IP (local part mitigated in most browsers through obfuscation possibility) - no matter if youre behind a proxy, using a VPN or whatever. Such an extension cannot automagically change your regular gateway's Ipv4/Ipv6 unless the extension itself would be a proxy/vpn client. It's meant to plug that one loophole, where not even anonymizers can protect you from. The extension on its own doesnt protect your privacy, if youre not using any anonymizer (changing your public Ip address)

Doesn't work, Fails the test on https://ip8.com/webrtc-test, even so this extension is required by setupVPN ... https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/setupvpn-lifetime-free-vp/oofgbpoabipfcfjapgnbbjjaenockbdp While you can keep this extension with setupVPN so you can enable the prevent ip leak option, which it probably doesn't work anyway. Even with a vpn on and this extension on, some sites can still read my IP. Also it recently asked for access to my mic and camera! That may or may not be legit but it's not explained anywhere. And it didn't used to do that. Works sometimes - is invasive (mic and camera) without explanation
