iCloud Passwords
Description from store

iCloud Passwords lets you securely fill passwords from iCloud Keychain when signing in to websites using Chrome. Any new passwords you create in Chrome are saved to your iCloud Keychain so that they are also available across your Apple devices. The extension can also generate verification codes, which you can set up by right-clicking on a QR code.

The iCloud Passwords extension is compatible with macOS Sonoma or later, and Windows versions supported by the iCloud for Windows app. To enable the extension on a PC, download the iCloud for Windows app from the Microsoft Store and enable iCloud Passwords.

For some time now, having this tool has become unbearable; instead of helping, it slows you down by blocking access and forcing you to change your password again.

I'm surprised this has 2.3 stars. Works perfectly.

The input password options pops up on every text input so I disabled that option in the extension settings but that didn't change anything. This extension also disables the chrome password autocomplete, even when the option is turned off. I am removing this extension.

It works... however the authentication is a bit weird. I understand that Chrome's not the primary browser from Apple, but I'd appreciate if this worked with TouchID at least.

Horrible but still using it due to no better alternative... It's safety is useless though: you are required to enter a security code to verify it's you, that pops up on the same screen. So regardless of who wants to log-in, they can by just entering the code that appears. It also blocks input fields, it triggers at random moments etc. Horrible quality.

Official apple but does not work

1. it works 2. but it is hella inconvenient, this eternal xxx xxx number... apple pls fix that. other browser extensions like Proton Pass or LastPass or Dashlane have done it better, but this one is free and a slight ladder out of the Luxury Prison that is the apple walled garden...
Tim O'Kane
Not working with chrome. Able to enter device pin and retrieve the passwords, but the handoff says that the passwords need to be enabled in icloud, which it already is. Endless do loop.

As balanced as I can be: If you use an iphone, this is really handy to have, or even unifying multiple browsers, however there are downsides and issues I have with it. 1. You NEED to install icloud for windows which isn't the best software in itself and feels intrusive to have (Also defeats the point of mixing your tech so you're not caught in a walled garden). They could have avoided it, but alas no. 2. It doesn't actually tell you on the addon menu that icloud for windows is REQUIRED. I had to look up why the addon isn't working. If you see people saying it isn't supported or that it doesn't work, it's because Apple hasn't done it's job properly. I assume the macOS side also has requirements it's forgotten to mention. Besides that, it works well as a password manager/generator. Far too intrusive and annoying to set up for me to give anything above 3 stars, if apple explained how the addon worked better then perhaps I could make this a 4 star review. 5 stars if they remove the need for icloud for windows as well.

WORST plug-in EVER! It blocks input fields. It always asks me the pin code. I'l' never ever use it again!

I had high hopes since this was introduced, but it faulters in a couple of ways. Firstly, you'll have to enter a 6 digit verification code every time you launch the browser, proceeded by your password or touch ID. Secondly, it doesn't allow you to generate or suggest a new password in the browser, you'll have to open Passwords and create a new record. Ultimaltely, I am just going to remove this extension and go back to using the Brave built in password management, it's more convenient and I can sync amongst my devices.

Glad it's working well for some of you. I had high hopes, but when installed it in Chrome on my new Mac Mini it successfully entered the password on the first site I used it on, but somehow corrupted the record in the Passwords app where it recorded what appears to be an abbreviated version of the password. It also seems to cause a conflict with universal clipboard. So, yeah, one star.

i download just now. and i don't know why it's got this lower rating. It seems to work well I'm happy to find it's existing.

I’ve had a very frustrating experience using this extension. I hope Apple continues to prioritize and enhance this extension and ensures better system-level reliability and compatibility compared to third-party extensions.

It's nice to consolidate password storage in one location

Terrible extension

The iCloud Passwords Chrome extension aggressively scans inline SVG elements on hover by cloning and reloading them as images. This causes duplicated processing, unnecessary requests (via blob URLs), and visible flickering, even for non-QR decorative SVGs. This behavior negatively impacts performance and interferes with normal web rendering. function scanElementForQRCode(

Constantly asking for revalidation.

what an idiotic extension. Every time you launch chrome you have to type in 6 digits.
Troy Flinn
Constant errors that only a reboot seems to solve (...sometimes). Garbage, going back to Lastpass.

No major issues with syncing across personal phone and multiple personal windows PCs / laptops, keep your phone handy for verification purposes and it autofills passwords pretty well - wish I had this during college RIP.
Matt Giguere
Works great for me. It's not as feature rich as some other options, but I love that it syncs between my devices for free and I hope they continue improving their Passwords app and adding new features. Thanks Apple!
Ray Elser
opens up and the screen is frozen with someone's name I've never heard off. Get to work Apple!

Very poor extension. Frequently glitches. I encounter synchronization issues daily. Apple--fix it!

doesn't work
David Grossman
It works passively good in Chrome and Edge but not in other Chromium-based browsers such as ChatGPT Atlas. It is very clunky how you have to keep entering in a pop-up code. This is what keeps bringing me back to Safari as my main browser. Unless you want to pay for a subscription, sticking with Safari seems to be the only way to have a reliable password manager without paying subscription fees
SimonJ Smith
Doesn't have the same functionality as competitors who are able to generate new secure passwords in Chrome on sign-up to different sites. That feels like an essential part of a password extension and stops me recommending this as a replacement for other well known password managers. If I'm using Chrome I don't want to have to go off to Safari or the passwords app every time I need to create a new account somewhere. This will also get in the way of enterprise adoption of this tooling.
Fiona Dean
Worked really well until it required 2-factor authentication that won't pop up on my phone or anywhere else...

Keeps dumping error messages into chrome dev console about reading `control` from undefined...

The most stupid app that I have ever seen.

The extension itself is useful and I appreciate that you’'e brought it to Chrome. However, it currently has several issues that make using it as a frontend developer quite painful. To start with, whenever you type into certain inputs or textareas that the app doesn't like, it floods the console with errors. The following error is thrown on the input event, meaning it appears every single time a character is typed: ``` 10:38:59.102 content_script.js:1 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'control') at content_script.js:1:422999 at Array.some (<anonymous>) at shouldOfferCompletionListForField (content_script.js:1:422984) at elementWasFocused (content_script.js:1:423712) at MetadataHeuristicsRunner.findAndFocusActiveElementIfPossible (content_script.js:1:407648) at content_script.js:1:406155 (anonymous) @ content_script.js:1 shouldOfferCompletionListForField @ content_script.js:1 elementWasFocused @ content_script.js:1 findAndFocusActiveElementIfPossible @ content_script.js:1 (anonymous) @ content_script.js:1 setTimeout (anonymous) @ content_script.js:1 runHeuristics @ content_script.js:1 runtimeMessageHandler @ content_script.js:1 ``` From an end-user perspective, the password-generation flow is also very frustrating. If you want to generate a password, you have to manually open the Passwords app, pretend you're creating a new password, copy it, cancel the process, go back to Chrome and paste it into the form, and then just hope the extension detects it and offers to save it. The password generator should be embedded directly in the extension and offered when creating an account, instead of forcing users to jump to a different app or browser. With this behavior, users won't switch to Safari, they'll switch to a different password manager. Also, having to constantly log in because closing the browser clears the session is very inconvenient. Persisting the session (or at least offering a reasonable “stay signed in” option) would significantly improve the overall experience. These are only some of the pain points we users and developers have with this extension. Not a very Apple-like experience.

Would love to have access to my Apple Passwords for my Chromebook/ChromeOS without the need for any third party apps, Though no official iCloud application on Play Store exists unfortunately.

This extension works well on my ChatGPT Atlas browser.
James Wilson
It's solid, the only issue is that you have to authenticate Chrome with 6 digits pretty frequently

Please add Atlas browser support!

This extension stopped working after upgrading my Mac OS from 13 to 14. Please fix this.

What's the purpose if it's not working even...?

After recent update is now partially duplicating the passwords that are autofilled in Chromium based browsers. Double checking all passwords to avoid lockouts until this is fixed.
Michael Schwartz
It kinda works but trash quality
Luka Cosic
It used to work but now enters double the password in chrome, causing each login to fail

It's not work with Genspark, Atlas and Comet AI browsers. Apple, take this situation under control.

This works great - I have no idea why people give it poor ratings whatsoever...it works seamlessly...
