Description from store *** Block Site is now on the safer manifest v3. Please report the compatibility bugs you are experiencing. You can export the current rules to a JSON file and send it to me to investigate. *** This extension will block access to websites of your choosing. A master password controls all customization options, as well as access to any blocked site. It's also possible to redirect navigation from one specific website to another. Features: 1. Block unwanted domains. 2. Prevent access to a range of websites using wildcard matching or regular expression matching. 3. Reverse mode allows access to only some hostnames and blocks access to all others. 4. Custom redirection; you can redirect a single blocked hostname to a new destination. 5. Display a custom message on blocked pages. 6. Time and date-based blocking. Only block access to the websites at specified times and dates. This feature can be configured per hostname. 7. Protect data leakage. This extension prevents certain hostnames from gathering network activity from your computer since blocking occurs before any network request is emitted to the server. 8. Auto-closes blocked tabs after some time. 10. Closes annoying pop-ups as soon as the opening request is received. 11. Pause and resume blocking from the right-click context menu of the toolbar button. 12. Support overwriting configurations by managed storage 13. Block cached page load with service worker 14. Block dynamic page change with history push method For the FAQs and general feature suggestions please use: https://webextension.org/listing/block-site.html For technical bug reports use: https://github.com/ray-lothian/Block-Site/issues

  • (2025-07-10) AHMED HASSAN: Amazing extension. I hate the fact that I've developed a dependency towards it but that just shows how good it is. I really like the forwarding feature, allowing for quick redirection to my offline HTML where I remind myself of my goals. Please continue offering this extension for free. Thank you!
  • (2025-06-27) Aidan Mickle: I use this to limit my social media time. It works ok, and my social media time has decreased since installing it. I like being able to add a custom message or automatic redirect. It's very complicated to use beyond just the basics, however, and the FAQ is filled with example code and tells the user to "create a rule" without explaining how/where on the options page to do that (the "Add a Rule" header link redirects to the FAQ, "block a new hostname" offers only a space for the URL, etc). The "scheduled unblocking" doesn't feel intuitive (scheduled blocking would make more sense), and sometimes it just doesn't work and will leave a website unblocked outside of the scheduled hours. This doesn't happen on days that have no scheduled unblocking, so it seems an issue with the schedule feature. This extension feels like it was originally developed for companies that have IT departments that are familiar with this type of coding, then it was made publicly available as an afterthought. If you're an average person who just needs the basics of a blocking a website and redirecting elsewhere, this is great. If you want a little more customization, this will do it, but it will be a struggle if you're not already familiar with coding.
  • (2025-06-19) Jaxon Dozier: #1 extension I use everyday. It blocks sites, and allows me to make it redirect me somewhere else. I will give it 5 stars.
  • (2025-06-18) ʂσρԋιҽ: This is actually amazing. I was just looking for a block site extension that allows me to write a long paragraph to myself because I need to remember my ultimate goal(the WHY) in order to maintain discipline. It's also so inclusive and limitless, unlike the overrated blocksite extension that only lets you block 3 websites. I hope with all my heart this creator continues to be generous with the extension! Thank you.
  • (2025-05-21) Jonathan Tippy: can block a site, but very very difficult to work out how to use the scheduled unblocking feature. Also, Would much prefer if it had a scheduled blocking feature instead.
  • (2025-04-26) U. Eze: Very solid - straight to the point blocking tool. Good customization features as well

  • (2025-01-06) Ivan Popov: There is a bug with the redirection URL during AJAX navigation. Try the following steps to reproduce: 1) Create a redirection URL. 2) Use a URL block, for example, "https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=4k+video", and save it. 3) If you paste the URL into the omnibox and navigate, everything will work correctly. 4) However, if you open "www.youtube.com" and enter "4k video" in the search bar, you will not get the redirection URL. But extension works great. Thank you!

  • (2024-11-22) MD Noman torofder: This app is very helpful for any productive work.
  • (2024-11-21) Dayton Livingston: Will ONLY block top-level domains. So if, for example, you wanted to block https://copilot.microsoft.com/ that wouldn't work, as it will block ALL of microsoft.com This all-or-nothing approach severally reduces it's usefulness.
  • (2024-11-11) Harsh W: it works well and is free!
  • (2024-10-14) Angel Brito: This is extremely useful, it is undoubtedly the best free extension to lock windows, the only problem it has is that it does not allow iframes to be unlocked, if it had this option it would be perfect. Greetings!

  • (2024-08-11) Nathan Whitmer: Works like I want a site blocker to. Most other options only block specific URL's while this one lets me easily block a whole site. Simple and very effective.
  • (2024-07-19) Jin: working well I need a whitelist function. For example, I want to block access to youtube.com, but still allow access to music.youtube.com.
  • (2024-07-15) Isaac Lemos: Just great, has all everyone needs and nothing more (as should it be)

  • (2024-03-12) Lite Chen: Appreciate the extension, but it seems unnecessary to require a password for site blocking.
  • (2024-02-28) Yahrite Fohb: Installing an extension shouldn't open a website. That is intrusive and suspicious. I am downloading an extension, it should be self contained.
