This extension offers a toolbar button to save the current page in the MHTML/MHT web archive format, which converts all online links to the offline version and saves all online resources offline enabled.
Right-click Context Menu Functions:
1. Design Mode: You can edit the current page and add or remove images.
2. Reader View (declutter): Simplifies the page by keeping the main content only. It removes banners, toolbars, and advertisements from the page. This extension uses Mozilla's Readability library to simplify web pages.
3. Keep Selection Only: Creates a new document from the selected text. Use it if you need to archive part of a page.
MHTML (short for MIME HTML) is a file extension for a Web page archive file format. The archived Web page is an MHTML document. MHTML saves the Web page content and incorporates external resources, such as images, applets, Flash animations, and so on, into HTML documents.
When you save a Web page as a Web archive, the page is saved as an MHTML file. Any relative links in the HTML will be remapped so the content can be located. Relative links are those that don't include all information about the location of the content but assume all content is in a directory on the host server
MHTML files may also go by the extension MHT.

Since I cant find any software, IE was there but not anymore post discontinuation, so please guide. I have saved some webpages but cant read them. No extension mht and mhtml file reader or software on windows or chrome?

- (2019-12-06) Patrick Grochowy: It's a shame, that the PMs of Chrome removed that feature completely and it's a great releif, that this plugin kind of re-enables it again, even with worse UI. In the past you could just activate it via the normal settings, then they moved it, so you could only activate it via finding the correct 'flag' (chrome://flags), then they removed it from there and you could only activate the option with a startup-switch ("c:\...\Application\chrome.exe" --save-page-as-mhtml). Now they removed even that. Really a shame, mhtml is a good (and afaik only) way, to save articles etc. and be able to read them even many years in the future Independently from any servers to still be alive. Absolutely not understandable, that Chrome PMs remove such an important feature. :-(
- (2019-12-04) Миша Хантер: It works in Opera, but in Chrome I get "This type of file may harm your computer." in Downloads tab, it requires to click "Keep" and "Keep anyway" buttons. With "Save As MHT" there is no such problem

- (2019-06-09) Alex Romero: Сохраненные MHT страницы открываются в оффлайн режиме. Что нужно сделать чтобы эта оффлайн страница загрузилась в онлайн режиме? Аналог был в UnMHT - кнопка в конце URL при нажатии на которую оффлайн страница перезагружалась в онлайн режим - это было очень удобно. Если в этом расширении этой функции нет, то это плохое расширение и пользоваться им неудобно.

- (2019-06-07) Tony Roger: tried several times of clicking that button, it just generate some file like: 6c4dde05-cb55-46e0-a9a9-ffd727b16395.txt, when i change it into 6c4dde05-cb55-46e0-a9a9-ffd727b16395.mhtml, it's ok to open as expected. but just don't know why the file name and the file extension is like that, which is not expected at all.
