PDF Viewer
Uses HTML5 to display PDF files directly in the browser.
PDF.js is a Portable Document Format (PDF) viewer that is built with HTML5.
PDF.js is community-driven and supported by Mozilla. Our goal is to create a general-purpose, web standards-based platform for parsing and rendering PDFs.
This extension offers PDF.js as the default PDF viewer in Chrome. This is the official Chrome extension of the PDF.js project. Be careful of unrelated copycats.
If you want to use this viewer to view local files, visit chrome://extensions/?id=oemmndcbldboiebfnladdacbdfmadadm and put a check before "Allow access to file URLs".

Love the function that it saves reading progress. Great tool to read some short pdf notes/essays temporarily.
There‘s no ’open‘ button as github example version?
Very good simple PDF viewer, especially since it saves what page you were on since after you close and reopen the tab. However, the UI could be updated.
Very good viewer/filler! This supports XFA as well which is a big deal with ancient govt forms. Much appreciated. Would be helpful to add a form saver/autosaver as well when an XFA form is detected to save the form, in event of a crash. Also a save button, instead of just ctrl-S
Perfect tool and easy to use. It is lightweight and meets all my requirements
good interface and user-friendly. highly recommended
Works fine, but would really love a translation option
Loved it. It works as expected. PDFs are now no longer required to be downloaded to view them
I love it, it would be even better if they included a "Save as" button, in addition the existing "save" one
After closing and reopening Chrome and reopening last session (ctrl+shift+T), the PDF tabs are gone and become "new tabs".
been struggling with Arabic text pdf for months while it works perfectly in Firefox. this solves my problem and hassle cuz it use Firefox approach
You can have the Firefox PDF reader in Chrome with this extension.
I always had the issue that there are some pdfs that chrome forces to download even when the privacy settings have been set to open instead of download. This takes care of them just fine. Great job.
Good PDF viewer, great ownCloud integration
The only usable, and great PDF alternative for default Chrome built in PDF viewer! Faster, Lighter, and Smoother!!! If the extension can download the pdf automatically and open pdf at the same time, just like what Firefox do, that's would be even better!
best lightweight pdf viewer and annotator available
It's a better PDF reader than the built-in one, but it changes the URL in the address bar, making it fiddly to cut-and-paste. I am removing it for now because I cut-and-paste the URL a lot for citations.
very smooth
Does what's advertised, never had any problems. Sometimes, it takes a while for pages to load just after opening Chrome, but I think it's coz my PC's really slow, not really the fault of the extension.
A perfect pdf viewer. now actually i can use read pdf online
The new update broke it.
The new update broke it.
This extension has always worked pretty good for me, yesterday it did break but I feel bad since it got hate-bombed so I'll give it a 5 now
It stopped working in Opera, any chance of releasing it for use in that browser?

works perfect, best extension ever
Can the authors add a feature that can turn off prompting before downloading pdf files?
As of today it is forcing me to download the file first instead of simply opening the pdf in a new tab.
Not working now... please update this very usefull extention :)
It is not working since 09.09.2024.
Worked well until recently. Instead of opening pdf links in a tab, now I often get prompted to download, which is the main thing I want to avoid - cluttered downloads.
This is the PDF extension you want to install. It 'just works'. It gives me exactly what I want. Full page view, same shortcuts as Acrobat. I made the big mistake of installing the Adobe Acrobat extension. All I wanted was a PDF viewer that behaved like Acrobat, meaning that I could get a full page view and use Acrobat shortcuts to navigate. But no, I got a tiny multipage view with no shortcuts. Typical complete Adobe fail. I uninstalled it immediately and installed this extension instead.
No dark mode. Blocks 'Dark Reader' with 'This page is protected by browser'
made my laptop useable again
Works great! The default PDF viewer in Chrome is complete garbage. This extension brings the Firefox PDF viewer to Chrome. I only wish it would not change the favicon of the tabs - distinguishing between multiple PDFs is now a tiny bit more difficult.
I can't get it to work on files I've downloaded, or on anything else. It sux.
This is amazing!
Just installed it and it works great.
I downloaded it, it worked perfectly and suddenly stopped days after.
I started using this because I saw that this PDF Viewer remembers where you left off when reading a PDF. It works great, and can be easily set as the default PDF Viewer on a Chromebook. Highly recommend!
I downloaded this on my 2022 macBook, because the standard viewer that comes with chrome would not download files. I can't figure out how to get chrome to use it when there is a pdf to be viewed. When selecting the extension, it brings up the viewer with a sample PDF which can be downloaded, but how to use it to open up URL's??
I guess this is the best pdf viewer for scientific reasercher, because it supports 'commond+[ '。
Works great - has great UI that makes it easy to get started and explore what it can do.
i works good but it does not change pdf logo in file location as it change in edge browser which is convenient to identify the document where in chrome it just show chrome logo in pdf files, bad to use
Just installed, seems to work pretty good so far. It's rendering documents much faster than Adobe.
Best pdf viewer in Chrome web store.
Half of the text on the pdf is in weird characters, needs some work. happens from multiple sources
Great tool! Everything I need, including that extension remembers the last page I were reading before closing the document...
Great Tool to use!
Very Very useful extension! The default built in PDF viewer sucks! This extension even better than the built one! more smooth, more efficient! It allows Chrome to opens PDF urls automatically.
