Download fanfiction as ebook files from a number of popular sites. Simple to use, with beautiful results.
1. Browse to story;
2. Click the FicLab 'save' button;
3. Download the ebook.
Supports ePub, Kindle, PDF, markdown, plain text, MS Word (docx) and HTML. You can also download cover images on their own as PNG files.
A Note About Permissions:
This extension uses an "access all sites" permission. The purpose of this permission is to allow publishers to add support for their own sites, in addition to the sites that are supported natively. It will be used to add the 'save' button to supported sites, and to fetch story content from those sites. It will not be used for anything else, and will never access or modify any site other than fiction sites that are supported for ebook conversion by the extension.
A Note About Manifest V3
As of July 2025, the most recent version of Chrome may prevent users from installing extensions written to the Manifest v2 spec - unfortunately, this includes FicLab. This is part of Google’s efforts to force developers to upgrade their extensions to the newer v3 standard.
I am currently working on the v3 upgrade for FicLab, however this is a lot of work, and as FicLab is a hobby project I work on in my limited spare time, it’s taking a while. I don’t have an ETA for when this will be ready, but can confirm that it will definitely be back! In the meantime, please use the Firefox version of FicLab.

Absolutely great extension. Still working in Vivaldi, at least as of today. Have you looked at the beta of Fanfiction.net's new website at new.fanfiction.net yet (invitation codes are available at Fictionpress' X/Twitter site) to see if you will be able to continue to support the website after it transitions?
It no longer works
I love using this extension and have never had any problems with it. However when I was on my extension page to get rid of another extension today, I saw the following message in reference to Ficlab: "This extension may soon no longer be supported because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions." What's happened? Will you be releasing an updated version?
It worked great until I started getting this message: "Error: TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'textContent')" whenever I tried saving a story. Any recommendations on how to fix?
What are the supported website?
Good capabilities, but now I can only download stories if they are in chapters.

Wow... just the thing to archive some favorite fanfictions off a particular fanfic site that doesn't have a convenient export function. A little experiment to find the right mix of settings, and wow... this is incredibly handy and easy to use. Far simpler than saving each page as a text file, then importing into a document editor to piece together all the chapters of a story. Very shiny...

My go-to for fic archiving. Lots of customization, and you can pick the font-size and spacing to find something easy on the eyes. Also, had a small issue on my end that Steve was able to troubleshoot really quickly. Amazing work!

A godsend when it comes to archiving fics. Can't believe it works on FFN since most other FF downloaders don't work post their infrastructure overhaul.

Worked perfectly with fanfiction.net, which was a godsend as all the usual sites are unable to download from there recently. I really appreciate the resource!

When saving fanfics from FF.net, there is no option to use the generic FicLab epub cover the extension provides instead of whatever the fanfic cover or profile picture authors use, resulting saving the fanfics without a cover. Would generally like an one-click option that allows the generic book cover to be used instead.

I got these errors on some 'API error: pandoc: Could not parse YAML header: mapping values are not allowed in this context "source" (line 20, column 447) pandoc: Error in $: expected HashMap Text a, encountered Array' EDIT: There is also a communication error now; Communication error [error]: Internal Server Error Reply

This is an amazing addition to my Chrome. I'm a huge fan of FictionPress (I write and read) and it's good to be able to enjoy a story on there and save it before the author deletes it. It's quick and easy and has such a great format!
