  • (2021-08-26) Chad Martini: Works as intended! For those wondering, in the instructions link provided on the extension page it states that this extension does NOT collect any data, which is wonderful. https://gitlab.com/redribbon/gmail-reverse/blob/master/README.md#privacy-policy
  • (2021-08-20) TJ: Stopped working recently in Gmail.
  • (2021-08-13) Chan Co: Perfect.
  • (2021-07-27) Handsome Jason: Its useless in gmail interface, nothing changes
  • (2021-07-17) Serge Fabre: This extension doesn't do anything it just runs in the background and ahs no functionality to it. It seems to be working for others but not me.
  • (2021-06-24) Adam Ainsworth: Perfect - exactly what I wanted. Whoever design the default Gmail experience must have been an idiot.
  • (2021-06-17) Mohammad Hamdan Afridi: THAT'S THE POINT I HATE IT!
  • (2021-05-25) Ken Gladstone: As a long-long-longtime Outlook user, I've always hated the Gmail web interface, and now I know why! Who wants newer messages at the bottom?!?! This extension is a Godsend! I wish I'd known about it ages ago! Thank you a million times over!
  • (2021-04-22) Vinay Kumar M: This is very helpful Thanks a lot :)
  • (2021-04-18) p.uaaris: Really useful
  • (2021-04-07) Anders Thulin: This is how conversation view should work
  • (2021-03-06) F L: This sounds like something I could use; however, it does not work. I followed the README to the letter, restarted, and ... nothing. I wasted more time trying to get it to work with the same result. Your mileage may vary.
  • (2021-03-01) Hester Fuller: Does just what I wanted - thank you!
  • (2021-02-25) Jeffrey Ianni: works as expected! it's a lot easier to look at conversation view without having to scroll a billion miles to the bottom of a thread.
  • (2021-02-20) Jeff Hale: To whomever wrote this code, THANKS! I found it after weeding through a boatload of Google finds, and had it downloaded and working perfectly in less than 5 min. A big productivity win for me. Keep up the good work! jeh
  • (2021-01-16) Alec Jimenez: Does exactly what it says it will, even though its not been updated since 2018, works like a charm.
  • (2021-01-10) Shelby Taylor: Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'll never understand why the most recent email would default to the bottom of the page. Long threads would take FOREVER to read and respond to. This takes so much pain out of checking and responding to email in Gmail. Things of note: - The reply, forward, and get link buttons are now all located conveniently at the top - When you click forward, the cursor jumps automatically to the To: field (rather than the body as one recent reviewer lamented)
  • (2021-01-08) Mike Tucker: Thank you ! I noticed there was another extension to bring the reply buttons to the top but this little dream does this also ! Perfect !
  • (2020-12-20) Filippo Corti: Simply brilliant and easy
  • (2020-12-08) Ilja Buchmüller: Works as described in latest Chrome. Last e-mail in thread is on top. Saves pain in the scrolling finger. Reduces reaction time by more than 10 times. Reduces confusion by 100 times. Saves time.
  • (2020-12-07) Polydoros Frantzeskakis: Finally after 20 yrs of gmail..... Thank you
  • (2020-12-04) Adam Watson: Oh Yes!! Just been migrating from Office 365 to Gmail and most things are better but this was winding me up as the O365 approach of latest email first just seems so much more obvious. This seems to clean up the interface too which I love. A small but significant improvement to my life :D
  • (2020-12-03) Vince The Vet: Fabulous! Should be a default setting in GMail.
  • (2020-11-30) Jan Veirum: I used to love this feature. Until you changed it last week. Normally when you forward an email you jump directly to the possibility of punching in an email address, now that is not possible. When you click on forward it jumps to the mail. Then you have to use the mouse to click in the address field. Please change it!! Thanks
  • (2020-11-05) Does what it says painlessly. Thanks :-)

Gran trabajo.

  • (2020-09-18) kppphd: Stunning. Thank you so much!
  • (2020-09-17) Sridhar Jayaraman: Great. it just works like magic. google should include this logic as part of gmail permanently rather than a chrome add on.
  • (2020-08-31) Brick Wall: I wish I had found this extension Back in 2004 when Gmail started!!! (Yes I have had an account that long, back when you had to know someone to get an invite. Thus no numbers behind my name ;) ) I cannot explain how THANKFUL that this exists and that I found it! Absolutely OUTSTANDING sir!!!
  • (2020-08-14) Carlos Fidel Tatis Marin: Ahorra tiempo !
  • (2020-08-11) Rino A: Very helpful!
  • (2020-08-09) Lee Fabricius: I can't believe that this is not a standard format for Gmail. I was about to switch back to Outlook until I read how to fix the problem and it worked perfectly. It takes a few seconds to download, turn off and on conversation mode and it worked perfectly. THANK YOU!
  • (2020-07-30) James Lake: It works why isn't this the default mode for gmail we will never know
  • (2020-07-28) Hanshen Jordan: works perfectly so far.
  • (2020-07-24) Pavel Zhivov: The extension is valuable but every time I launch Chrome (84.0.4147.89) it looks as if the extension is not working. I go to chrome://extensions/ disable and enable the extension back in order to see the effect. Without that re-enabling Gmail looks as if there is no extension enabled.

  • (2020-06-30) Mitch Holmes: Makes Gmail through a browser actually usable - it's madness that this isn't already a feature
  • (2020-06-26) Rora m: Magic! A must have! Why doesn't Google provide this option by default?
  • (2020-04-06) Christian Schmetz: Super extension ! Do the job !

I love the Gmail reverse conversation extension, but my company will no longer let me use it because there is concern that it comes from a single developer. Would you be willing to add a link to the company/organization that publishes this (with location info) and add a privacy policy to your extension page? This is what out IT team is looking for to potentially approve company use of the extension. Thank you very much!

As a follow up - I think I may have found something. I use the vertical split and reverse doesn't seem to work when I view email there. However, if I pop out the email in a new window it works. Not ideal, but at least it works that way.
  • (2020-03-29, v:0.0.7) Eric Rosenzweig: Not working

  • (2020-01-24, v:0.0.7) Kerstin Bonicard: Add on not working
Hello, I have done all the steps I keep reading about. Downloaded 0.0.7 Version. I have refreshed page, turned conversation view off then back on, and logged out and back in. When I click into the conversation, the conversation shows corrected with the most recent on the top for the first 3 seconds then it automatically switches back to the old view (does the same thing with the reply button on top as I added that add on as well). My url is below. Is it an issue since it is a company owned url? https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?zx=pyodfrqe69a2#inbox
  • (2019-11-18, v:0.0.7) Russell Graville: Extension enabled, page refreshed, even system rebooted, still not reversing thread
Conversations are not being reversed. I see conversations exactly the same with the extension removed, installed and enabled, and installed and disabled. Using Chrome Version 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit). Using Gmail reverse conversation version 0.0.7 Gmail account is accessed at https://mail.google.com/* It is working for others in my organization. Please advise as to what could be interfering with functionality. I am willing to help troubleshoot and provide logs.

My business uses gmail, but the website is: https://mail.google.com.us.cas.ms I can't seem to be able to add websites to the extension to grant permission to that site, it's locked to mail.google.com only. Any thoughts?
  • (2019-10-21, v:0.0.7) Richard Brindley: Does this extension need an update?
Excited extension, but I installed app, refreshed page, and it didn't work. Also disabled other extensions and put gmail on the native view (no preview pane or split view): still didn't work. Did the latest Chrome update break your extension? Are you planning to update?

  • (2019-09-18, v:0.0.7) Kevin Tuuri: Add Enabled/Disabled Option
It would be extremely helpful if you would add an enabled/disabled toggle so that the extension can be deployed at a large scale without forcing it to be enabled. I'm happy to contribute and help add the functionality if you're interested.
  • (2019-08-06, v:0.0.7) LaDonna Crawford: No delete button?
Why is there a reply, reply all and forward option - but no delete. Also, I'm finding I have to individually delete each email in the string. Am I doing something wrong?
  • (2019-07-12, v:0.0.7) James E Burns: Allow first message to be hidden on click
    If you receive multiple unread messages from the same thread, you can only toggle/hide the messages after the first one (last in reverse order), making you have to scroll past the the first (reversed) message to read the previously sent ones. If you make it so you can toggle the first (reversed) message in the thread, you can toggle all the messages if needed. This is necessary when the last message received is long and tiresome to scroll past. I inject a script to add the missing event listener on hash change: lastEmailMessage = document.querySelector('div.h7.ie.nH.oy8Mbf'); lastEmailMessage.addEventListener("click",function(e){ if ( this.querySelector('div.aHl').parentElement.style.display=="" ){ this.querySelector('div.aHl').parentElement.style = "display:none;" }else{ this.querySelector('div.aHl').parentElement.style = "" } },false);
  • (2019-07-12, v:0.0.7) James E Burns: Suggestion: Allow reversal in read conversations only and toggle button
Thank you for the extension! I would like to ask if an options page can be created so that end-users can have some customized features with this extension. For example, in cases where I haven't read any email messages in an email thread, I would like to read them in chronological order or normal order. For cases where I have already read messages in a thread, I would like to see the newer messages first (reverse order). Also, if a "toggle" button could be added to the Gmail page to show the current email thread in reverse or normal order, I think that may be helpful.
