IMPORTANT:

With this extension, you can:
1) Double-click any word to view its definition in a small pop-up bubble.
2) View the complete definition of any word or phrase using the toolbar dictionary.
3) Store a history of words you've looked up, so you can practice them later.
Foreign words are automatically translated to your language of choice.

If you opt in (via the options page), this extension will store a history of all your looked-up words and their definitions. You can download this history as a CSV file at any time. - (2023-11-09) Cold Foot: I really wished this extension could have worked for me, but it doesn't seem to search any dictionaries that include biological and medical terminology. It has potential to be so useful if users could search for or add field-specific dictionaries, or if there were an option to (at least) provide a definition of the Greek/Latin roots if a word isn't recognized. On the plus side, definitions were successfully provided during 25-30% of usage. But the experience has been more frustrating and significantly disappointing overall, to the point where I feel inclined to provide excessive feedback in a review.

- (2023-09-20) Jer: Google Dictionary lacks an incredible number of words. Believe me there are many but the one which brought me to review was 'barometric'.. Although I already know the meaning of some of the words I look up, for those I am usually just curious to know the formal definitions. I am appalled at how many of these common words are not in Googles dictionary. The majority of words I lookup I genuinely do not know the meaning nor can Google provide one. These are most often words only used in a specialty field such as branches of science. While I am understanding and more forgiving toward most dictionaries omission of such entries, I would have otherwise assumed Google of all sources would fall above my standards. Surprisingly, Google in my experience is not above my standard but actually lower. Indeed I'm writing this review solely because I've had finally enough. I am now using the Oxford dictionary. It seems much more complete and I am happy. I figure there are at least a small number poeple whose use-cases are similar to mine. tldr - Simply put, extensions based on Google Dictionary do not have a large approx. number of definitions and I require more. However, I think most other people will be satisfied.

- (2023-09-02) Julian LaFreniere: Used to be amazing, but it hasn't worked for me for several months at least. The hot key you make to hold while you select or click a word/phrase no longer seems to do anything. That was how I used this. There a better extensions if I want to take the time to click on the actual extension every time I want a definition. Please update this. It's a simple extension so I don't imagine updating it isn't very complicated for those who know how, but it's been abandoned for a while now and I hate to see something that added real utility and flexibility to how I used the web, that should only needs a little TLC, to die. I would have given it five stars but it isn't useful to me anymore. I left three stars because when does still work if you manually click the extension to look up a word.

Does it only not work for Mac users? Is this some kind of spat between google and apple? Figure it out!!

I have tried everything to make the pop-up work, including resetting Chrome, trying different configuration options, trying "None" and "Keys," etc. (Note: other dictionary extensions' pop-ups DO WORK.) Having to manually copy and paste words and not being able to access the fast pop-up feature is a big minus. I have seen many users criticize the same problem since at least February 2023. PLEASE PROVIDE A SOLUTION, as I would like to use your application as it has good voice lines for learning proper pronunciation
