Phishing is a type of cybercrime in which an attacker attempts to get your confidential information through forms of deception. A cybercriminal undertaking this attack will attempt to contact a individual through email or text posing as a legitimate source, the messages lead the individual to a spoofed website allowing the attacker to obtain any information the user enters.
Phishing is currently one of the most commonly used cybercrimes users face around the world. In the academic field there are multiple researchers aiming to solve this steadily growing problem that we are facing. This paper introduces an educational approach in the form of a google chrome extension that will aim to educate each user while actively preventing phishing attacks. The extension will incorporate machine learning approach in order to detect newly generated phishing content and constantly give information to the user upon request.
The software will help educate individuals on phishing attacks as well as how to detect them. In return this will also benefit industries by allowing them to spend less money on security measures and security teams and allocating money to more beneficial areas.
