It was a pretty handy addon before all of the deceptive pop-ups advertising straight up garbage, designed to trick less savvy people into bloating their browser with nonsense. As others have already said there are plenty of other addons available that cover the same features and DON'T spam you with popups. Avoid.

Used to be a top notch addon, until the author added all these stupid popups, about needing to update Chrome (even when your not running Chrome, such as when your running Brave, or another Chromium based browser), and revoking access for untrusted apps, etc... Seems like more and more MA has become a Google shill, instead of a useful addon... Am removing it as it is now an untrusted app in my book, and switching to another tool such as Enhancer...
• (2025-06-14) Jubal Slone: Magic Actions is an otherwise great extension ruined by incredibly suspicious popups with malicious-looking content. It does do all that it claims to do, but it brings a real risk with it that could draw in innocent users. The incredibly high ranking is very suspicious with such weird ads.

• (2025-06-01) Lostsprite: An extention I had been using for years but the "Scan and Update" pop-up became WAY too much. (To preface I am using Opera GX which is Chromium based in which I have had NO other extentions have issues like this, like at all.) Instead I recommend the Enhancer for YouTube because it has a lot of the same features without that annoying pop-up. - Themes - Volume scroll wheel - Resolution options at desired quality I also think Enhancer for YouTube from what I have tried seems to load YouTube faster than what Magic Actions can, at least it seems faster to me. (Especially live streams) I really hate the enshitification of products over the years and this one is one such case from my experience, and what it seems for many other reviewers lately of this extention.

Many thanks for creating this terrific extension and sharing it with us! Works extremely well on slow connections(wifi). I can now watch a YouTube movie mostly without any lagging or buffering (Rocket mode) and the "SKIP" button is perfect. GET IT NOW!!
• (2025-05-20) Florin Bohotineanu: The extension itself is very nice but the Pop up ads are ANNOYING. They are useless and it's impossible to disable them. The developers of this application made it intentionally to not allow the disabling of pop up windows. I recommend to use instead the extension: Enhancer for YouTube™ It has the same capabilities and without intrusive pop up windows.
• (2025-05-15) Nikola Miljkovic: After many years of using this cool extensions, it became too annoying recently by randomly opening new chrome windows, forcing me to update Chrome while it's updated. I mean this extension should not worry about my chrome version, let alone allow it to open new windows and interrupt me while using the browser. So one big fat 1 from me for becoming annoying extension.

The enhancement of the lighting is worth it alone, but add all the other features in and you have one cool extension for Chrome. The day/night switch. Brilliant. Cinema mode? Why not. Screen captures...sure thing. I'm telling you that once you try it you won't want to view without it.

However, the extension constantly makes annoying popup windows begging the user to check out new features of the extension, show ads, or update their browser. This is highly disruptive and abusive and is unacceptable. Uninstalled. I discovered and installed Enhancer For Youtube instead, which has all the same features and more, without being a spammy piece of malware.

• (2025-03-30) Love Love: This computer user has employed Magic Actions for YouTube extension for better than two years and, if memory properly serves, this is my first rating of the software. Magic Actions is superb, especially in the "We-Don't-Rest-On-Our-Laurels" department for the software team appears to constantly be working on "the next best thing." One is tempted to think that should Magic Actions ever find that "end-all, be-all" product they might actually start charging money for it. With respect to YouTube-associated products and as it currently stands, Magic Actions is, simply, the best YouTube-extension software I've yet used.
• (2025-03-29) AG Moyer: Very shady extension with the pop ups and then the tools are just links to other sites. On top of this the options page has ads. I pay for YouTube prime but there is no away I'll turn of adblocking for this tool, just too sketchy to be trusted.
• (2025-03-26) cpane12: WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU HATE POP-UPS!!! Used to be an amazing extension. Now is an absolute pop-up nightmare! After you close a few tabs it pops up and says you need to update chrome. Different size windows, new tabs, and even completely new windows for no reason. Not to mention the pop-ups look like scam messages from a virus. Would be actually useful if they gave you an option to have the update checker on or off. Been dealing with it for so long but now am giving up. I am removing the extension as I cannot handle the pop-ups any longer.

• (2025-03-24) as of March 24 2025, they started forcing ads on youtube. I pay youtube premium to not watch ads and now the Magic Actions for YouTube is forcing ads on your videos that you watch... and not only that but it is doing it every 2 minutes of watching the video. That's a lot of ads. I have had this since 2014 and sadly, must remove it.

• (2025-02-26) Ryan Dauntless: This used to be a very good extension that I used constantly and was seriously considering donating some money towards as I had some spare funds instead of living paycheck to paycheck for a change... Then the stupid constant popups, and new tabs regarding a browser update that doesn't exist started... So instead I am looking for a new Youtube extension and disabling Magic Actions in all browsers I use (Brave, Firefox, Opera GX)... As soon as I find a suitable replacement for the features I use, I will be flat out uninstalling Magic Actions and not looking back, until then I will only be enabling it when I need it... The developer has lost my trust in regards to the extension...
