  • (2023-08-07) Hannah Burke: I seem to really be stuggling to get it to work on hulu. Am I doing something wrong? I have it turned on and the show ready to go but nothing changes.
  • (2023-03-24) Greg Reno: Works ok. It does block words, it does miss words too. In some cases it blocks out whole sentences. Someone mentioned changing the seconds to 0 but I do not see that option. Also, if you set it to hide captions it does not work. As someone else mention captions must be shown. I am looking for a replacement for VidAngel. Maybe it is just a thing with the latest version of Chrome. Version 111.0.5563.65 (Official Build) (64-bit) It is great work. I would love for it to be better. It might make a great alternative.
  • (2023-03-01) Aiden: Does anyone know if there's a way I can manage which words I want filtered out?
  • (2023-02-11) Anja Langenhoven: Best there is
  • (2022-11-20) K G: This is the best, most flexible and easy-to-implement profanity filter we've ever used. Our family uses this extension with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Freevee and more several times a week. We have a laptop hooked up the HDMI on our TV. Now we can stream so much more than we could before. Just an excellent Add On!
  • (2022-10-23) Alyssa Guerrero: It was working great on hulu but today we tried to use Apple Tv with this extension and it did not work. it did not remove the words or mute? any suggestions?
  • (2022-09-12) MrJacquers: It was working but doesn't seem reliable. Sometimes it only censors the subtitles and not the audio on Netflix.
  • (2022-05-10) Erik Malkavian: WORKING GREAT. You have to have the Closed Caption displaying but the option to add your own specialized words is fantastic. Also on Youtube Google filters some words and you have to add two underlines in this for those words to be filtered like this __ and then save and those words will filtered. Thank you Author!
  • (2022-04-29) Jasmina Clarke: Amazing app. We have tried so many profanity filters in the past and finally found this gem! It really works. Doesn't crash. Love it. Had a minor technical issue and the developer contacted me back so quickly. Highly recommend.
  • (2021-10-16) Lael Lawless-Goodrich: Great extension but only one problem. The new update of Chrome does not work with it. Have Chrome 92.0 on my Mac and 94.0 on a PC. The extension is not working on 94.0. Still a great product but wanted to give heads up.
  • (2021-10-15) Philip Scott: Works great on Disney+. I was having issues finding an filter extension that worked liked I wanted there. The feature to hide all subtitles and only show them when a word is being filtered is an amazing feature, since I CAN'T STAND watching movies with subtitles on. Love it, and thanks!
  • (2021-08-22) James Kirkland: has been working well for months. now its not working on netflix. works on amazon prime. tested multiple pcs and same issue on 3 different machines.
  • (2021-07-14) Brett Saunders: This product is absolutely brilliant, and the creator, Adam, even took the time to fix an oddity that appeared on my system. Incredible service, and the best extension. A+++. Thank you so much Adam :).
  • (2021-06-21) AAA LLL: Putting 3 stars because the idea behind this is amazing but it doesn't seem to work for me at all. Chrome + Amazon Prime video. I have it enabled and configured but it doesn't seem to block anything at all.
  • (2021-06-10) Jeff Allen: Works really well. My only suggestion for improvement is that even when the "mute for x seconds after" is set to zero, it seems to mute a little too long and you sometimes miss context in the scene it the entire sentence is muted. But overall it works great.
  • (2021-05-25) Rachel Bybee: This app seems to work really well for me on YouTube and Amazon Prime! To test that it was working without exposing myself to profanity, I added a regular, innocuous word to the list of filters (e.g. "unicorn") and then watched a show that used the tame word repeatedly. It worked very well on videos with set captions and not just auto-generated captions.
  • (2021-04-11) Amy Demarest: Love this extension! It works great on my computer and phone. Now I'm trying to figure out how to use it with my Smart TV. Any suggestions?
  • (2021-01-27) Donivan: I just downloaded this to use on netflix. but i started a movie and they would say the swear word and then there would be a line after the word. So it didn't take it out. On some words there are * and it covers the word up. But then on the words I really don't want to see, it doesn't work. How do i fix this? Thanks! Claire
  • (2021-01-02) Chance Peterson: Tried watching a movie on Amazon Prime but it wasn't working. I see that you respond promptly to people in an attempt to help by asking them to email you. I'd be happy to do that as well but I don't have your email address...
  • (2020-12-12) OrderlyHippo: Extension = AWESOME, sort of. It works fine on Youtube, but for some reason, it removes the spaces between each word in the subtitles; makes CC more difficult to read. It does NOT mute the words on Netflix or Amazon Prime, but does bleep out the bad subtitles. Maybe I'm doing something wrong... Not sure why this is happening, but I'd love it if it did, so I can use just this one extension and refer my friends to this for all their bleeping needs. All in all, a real effort is shown by the developer. Great work. Hope these problems get ironed out.
  • (2020-11-20) Daniel Tammeling: I really love this extension, it allows me to watch videos I otherwise wouldn't watch. I've found that on youtube videos the audio isn't unmuted for 5 or so seconds after the swear word, and it's muted a fraction of a second too late. Adding an option to mute for a few milliseconds before the specific word would fix the latter problem.
  • (2020-08-24) Charlotte Preston: So useful!! Is there any way to have it work when chrome casting?
  • (2020-08-13) Aaron Gonzalez: works great on everything so far except apple tv. can this be fixed?
  • (2020-07-08) Jonathan Medley: Fantastic filtering service. Your family needs this!
  • (2020-06-25) David Um: The BEST inappropriate language extension I've found!! I stopped watching TV as they started cursing at any time gratuitously, just to make sure you can't anticipate it. I tried various programs and services with limited success. This free, simple, and easy-to-use extension is by far the best, for the two services I use: Amazon and Hulu. Sure, there could be some improvements. As reviewers mentioned, it doesn't always work right away, especially when I install it on a new computer, but seems to kick in after a few attempts. Having a word-matching wildcard like an asterisk would be great and simplify the number of words in the block list, plus it helps when subtitles are accidentally conflated so curse words are appended to the word before or after, allowing it to bypass the filter. I'd love to have it mute just the word itself with a toggle that lets you set a plus/minus amount of milliseconds from where it calculates the actual curse word will be spoken (hope that makes sense...in other words, a way to refine the muting so it doesn't mute the entire portion of subtitles). Regardless, right now, I can't find a better alternative, and I'm just amazed how much foul language has been washing over me to the point I've been numbed - even Marvel superhero movies have much more than I remember (of course I'm partially nostalgic about old-school comic books). Thank you, Mr. Adam Swallows, for this extension - you're making the world a cleaner place!
  • (2020-06-22) David Johnson: Excellent tool - I have this running continuously on my 10 year old son's computer for his YouTube for the past year and he's just finished watching a netflix movie with it - such a relief to know he won't be hearing any blasphemy which especially makes me angry in PG and PG-13 movies.
  • (2020-03-29) Chad Silveus: This is the best product of its kind. It works!!!! The creator is a good guy who will help if needed. I cannot recommend this enough. No more hearing the Lord's name in vain! My family and I are so happy we can watch moral programming with the help of Stream Clean!
  • (2020-02-26) ski py: I would like to thank Adam for creating this tool. It works quite well and catches the profanity - which is very prevalent in most movies today. It will mute more then the swear word - like the sentence which the word is included so you may miss a few words when it is active. BUT this is a small inconvenience considering what a great job it does. We can now finish a movie without hearing the garbage which so often is used. I also like the fact that I can add or delete certain words you want muted - depending on what your preference is. The subtitles setting allows you to set it so you don't have them playing on the screen as watch your show. Thanks again Adam - WELL DONE!!!
  • (2019-12-29) Ken B: So far, so good. Initially it was not filtering, but I sent an email to the creator instead of first giving a poor rating. He was able to respond and provide instructions to get it going in less than 30 minutes. Customer service is great!
  • (2019-11-17) Rocco du Plessis: Fantastic little extension! Really impressed and grateful for the Dev's efforts! Super smart "Show captions when muted" option too. Would be perfect with one addition: Most streaming services force subtitles when someone speaks in a foreign language momentarily (even when subtitles are off) so you can follow what is being said (I.e. in an English film, if someone speaks Spanish for a moment, subtitles are normally present even when they're turned off). Unfortunately, forced subtitles are also hidden with the 'hide subtitles' option, so you no longer see those. It may not be possible to allow forced subtitles through, but would be amazing if it could be done. If not, a keyboard shortcut to temporarily disable the 'hide subtitles' option may be a good workaround as you can then skip back and see what is being said. Keep up the great work!
  • (2019-11-13) Katie Malgren: This extension has been amazing to use!! Would it be possible to add filtering for Disney Plus?
  • (2019-09-09) Kailah McAlister: It worked at first and now it doesnt anymore, its not working on hulu or netflix.
  • (2019-06-26) John Orth: This extension is fantastic. I have it constantly enabled and use it across Netflix, Stan and Prime. I also like the feature allowing you to hide the subtitles. Well done Adam!
  • (2019-05-08) Anonymous Person: Works well. Thankful.
  • (2019-04-19) Josh Cougle: First... this extension is awesome. It works consistently and has made watching Netflix something I can do without constantly wincing. Thank you so much for your great work on it! This isn't a complaint more than it is a question/hope... is there anyway, that you can make this work like the old TV Guardian did... where it hides the captions until a filtered word is found... then mutes the sound and displays the captions with the asterisks? Either way... I'm a fan... but this would make it perfect. Thanks again for this extension... it's really helped me a lot!
  • (2019-02-21) Playdot Apparel 2: Works great, good job...donation coming your way!!
  • (2019-01-21) I like the extension in itself. It's very useful... most of the time. Now it will work for one or two episodes before it stops working all together and I have to uninstall and re download it. It can be really annoying.
  • (2019-01-03) Al Pal: Its good, but it has flaws. First of all, i wish that there was a way to turn off Whole Word Matching. For example, if i add the word "stream" to the list, then streamclean will only mute when the word "stream" is alone. But if the word "streamclean" is in the subtitles, then it wont get muted. I dont like this and would have wished that there was an option to turn off the whole word match. Another problem is that it sometimes may mute a little late, this has been happening so far in Tubi and Amazon. Also, if the subtitle doesnt align well with the audio, then stream clean will mute at the wrong place. So hope that theres improvement to this app.
  • (2018-12-26) tim v: i really love this app for Netflix, it works better than any I've tried in the past, I would really love to be able to use it for Cravetv in Canada. it says it has access to the site, but doesn't seem to catch any of the swears, could you help me with this? Where can I send my email to communicate with you? Thank you for the app and your time. .
  • (2018-11-30) Robin Michelle: I had to keep reloading the filter but it works great. This is the only problem I had keeping it stay on my chrome web page.
  • (2018-11-07) LocatedLeech 1207: Everything works great I really appreciate the fact that someone actually was able to do it. :)
  • (2018-10-31) Greg Widener: This is an excellent Chrome extension! Life changing good stuff. Thanks to you, kind developer, I am able to watch some shows and movies that I otherwise wouldn't without your sanitizing extension. I've tested it on Amazon, Hulu and YouTube and it works well everywhere. Donation coming your way! Please keep this updated so it continues to work. I really appreciate your work!
  • (2018-09-17) Brooke Benefield: I really want to like this! but it isn't working for me on Amazon Prime.
  • (2018-08-20) Micah: I added this to my Chrome, started watching a series in Amazon Prime, had the extension on, had CC on the stream, but literally had zero effect. Even double checked the profane words and spellings to make sure they match those used in the series. Please let me know whether I am missing something, would love to find an extension that works.
  • (2018-08-18) Tony Robinson: There is one improvement that I suggested and the author already did one tweak to make a change in that direction (I may be asking for something that no software is able to do: not only take out an offending word, but the phrase or sentence that it is found in, so that brains do not fill in the blank). However, this program does exactly what the programmer claims. Unless you want to spend the time downloading video and text files to edit them manually to replace them with acceptable phrases, a time consuming task that I have done, this is a quick fix to easily watch videos that you would normally pass by. I use this software to erase subtitles of Korean/Japanese/Chinese videos where many of their translators act as though all English speakers use or accept profanity.
  • (2018-07-18) MrWhitetailtracker: Works pretty good but you must add all the words you want blocked. Im thankful for something like this!
  • (2018-06-19) This filter not only blocks the offending words but it also blocks the audio. It wasn't working on two sites I use, so I contacted the author and he added it immediately (within 24 hours!) He is awesome!
  • (2018-06-19) E Gogga: EXCELLENT. I was going to cancel my Netflix as I am sick of constantly hear Jesus Christ in each episode,
  • (2018-03-07) Katie Bennett: I am grateful for this extension! Would you consider adding filtering for Hallmark Movies Now (hmnow.com)?
