To get started with SearchBar, wait for it to finish installing, go to a web page such as www.google.com and press F4. If nothing happens, you may need to refresh the page.

HOW DO I USE THE ONE-CLICK SEARCH CUSTOMIZATION?
Right-click on any search engine's input field and select "Add to SearchBar...".
HOW DO I SEARCH SELECTED TEXT?
Selected text is automatically detected, eliminating the need for copy/pasting.
HOW DO I DO A NEW TAB SEARCH?
Hold the Ctrl key while pressing a button or hotkey.
HOW DO I GET THE HOTKEY FOR SHOWING SEARCHBAR TO WORK ON THE NEW TAB PAGE?
Set another hotkey by selecting "Keyboard shortcuts" from the menu of Chrome's Extensions page.
WHY DOES THE EXTENSION NEED TO "ACCESS MY DATA ON ALL WEBSITES"?
Chrome requires this permission to be asked for in order for the extension to be inserted onto every page. However, the extension does not change or use any of your data outside of its declared features. For more information, please see the privacy policy (link below "Additional Information").
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE SUCH AN AMAZING EXTENSION?
This extension was borne out of personal frustration with Chrome's default search system and dissatisfaction with the features of similar extensions. I hope it improves your browsing experience as much as it has mine.
This extension incorporates images from the Tango! Desktop Project. The developer may be compensated by You.com for referrals from SearchBar.

I'm not kidding when I say that I won't switch to Safari as my primary browser specifically because this extension isn't available on Safari. I created eleven custom searches of my most-used websites to the SearchBar. All I have to do is highlight the search word on the web page I'm reading and the selected text is automatically input into the SearchBar. From there, clicking on one of the eleven custom search icons in the search bar takes me directly to the custom search word web page I need. It's perfect.

- (2022-04-03) Poul Thomsen: A LIFESAVER! I have used SearchWP 3.0 in Firefox for many years and later in what has become Waterfox Classic. Waterfox Classic is sadly not usable anymore. This plugin does the same, even though it is not as nice as SearchWP. I am sure this is because of Chrome restrictions. Thank you for the plugin and keep up the good work :-)

- (2021-06-20) Phillip Ford: I've been using the extension Selection Search for years (highlight, right click, context menu has various search options) but this has won me over - it's faster to use, even easier to add custom searches to, and has all sorts of features you can tweak too. The only thing I would add is the option to have the search tab be next to the currently open one - selecting the new tab to be the foreground tab is almost as good, but what I'm asking for would be even handier. Great work!

Of all my extensions, there are only three where I would find browsing unbearable without them, and this is one of them. There is only few things I'd love to see being added to make it PERFECT: 1) Total hit count of searched words (next to each) 2) Next/Prev buttons with a number showing which occurrence 3) Page bar previewing hit locations. It comes as no surprises, that these are the capabilities native search has... but wouldn't it be nice to have all these in one? Native search does not have individual phrase search and coloring, which this extension has.

Infinitely customizable (I even made my own icons) and endlessly usable, SearchBar has personalized my internet experience which I haven't experienced since the days of AOL. Yes, I said it. The AOL interface seemed (albeit clunky) seemed individualized. Anyways, you should support this because he donates the money to a malaria foundation.

This extension is simply fantastic. Every-time I try and say more, it comes back to "thank you" and "fantastic". It is so highly customizable that it is a journey every time I use it, As a language learner, it is indispensable. For continued understanding of my primary language, it goes beyond definitions. The 'journey' is because I can start with a word, grow it to an idea and wind up in Wikipedia learning a lot of related information and more, all with a couple of clicks. To make it optional as to whether to use only one or multiple search engines on the bar at the same time. For instance let's say I have both Google search and Yahoo search on my SearchBar, then I think I should be able to click both Google and Yahoo search and put in my search say it's "where to go square dancing" then both results from both of those engines would both come up at the same time and I think I should be able to choose as many or as little search engines to use simultaneously as I want to. Or I can choose just one search engine if I want. All I suggest is to make that optional.
