Thunderbird online is een Chrome-extensie die een full-featured e-mail client, RSS en nieuwsgroepen client biedt. Het ondersteunt verschillende e-mailaccounts (POP, IMAP, Gmail). Het beschikt over een e-mailaccount setup-wizard, een adresboek, een user interface met tabbladen, een geïntegreerde spamfilter, geavanceerd zoeken, indexeren mogelijkheden, en biedt een e-mail de organisatie met behulp van tags en virtuele mappen.
De Thunderbird online belangrijkste kenmerken zijn:
- Message beheer dat verschillende e-mail, nieuwsgroepen en nieuws-feed accounts kan omgaan met het gebruik van functionaliteiten, zoals snel zoeken, bericht filtering, bericht groepering, en stel labels om berichten te vinden.
- Junk filtering dat een spamfilter omvat.
- Protocollen ondersteund: POP en IMAP, maar het ondersteunt ook LDAP-adres voltooiing, RSS / Atom-reader, S / MIME en OpenPGP normen voor beveiligde e-mail.
- Bestandsformaten ondersteund: mbox, Unix mailbox formaat; en maildir, bekend als maildir-lite.
- Wizard mailaccount instellen, zodat alleen het verstrekken van de naam, e-mailadres en wachtwoord van de wizard zal een interne database te controleren en vind de juiste e-mailinstellingen.
- Multiple-channel chat real-time gesprek met contacten, en het ondersteunen van meerdere netwerken.
- Activity Manager dat alle interacties tussen Thunderbird en uw e-mailprovider op één plek registreert.
- NetNews client geïntegreerd.
- Meerdere mappen te ondersteunen.
- Import / export brievenbussen.
- Inclusief Message Queuing.
- Contact management en vCard ondersteuning.
- Ondersteuning APOP authenticatie.
- Ondersteuning van SMTP AUTH.

- I wish this were better. I love Thunderbird, but this extension disappears if you do anything else on the computer, e.g. go to another tab, change apps, basically anything. And it's slow to load even though my Chromebook is one of the fastest available.

- At least I couldn't use it. I was trying to set up thunderbird on a chromeos machine and was a little confused why this was an extension to chrome, but installed it anyway. But as an extension I couldn't see how it did anything at all. Read the reviews and everyone seems to hate it, so maybe I got off easy. This seems useless, I guess I'll just use webmail.

- Nothing like expected. Bought a Chromebook to replace a PC, and Thunderbird is fave client. Figured I could set it up and continue using. 1) Its actually contacting a CentOS server and having you set up the account, EVERY TIME 2) Screen is so crowded because of advertising and compensation for the fact you're using a remote server 3) Tried to set up GMAIL account using OAUTH2, didn't work 4) Lack of security information is suspect Don't take a chance, change password and delete permission for this app ASAP!

- was excited to try this, but found the severely limited space allocated to meaningful display counter productive. The image was grainy and hard to read, and so little usable space left the whole experience lacking. need to do away with the side-bars, and top banner to allocate enough space, for the apps to work in a way which is worthwhile. Shame, really wanted this to work.

- Ne fonctionne pas sur chromebook. Ecran hyper petit entouré de grosses pubs. Impossible à utiliser. Du "foutage de gueule" .. Créez une vraie extension Chrome ! Pas un clone lilliputien en virtuel sur un autre site plein de publicités couvrant l'écran ! Extension à supprimer du Chrome Web Store !

- This is a scam and should be removed from the Chrome Web Store. I don't know quite how it works because I did not want to risk actually setting up an account in Tbird to try it, but it basically wraps what looks like a virtual environment in two big ads as well as a pop-up for something called OffiDocs. I'm surprised that Mozilla or Google haven't taken this down yet already.

- Most chromebooks have a smaller screen - why create a email client that is wrapped by an advertisement for your office apps and make the email client super small? I dont know what happened to thunderbird because it used to be good.
