Using Gmail for work email and personal email?? Running both of these in the same Chrome session can get really confusing, especially if you are switching back and forth all day.
Run this and the Gmail icon for your work email will become blue. It will detect whether the chrome tab is running Gmail for work and change the gmail favicon (icon in the tab) to a blue icon.

- (2025-05-13) Mark LaFlamme: This extension would be perfect if it could work with the advanced option to show unread mail count on the icon. As it is, you either have the choice of changing your Gmail favicon or keeping the unread count badge. I suspect this is the problem faced by people who can't get this extension to work. Go to your gmail settings, click on the advanced tab and unclick that last option to allow unread count. Your tab should turn blue immediately.

Only minor issue is that it doesn't work if the Advanced Option for showing unread message count in the icon is enabled but that's an understandable limitation. Would be great if that could be solved but otherwise a solid solution to a problem Google should really implement themselves!

Considering it's just a couple of tiny different colored lines compared to two screens of chaos. After installing, reload the tabs for both Gmail accounts. The second will turn blue. But, the name was hard to remember when I was looking to add it to my other Chrome. Even searching for keywords took too many searches. No fanfare, just does what it says, and keeps on doing it. (No nag popups, no extra toolbar icon.) Good, functional. Kudos.
