• (2025-07-12) Kilroy 5150: Coming from FVD Speed Dial, i must say this is a vast improvement. The part of gathering screenshots for dial pics is a bit disturbing but i understand the process. This is more dynamic and has far more options about the visuals and how the page operates. I read a few early reviews and i hope that the program cleans up after it's self now rather than leaving those directories just sitting there. I'm not quite the 'anal' reviewer some are about those kinds of things but i do like a clean file structure. My future views on this will be balanced on time, new implements (hopefully all with a on/off option) and how well the coder listens and interacts with the people putting down feedback. What i think everyone should understand is this young man has a life 'outside' of this program so he can't spend every waking minute coding to make all of us happy so some things, especially the harder-to-code requests will take time. Some might be impossibile, so be fair about your feedback to him and his program. I left FVD because it was falling apart a piece at a time and it was wanting us to pay them for it having little to no real support. Hence, i'm here, trying his creation and, so far it's pretty good. Let's all sit back, calmly make suggestions, and "see" how it goes and not give in to our darker urges of tearing him apart because he doesn't jump every time we want him to. Now, i'm not talking about anyone in particular, i'm just saying (without really saying) that those who are offended by my suggestion....i'm probably talking to you. Those who shrug and are adult enough to go on about their day, i'm not talking to them. Wrapping up, this project is off to a good start....let's see where it goes.
• (2025-05-10) Jim: Why in heavens name is this extension writing to my c:\program files sub-directory everytime its used either in chrome, vivaldi, or brave ??? NOT COOL ! Here is just one folder example, along with the other 400 PLUS folders it created. I'm glad I caught this before it grew to a serious monster size for sure. Example; Folder Names = chorme_url_fetcher_6654_778866444. Basically everytime you click on a speed dial thats been created this is automatically being created on its own. You need to re-vamp this. Clouding up someones hard drive with empty folders or not, is in no way acceptable, especially without permissions period ! Sad, this had potential for sure. But I will be removing it .

I have some dials like youtube that has the play button in the middle but it doesnt fill the whole dial so you can see part of the background image which sometimes is a issue which can blend the colors to the icon because my wallpaper changes daily. is there a way to fill the background of the dial to a solid color so the dials are not see through?
• (2025-03-22) Jim Lyman: I just came from a nightmare with FVD Speed dial, up until 2 years ago it was ok, average is the highest I will give it. I have been waiting a life time for someone to develop one with a lot of options. Thank You so so much, so far so good. My biggest complaint and will always be, is the FACT one day all your speed dials would be there, and then the next POOF, all your speed dials would be GONE ! I was like after the 4th time this month, he's lucky I can't reach through the screen right now. In closing, when I get a chance I Will buy you a few cups of coffee for sure, and again thanks for this, this looks GREAT !
• (2025-03-20) Michał Polaszek: I used this extension in Vivaldi. In the last few days, the extension stopped working properly. After opening a new tab, an error with chrome (with a bird) appears. You have to click "refresh" 4/5 times, only then the extension appears. Reinstalling the extension did not help. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I'll have to change the extension.
• (2025-03-08) J S: My initial usage for about 2 weeks is that it does everything I need it to. I came from FVD and even though I used it for years there were minor annoyances every so often with it. I put up with it's clunky interface because it worked well, or so I thought. It turns out it was probably one of the main extensions that caused tabs to crash in my browser(Vivaldi, which is what I moved to when Firefox killed FVD). There were even times where, whether through extension error or human "error," my dials would get reset(This last time I deleted storage data for extensions trying to fix a website not loading.) But without an easy unified one file backup(You either needed to copy some code that didn't get every setting, or use another extension to upload to a cloud), it would have been tedious to recover things so I decided to just try something else and I landed on your extension. I find this has a vastly superior interface and offers a lot more customization(like being able to easily give background colors to individual dials. And the "Export all" button works great to save pretty much everything(mainly my thumbnails) and transfer it between different browsers(I may use cloud one day but I really just want an easy offline backup option which this does wonderfully.) One question I have though is does the extension create a cache of the thumbnails as individual files somewhere on the hard drive? At one time I managed to find FVD's cache and it pretty much had small ".png" files with every thumbnail image I used, whether the original was via file or URL. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my setup now(275 dials took a while).
• (2025-03-01) Daniel Praźmo (D.Prazz'd): Why developers still think using Ctrl+Alt for shortcuts is a good idea. AltGr (Ctrl+Alt) is used on Polish systems to input diacritics! The options menu hotkey Ctrl+Alt+O clashes with input for ó on Polish keyboard layout. And there is no way to disable it! Are you serious? I was using it for some time now, but not anymore since it makes my experience unusable.

• (2025-02-26) Norm Cheff: Worked great for years, now nothing (except for "Uncaught TypeError: Promise.withResolvers is not a function".) Everything's gone. I'm not tech-savvy in a lot of ways, so I doubt I can fix this. I think I need to remove this extension, find an alternative in the Chrome store and set up every single dial all over again. Or do they have other plans? They will deliberately drag it out and create compatibility issues to play on our nerves.

(e.g. group speed dial 27.0 only applied on chrome 120+) Chrome always wants to auto update chrome itself and extension for security reason. I have tried lots of trick (e.g. edit dns host ip, windows regedit...) to stop extension auto update but failed. Finally, I install old version of chrome to avoid update some other extension but still hit black screen of group speed dial, sad...

A good extension but the recent update broke on WIN 7. It doesn't work on Edge or Chrome. Sad. More and more I am moving to Linux. Heck my government has WIN XP computers in their defense systems. I'm getting tired of chasing after the latest and greatest. :( There are a lot, a lot and a lot of people using WIN 7 and as for security, I've been using Computers since my Commodore 64 and I have never been hit. Why? Because I don't lurke in bad places and I watch where I go. So I am forced to constantly jump through hoops because of someone who visits porn sites and other dark places? Ugh!

Bug report has been filed.

• (2024-08-15) Steven McGarr: Great extension. Some recent issues with it pinning the websites of any dials with a preview image that updates on a schedule. Edit: Had to disable to this for the moment. Every time it refreshes the preview images its adding them all as pinned tabs. Before it was just once in a while, but now all the time.

I just got a email from the Simkl devs indicating we are less than 2 weeks away from Manifest 3 and according to them Manifest 2 extensions will not work with it. • (2024-06-16) Abimanikunda Barahirwa Jacques: I have taken time without using this extension, because the dials could not be synchronized to my phone chrome app. So I had switched to visual bookmarks which is good but then lacks to automatic synchronization of thumbnails whenever I move to a new device. So it's hard to always manually re-update the thumbnails. So I have come back to this app and just bear with it for not having that direct relationship with the bookmarks.

Установил Group Speed Dial, и в восторге, нет ненужной поисковой строки в поле с дилами, очень много визуальных настроек иконок, наконец есть возможность выбрать иконки с закруглёнными краями, как было когда-то давно в Speed Dial. Есть возможность запоминания интересующей части сайта, для оформления окна дила. Всё очень быстро открывается. В самом приложении есть инструкции как быстро перенести все дилы из других приложений. Рекомендую переходить на Group Speed Dial, главное набраться терпения. так как тут очень много настроек. РАЗРАБОТЧИКУ -СПАСИБО !!!

Originally I used to use FVD (Forward Speed Dial) before - but it was banned in Firefox due to security problems. I had about 1000 web-pages in over 15 groups as Speed Dials in FVD and I was desperately looking for replacement... Then I found This! Group Speed Dial exceeds FVD by any standard. Thanks to Groups Speed Dial's options, I was even able to import all my 1000 Speed Dials from FVD to Group Speed Dial... Which was a saviour of my Day! - Great successor for FVD. Exceeds FWD in every way. - Compared to FWD you can by default save your Speed Dials to your own computer. - Unlimited options to UI appearance. For new users I would advice patience while using this extension. The default installation is a blanc canvas with huge sized speed dials, but a user can modify the look and size of dials almost unlimitedly. - Take a little time to study all the possibilities this extension offers.

• (2024-03-19) Steve Cc: I can't use this add-on. It wastes too much bandwidth. It reloads speed dial pictures every time it runs. It was supposed to be fast but I would call it painfully slow because reloading from internet instead of using hard drive is slow. There's no reason to reload/update picture million times. It might be OK if you're using it with cable internet connection but on mobile metered connection it's nightmare. // edit 19.03.24: I use "Custom thumbnail from URL" option. Best way to troubleshoot is to disable network. No network = no pictures. To be more precise I meant when I restart browser but I also have seen some issue when opening new tab and most speed dials loaded as they should but speed dial pointing to http://192.168.0.1/ with custom picture from internet didn't show any picture at all. I don't think it's browser settings as I've used FVD for many years and they load correctly from disk.

This extension has morphed from a plain everyday application that fulfilled a need, into a phenomenal must-have browser addition built on that plain old one that is now sooo full of features that I still have not caught up with! I can say that it has absolutely spoilt me! It is one of the few bookmarkers that works across all the main browsers barring Opera, and synchronises from the cloud. The only thing is.... this addon have dark mode but this doesnt work in setting itself, it is still bright white. Even then it is the best speed dial.

• (2024-01-19) John Baker: It seems this add-on is going to be an acceptable alternative to FVD Speed Dial, which the developers ruined by getting greedy. Comparing features between the free and "pro" versions, I didn't see anything in the pro version I'd consider worth paying for, but if the developer would consider adding a way to put some space between the top row of dials and the top of the window (I don't really like the dials being at the very top), an option to adjust the opacity of the dials and an option to hide the unnecessary "plus" tile, I might change my mind about that (if it had those features, I'd have given it five stars).

• (2023-12-14) Harold Anderson: I was excited about finding an alternative to FVD Speed Dial. However, I'm going in circles trying to create an account. I've gone through the process several times. The first time, I got a message saying that my account already exists. So I try to change my password. Each time that I input a new password, I'm told, after trying to sign in with it, that I have invalid credentials. I don't see a way past this problem. There's no way to get in touch with the developer.

Y me he encontrado con una aún mejor y que además funciona más rápidamente. Y además me ha dejado importar todos los datos que tenía en el FVD, por lo que no he tenido que empezar desde cero a dejarlo todo como lo tenía antes. Estoy encantado. Mejor imposible.
• (2023-12-07) Mark Cameron-Smith: Just switched over to Group Speed Dial today after being shafted by FVD when they added a search bar which is not able to be removed. I should have switched to this YEARS ago. It's so much better. Easier to set up, tweak looks, etc. It supports SVG thumbnails - I would have switched to this for that alone. So good. Thank you.
