• (2024-07-02) Harry Wu (Chorister): Dec 2020. The plug in takes forever to load. The usual save citation and pdf menu won't show up. Chrome and plugin are in latest version. Update in July 2024, they still haven't fix this issue. Additionally, on some publication sites, the plugin will only prompt your institution login (SSO) as default. Once logging in, it doesn't allow me to log in with my Mendeley account (different email address) any more, and subsequently doesn't allow me to add the article to my collection.

• (2024-05-09) Tofy: The first thing you read, beside the app name, when you open this page is "Fast, convenient import of...", well... that is just false. This thing is VERY slow, that when it functions... However, here is a small tip: if it didn't work, try reloading the page. It works with me... sometimes.
• (2024-02-25) Danny Sands: When it works it's not bad. But it usually won't work at all and I am forced to restart Chrome. In addition, it frequently requires me to re-authenticate, which slows me down. Zotero is free and is much more reliable. I am stuck with Mendeley for some of my work because the company I work for standardized on it. I'd really like it if the extension developers would address the reliability problems. Secondly, it is terrible at identifying metadata in PDFs. I am using Mendeley because I have to for work but for anything else I trust Zotero, which is much more reliable.

• (2023-11-12) Sami Vuori: I don't know what has happened at Mendeley's end, but currently pressing the Mendeley Web Importer tool button is like playing a slot machine game: sometimes you win, but mostly don't. My Windows 10 computer is running Intel i7, has 16 GB of RAM and all the latest software updates + latest Chrome, and still Mendeley refuses to work. On a good day I'm able to import 2-5 out of 15 references. I'm changing the system to something else.

• (2023-11-08) Massimo Scola: It's not working. When I click on the extension, a new browser window opens and closes immediately. Not sure what it is doing. Judging from the reviews of other people, I am not alone with this issue. So why bother with this extension if there are other reference tools available that do work?

• (2023-10-30) Michelle Lee: I agree with all the reviewers who have mentioned that Mendeley's transition under Elsevier has been a complete nightmare. This extension doesn't work, and the new reference platform is terrible. Elsevier clearly has no idea what scholars, writers, researchers, etc. need in order to do their work because nothing is working the way it should; things that were great before are no obsolete or completely gone; and the interface they've replaced it with is not only inefficient and convoluted but incredibly glitchy. Such a shame, because I've used Mendeley since 2012.
• (2023-10-30) kirkuleetz: This extension used to be superb. Now it's a buggy mess which doesn't actually work anymore. Absolutely gutted. Will update my rating if or when it starts to work again as it should.
• (2023-10-29) Victoria Dotto: I re-added the extension so I could review it, something has happened over the last few years and Mendeley has just gone downhill. Super slow, does not import references correctly or completely. Been using this software for ages but it's time to switch.

It's (best case scenario) 50/50 whether pushing a button that is supposed to do a thing will do it, whether in the web plug-in or in the desktop app. It's a shame too because if it just worked, if it just did the thing it was supposed to do, it would be great, but no, that has not been my experience at all. I think I'll have to search for an alternative, with all the spare time a person has who is studying and working... Annoyingly unnecessary!!

Man kann ihn nur schliessen, wenn man die Seite neu lädt. Ausserdem hatte ich Mühe mich anzumelden. Es hat mich direkt zum Login meiner Unternehmens-Seite weitergeleitet, dabei wollte ich mich mit meinem privaten Account anmelden. Das Löschen des Browserverlaufs konnte dieses Problem beheben.
