This extension will detect a web page's character set and display it in the upper right.
The Charset Detective will analyze what character set each web page you visit is using (e.g., UTF-8, ISO-8859-1, etc.) and display it in a small green box on the top right of every page.
If the character set of a page is not UTF-8, there is a button to report the domain and character set to the UTF8Ubiquity.org Project. This will enable people to crowdsource the detection of websites that are using non-optimal character sets (e.g., ISO-8859-1) and help garner a grassroot movement to get the website's developers to change.
After all, non-UTF8 character sets are *so* 20th Century.
