• (2024-08-18) Halil Halilov: It was good...After the last update something happened ....it brakes web pages it doesn't block properly ads..It block sponsored listing on Amazon and eBay (they are not advertisement) Start changed by 5 to 1...I tried to contact them to report that...it is impossible if you not subscribed to their service...so 1 star and removing it from the browser.

• (2024-05-02) Dr.Ne0Gen3tic (Forensic Buro of Quantum): Hier steckt wirklich "Technik" und Algorithmen dahinter, denn es ist eine riesige Erweiterung. Die Schutzwirkung ist erstklassig, das einzige was man hier sagen muss ist, dass euer Surfverhalten stark getrackt wird, denn jede Webseite wird an die Server von Malwarebytes übertragen, um sie mit einer Malwaredatenbank abzugleichen. Was dann, serverseitig damit passiert ist unklar und nicht ersichtlich, außerdem werden "Timestamps" [Full] und "Session IDs" übertragen, was "Anonym" sein soll, doch die Vergangenheit hat gezeigt, das allein durch diese Kombination, eine "Deanonymisierung" möglich sein könnte. Die Schutzwirkung ist aber ok, ein weiteres Plus ist ein "Heuristischer Adblocker", der anhand des Verhaltens der "Tracker" erkennt, ob es sich um Tracking oder Werbung oder ähnliches handelt. Auch die Schutzwirkung ist ok, es werden einige Datenbanken heruntergeladen und auch online abgeglichen und somit schädliche Webseiten blockiert. Was diese App nicht kann und auch nicht ist, ist ein Malwarescanner im eigentlichen Sinne, Downloads werden blockiert wenn sie schädlich sind, aber der Virenscan ist hier nur ein rudimentärer, einfacher Ansatz eventuell mit Hash Gegencheck wie es der Chromebrowser auch macht, aber einen richtigen Tiefenscan von heruntergeladenen Dateien mittels Carvingtechniken oder ein Entpacken von gepackten Dateien die heruntergeladen werden und ein Gegencheck aller im Archiv befindlichen Dateien sucht man hier vergeblich. Bei den Downloads werden hier nur einfache Ansätze zur Erkennung verfolgt, auch der Malwareschutz basiert eher auf präventiven als auf proaktiven Maßnahmen, d.h. es soll eher von vornherein sichergestellt werden, dass schädliche Webseiten besucht werden.

It stops working upon closing down chrome, the only fix for this it seems is removing the extension from chrome entirely, then readding it back to chrome. upon closing chrome it deactivates and says that it requires you to subscribe to premium. Very strange! it stopped blocking cookies and ad/ trackers too! i had to manually block them on chrome.

It's not so much a case of it being bad, but rather of other extensions doing everything better. Want to block ads and trackers? uBlock Origin is the gold standard. Want protection from phishing and other malicious websites that doesn't compromise your privacy? Get Emsisoft.

• (2023-10-18) farrier noire: DO NOT INSTALL! Malwarebytes Chrome Extension installed 2 malware viruses; Presenoker and HotCleaner. Both viruses disguised themselves as "Appnhost", on separate occasions, which looks and seems like a regular Windows program (because it is, but the viruses take over the name and app itself. This malware will NOT let you delete the Malwarebytes root folder or any other folder that requires Administrator privilege's. It denies you from changing security changes, like accessing a folder as an Administrator or not, changing principles, inheritance, etc.. If that wasn't enough, HotCleaner hijacks your browser, rerouting whatever you do through Microsoft Bing, all in the while of stealing your information behind the scenes, thus showing a ton of pop-ups, all of which are malicious because it's derived from HotCleaner, not whatever actual advertisement company that's shown on the ad. Do not install unless you want to reset your computer, reinstall Windows on your PC, use System Restore to an earlier point in time (although many people say this doesn't get rid of the malware, so it's best to do a complete reset of the PC). Malwarebytes does have a support/troubleshoot tool that has worked for many other people that have experienced this problem. I forgot to mention that Malwarebytes is BLOATWARE to the extreme. Almost as bad as GeForce Experience/NVIDIA. It'll have. I just installed it and within seconds of the installation, there are 5.. FIVE background processes that are taking up roughly 20% of memory. The extension reloads itself every so often, inflating your CPU and memory percentages, slowing down your PC. TL;DR - Don't install Malwarebytes. I've had it on numerous occasions where it has worked "fine", but it only takes once for it to inject malware into your PC, and it gives not one but TWO malware/viruses/trojan's.

I have a malware infection causing a constant popup window with ads. Malwarebytes did not detect it, and when I asked them to help they just repeated to me what information we can all find on a google search. I demanded a refund, which they granted. But I would not trust their malware software.

• (2023-10-10) Ernst Sigl: Its the best filter of baddies I have seen. It is fast and from my many years of experience, no other Browser Guard comes close to Malwarebytes efficiency. If a website I know is clean but complains that i must show the ads, I just turn it off for that site. It remembers it and I have no more pop-ups complaining.

There are a lot of rip-off gold-digging apps doing the same thing with the high paywall. But Malwarebytes give everything for free. This is an underrated app. I highly recommend this extension as an extra protection layer for every web browser.
