Hide That!
This extension can hide or remove selected elements on a page. Useful for removing invasive adverts, banners and overlays.
The primary feature of this extension allows users to hide any element on the page with a simple right-click menu action.
Advanced features on the Options page also allows the user to automatically close invasive popup windows, as well as automatically hide selected elements when the page is loading.
Several other customizable settings are also available on the Options page.
NOTE:
- The primary right-click functionality of this extension does not permanently hide the element. Any page refresh will bring back the full page as intended. To automatically hide elements when loading a page please try the ‘Automatic Hiding’ feature on the Options page.
- Once the extension is added to Chrome, any pages you already have open will need to be refreshed for the extension to start working.
- The icon menu for chrome extensions should display to the right of the address bar (a puzzle piece).

I tried only on one website, but got this to work only temporarily, after refreshing with F5 no longer works. Yes I tried to add both the webpage and the website to always-hide. This was the site and page I was trying to clean: https://www.foreca.fi/Finland/Helsinki/Malmi
~BRILLIANT~!!! It seems every website you visit needs to display ads, popups, sign in prompts and cookie preference banners. With Hide That! you can remove these elements instantly, eliminating all the junk that comes with modern web UIs. Thanks devs!
Perfect. You just saved me hours when hiding elements manually when printing receipts from Gmail. Thank you.
Simple and effective. More immediately useful than hand-rolling with greasemonkey or manual CSS overloading setups.
simple and does the job
NOT WORKING ON THIS WEBSITE https://www.kidpaw.net/names/inspiration/99-names-of-prophet I RIGHT CLICKED BUUUT NO OPTION TO HIDE. BAD EXPERIEENCE
Just downloaded it and already loving it!Keeping 5 star until (If) I find any bug.
Although I can see how some people might need the default use with the right-click menu, for me the most important functionality is the automatic hiding by selector. So after I realized that it doesn't support the non-standard :contains() selector (ok, fair enough, as I wrote, non-standard), I managed to write a selector that correctly identifies the items I want to hide in a list (tested with document.querySelectorAll() in the console), but it still doesn't hide them. And I'm guessing it's because the website uses Next/React, and it runs too fast, probably on the initially served HTML which is probably empty, so it doesn't "see them". Maybe a run delay option in milliseconds would solve this, otherwise it will not work on most modern SPA apps.
Looks good but cant figure out if it is possible to hide / conceal a keyword that repeats in the page?
Fabulous invention !!!
It does work but it only hides the elements after the page is loaded and not before like Ublock does.
Works great, I've been looking for something like this for a long time!
Works very well and also very well documented. Even somebody without coding experience in CSS can use this due to the good documentation and the tool being very powerful and flexible.
What a brilliant plugin!
Work well but it would be great if it can hide the address bar as well.

I've tried a few "element erasers", and this one is by far the easiest to use and does the best overall job.

This is a great extension. Only caveat for new users is that auto-hiding is not very clearly explained by the dev in the options page. It works like this: first you hide what you want to hide via right clicking and selecting "Hide that!". Then you click on the extension icon to the right of the navigation bar (it must be pinned there beforehand) and there will be the option to auto-hide (which opens the extension config page, then you can simply close it). Worked like a charm for an annoying flashing message icon in my ERP.

Very helpful in hiding old google classroom classes whenever teachers don't archive it.

Very helpful for ads/popups and just making more space for other elements.

This is an exceptional extension for removing many annoying nuisances covering obstructing my view while reading in manga sites. My only problem is that I cannot remove these annoying "sticky borders" that keeps on appearing even if I hide "body > div.wrap > div > header > div.c-sub-header-nav.with-border.sticky" with or without symbol #. Can anybody help me solve this? I rewally don't know how to get rid of this.

Amazing one-of-a-kind extension, would be even nicer if/when the "Automatic Hiding" feature becomes more user friendly

Dao Seeker, I’ve got your back man!! This is a great extension people! First of all, I've actually read what this extension is supposed to do, and it does EXACTLY what I was hoping it would do. Its function is to disable annoying AF elements on pages TEMPORARILY, but allow the restoration of that functionality when needed. The reason I was looking for an extension like this was to block the seemingly ever present hover / dropdown menus that populate the top of so many web pages today. When navigating and you hover over them for a microsecond, you get a drop down list that blocks your view, stays present for way to long, and makes navigation a real chore. This behavior drives me absolutely crazy. Having said that, I have plenty of extensions that can block this behavior PERMANENTLY, but that in itself creates a real headache if you need to access these annoying web elements eventually. So what this extension does is lets you view the page, block the trash, do your thing, and then re-enable any needed navigation elements with a simple F5 refresh if needed. Brilliant! Thank you very much! This extension is now in my “mandatory install” list. Thank you and please keeps up the good work!! P.S. For those of you who would (and should) give it a try, I suggest: “Single click – Remove” under Right Click Menu Action. That seems to work the best and makes the most sense for me. Enjoy!
