Description from store Hey! Have you seen the terrific rating above? You must be wondering: “Is it finally a good popup blocker? Should I try it?” Do read the text below to find out if that's something you'd like to give a try. So, answering your questions: “No and Yes” - it isn’t some “good” popup blocker. PopUpOFF is brilliant: https://github.com/RomanistHere/PopUpOFF/issues/16 - and you should definitely try it if you are as annoyed with popups, cookie notifications, overlays and other sticky things that overlay content as I do. Why? - PopUpOFF doesn’t just block some popups that other developers paid for, but YOU are in control of it. You decide not to have any single overlay on the screen or casually remove only the most annoying things (hi cookie notifications and subscription popups). - You can unlock and read PAID content FOR FREE on some websites (see the video above). - Size of this extension is 100 times less than any other average popup blocker in the store. Size doesn’t matter? Well… I wouldn't be so sure about that. - PopUpOFF is a non-commercial and open-source project. It means no ads, no tracking, everything it has is available for you for free and forever. I am RomanistHere and I’m giving you this piece of better web. Drawbacks? - It still is in development, so there could be bugs or imperfect solutions, I’m working on it solo and there are other things in the world to do. So be gentle, I created it for myself back then, but now I’m doing it for you. - PopUpOFF is as addictive as it gets. After you start using it, there would be no way back. (2025-07-05) Peter Mitchell: I know this extension is a bit hit-or-miss for some users... honestly, though, having used it for a few months now, I can safely say it's far better to have it than not - few things are quite so obnoxious as those infuriating, In-Your-Face popup windows that basically FORCE you to jump through hoops before you can even browse or use a website... this extension - when it works! - lets you bypass ALL that BS; sure, it can sometimes break the functionality on certain sites, hence why it only gets four stars instead of five... still, compared to most cookie blockers I've used, PopUpOff *easily* beats the majority of them! A great little utility all round.
(2025-05-28) Fraser Gilchrist: I could not figure out how to kill overlay popups, where clicking anywhere on a page opens a new tab with betway or other random sites. PopUpOff is the ONLY way I have managed to get rid of them. 6/5 stars!

(2024-10-07) Adam N-A: I really enjoy this extension, and I use it a lot. This is not an Ad blocker, this is a pop-up/sticky element blocker. Many sites nowadays have features that "stick" to your screen in some way, and this removes as much of that you want it to. It works well, and allows me to tell a site "No" when it keeps wanting to put stuff in my face. A friend recommended this to me about a year and a half ago, I have enjoyed it this whole time.

(2024-03-16) Gabrielle Spanke: It did almost everything I needed. Unfortunately a lot of the hockey sites I try to go to have invisible overlays that redirect you to a sales URL and I couldn't figure out how to get this extension to recognize them. I finally found something that takes care of that as well so that is why I uninstalled this extension. Other than that, this extension worked really well removing visible overlays and pop-ups.

(2023-12-03) Eddie Ortiz Marrero: Me salio un popup de aviso de bloqueo de anuncios, y lo elimine con ublock pero se congelo la pagina. O sea me obligaba a eliminar el bloqueo de uBlock. Hasta que descubri esta extension despues que habia probado otras que no me agradaron Excelente extension, la configure en modo agresivo y resolvi rapido. Me elimino el pop up y la pagina web no se congelo, tampoco el uBlock. En otras palabras me resolvio. La recomiendo. Ah! free!. Nada como otros que hay que soltar los $.

The setup process is out of this world, with just the right amount of information provided in a very clear and easy to read and understand method. I am truly amazed and think this should be a model to follow by every developer. Thank you and please support this project people, the numbers I saw are way too low. Even this feature of including the number of supporters is brilliant! It made me join and the way the support page was designed was even more brilliant. (2023-10-09) Dr.Ne0Gen3tic (Forensic Buro of Quantum): Der mit Abstand beste PopUp und Overlay Blocker hier im Webstore! Der Entwickler hat sich sichtlich Mühe gegeben, denn dieser Blockt Nervige Overlay effektiv und lässt sie verschwinden oder verschiebt sie aus dem Sichtfeld. So werden z.B. Nervige Cookie Consent PopUps aber auch sonstige andere PoPUps erst gar nicht sichtbar oder verschwinden, sofort! Es ist kein Werbeblocker, sondern ein Overlay oder "Modal" Blocker der wirklich, sehr effektiv arbeitet, ich bin wirklich sehr begeistert! Auch die verschiedenen Modi sind wirklich gut gelungen!

This extension is quiet and hidden, a great QoL piece. The only thing that bothers me is I can't upload files to websites (social media, online converters) by dragging them and dropping, even in dormant mode :(

Also, the interface is very outdated. The last update of the extension was 3 (!) years ago. I am confident that the potential of this extension is huge but the developer needs to monitor the issues and update the extension much more frequently. I’d like to thank the developer tho - I truly believe this extension my become #1 in it’s category
