Dictation for Gmail

It was very glitchy from the start - jumping insertion point, wouldn't add punctuation, etc - but then it somehow disabled my microphone on Google search. I've worked for two days to fix the microphone issue, to no avail.

I really enjoy this, just wish there were an option not to capitalize every time it starts typing and that it wouldn't move the cursor down to the bottom of the email every time i have to turn the mic off and back on again.

There may be some trouble again with Google, since spme days ago the dictation does not work anymore :(

wont load nor the button on my emails to start up. it is in my shortcuts and lit up . update later

I've been using this since 2020 . I am so thankful. It works seamlessly, and so well that I forgot it was an extension until I realized a coworker who hurt his wrist needed it.

Doesn't respond to punctuation commands full stop new line this makes it pretty useless exclamation mark.

Every time I pause briefly, it adds a period, so I have to manually correct all of these eliminating the time I saved. Help.

Insists on inserting a new line every time turned on, won't start dictating in the middle of an email.

What a piece of garbage. For being a trillion dollar company you would think they could do better. Maybe they are paying their CEO's too much!

very poor quality of voice recognition compared to https://dictation.io/speech this is obsolete and unuseful

Not sure what the last review is on about this is working ok for me as a quick way to get emails done. Maybe you need to check your mic settings?

A general problem in TTS in Gmail is the punctuation and formatting commands (in German: "Punkt, Absatz..." etc). This works excellently in WORD, but not in Gmail. I often, in case of longer texts, Iet ChatGPT improve and edit my texts to take care of this problem.

I put this extension on my Mac but there's no microphone in Gmail. It's not working...any suggestions?

Works for me, i have windows11pc. I hope it learns your speech and patterns the more you use it. As I want to command things like "new line" "comma" etc etc. It does do commas, but not new line or any others ive noticed at the moment,

I used to use this all the time on my Windows 10 PC, but it doesn't work on the new Windows 11 PC. I get the microphone icon, and the permissions are correct, and the microphone on the computer isn't disabled, but when I talk I get nada for the transcription.

Amazing tool. But microphone just disappeared! Looking forward to the patch. Will change the star rating to a 4 or 5 when patch fixes the issue :)

I use this ALL the time and the microphone button has disappeared as of this morning. Tried restarting gmail, signing out and in, deleting and reinstalling the extension. Nada. Help! I would give it 4-5 stars normally but not if I can't use it! OS is Mac Ventura and browser is Chrome.

What happened? I have 2 different Gmail accounts. The button in one of my Gmail composing screens stopped appearing yesterday!!! Tried everything deleting and reloading extension. microphone permission, etc. no red button????? Running Windows 11 on a 2020 HP desktop with all drivers and Windows updates

Happy with it so far- to get the mic button appearing I closed down and opened gmail. Running Windows 11, Google Chrome browser and downloaded the Dictation for Gmail extension from the chromewebstore. The voice to text was less clunky than MS Word so overall, quite impressed.

It doesn't work for me. As soon as I click the mic icon it says "An error occurred". I looked at my browser and site settings and my sound settings, and everything is good. Other programs are able to access my mic just fine. If you had written a more descriptive error message into the code, maybe I could help you figure out where the problem is, since it apparently works for many people but fails for some. I'm running Brave browser on Ubuntu Linux 22.04 in case that helps.

Can't get this to work...is it possibly because I'm using it with the Brave Browser? The microphone shows up but says it an error every time...

I have just changed my review here. At first the mic wasn't there and now it has shown up. So far so good!

this stopped working on my Gmail a month ago and I can't fix it. Tried signing in and out and resetting everything . Permissions were given for my microphone. please help! I will improve the rating if you get this working

In staled eten tions, no microphone shows, restarted computer, no microphone shows, read atricles no explaination, No instructions on extension to tell how to setup. See others have posted this issue and the developer has not replied. Garage. Have my right had in a cast, really wish this woorked.

Had no trouble with any type of punctuation including commas, colons, and semicolons. "Let's go ahead and write a little bit here in this email and determine whether or not this application works effectively and efficiently and fluently. Wow, not one mistake. So if we continue to articulate complex words and sentences and punctuation, will I stumble into an error? And let's go ahead and finish one of these with a : That worked very well can we insert a, perfect. What if I wanted to go ahead and add a; good job again. There's absolutely no argument that this extension is very useful" I didn't have to correct anything.....Im sold

It's good and like other extensions, I hope it will improve with time. Some deficiencies, like begin new sentence, punctuation, but to be honest, it is out of the scope of this extension at the moment. It's just for voice recognition. I believe, AI integration will improve it .

I hope it will get better - but at this point, the voice dictation mistakes so many words that it doesn't save me any time. And it really can't do punctuation at all. The one in Microsoft products is much more useful.

I find it helpful, but I do have to come back and make some corrections by typing them in. I wish it would allow me to dictate more punctuation than it now does; for example colon and semicolon. Also it often does not begin a new sentence (after a period) with a capitalized first letter of word. It seems to me that that could be easily fixed! So all in all: useful but needlessly deficient.
