Install the vlc:// protocol handler here: https://github.com/stefansundin/vlc-protocol
You should use this together with VLC playlist parsers. Here's an example playlist parser: https://addons.videolan.org/p/1167220/
Please do not use this extension if you do not understand the above.
You can right-click on links, iframes, and audio/video elements, and use the "Open with VLC" menu item.

"Open with VLC" is a poor choice of title. I want to open an AVI file, nothing to do with a web page.
Good extension, doesn't ask for unnecessary permissions
I love this extension! I was trying to find a way so that when I browse to a video link on my NAS, it would automatically send the link to VLC without having to click a button to send to vlc. With the help of this extension, I can do exactly that! I also needed the help with another extension called REDIRECTOR to automatically add vlc:// to any url that matches the one to my NAS. Then this extension detects the vlc:// and does its magic. I installed with the .bat option so I can easily customize the batch script to properly handle the NAS url (by default, it couldn't handle the & in the url).
