Instantly Enhance Your Texts with LanguageTool’s Grammar Checker and Paraphrasing Tool
★ Finds many errors that a simple spell checker cannot detect
★ No registration needed
★ Supports more than 25 languages (see below)
★ Works on almost any website including Gmail, Facebook, Twitter
This extension ensures that your writing is error-free. LanguageTool detects many errors that a simple spell checker cannot, such as grammar issues, commonly confused words, and punctuation oversights. Additionally, LanguageTool offers style suggestions to elevate your writing: synonym replacements for overused words, concise rephrasing of wordy sentences, and formal alternatives to commonly used expressions.
LanguageTool is designed with simplicity in mind, instantly analyzing your text as you type. It is compatible with most platforms, including social networks such as Twitter and LinkedIn, and e-mail services such as Gmail.
With LanguageTool, our aim is to give users a full-feature grammar checker and proofreader that will enable them to have control and confidence over their content. While LanguageTool is a vital extension for non-native speakers, it also recognizes many mistakes that are frequently made by native speakers. This grammar and spelling correction works across several varieties of commonly spoken languages, and is capable of distinguishing between American and British English. LanguageTool also features a personal dictionary for exceptions or words that you might commonly use, but are not found in a conventional dictionary; it will learn to recognize these words for future grammar checking and proofreading.
Unlike other services like Grammarly (a.k.a. Grammerly :-), QuillBot, and Ginger, LanguageTool supports more than 25 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Polish, and Russian (see below for the complete list).
Your privacy is important to us: By default, this extension will check your text by sending it to https://languagetool.org over a securely encrypted connection. No account is needed to use this extension. We don't store your IP address. See https://languagetool.org/privacy/ for our privacy policy.
List of supported languages: English (Australian, Canadian, GB, New Zealand, South African, US), French, German (Austria, Germany, Swiss), Asturian, Belarusian, Breton, Catalan (also Valencian), Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Esperanto, Galician, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Khmer, Persian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique), Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Ukrainian, Arabic

- It was a decent free extension, but it now requires a premium membership to even use the thing. Was a 5 stars in my heart beforehand.

- It's only a paid extension. Why is it still in the web store? I installed QuillBot, but there is no Polish language :/

- Good until the greed hit them. Sad you guys ruined this.
- Michael Greub
- Requires an account when it used to be free and also start to be less reliable since a few months. Had it for years. Now it goes staight to the bin.
- Abigail Fisher
- Sad to see that greed got the better of them. It is now useless without a subscription. I was originally planning to purchase a subscription before they put everything behind a paywall, but do not want to support such morally bankrupt behavior, so I decided to uninstall. Disappointed to see it go as it did have some useful features!
- Martin Meixger
- After a while, the extension and the entire page become painfully slow. In the browser's developer tools, you can see that the extension's CPU usage increases significantly. This happens with a paid subscription in both Chrome and Firefox on various computers. The only solution is to delete the entire browser profile and create a new one.
- Rudy Mas
- Works perfectly, and for many languages. When you need to write in different languages all the time, it's easy to make a mistake. With this extension, most errors are noticed and corrected.
- Henry Heberle
- Perfect
- JadGer
- Was absolutely great before they put it behind a pay wall, very disappointing
- Roman Kuprii
- Mandatory premium paid subscription now - they cancelled the free use, so i deleted the tool.

- I used this until, they made it "bait & switch" wanting $$$. Consumer advocates should ponce on this, they don't say a WORD about charging $$ after 14 days or whatever...? Not until you put it on the computer... Should be illegal, I thought they stopped this practice but no...

- Suha watershed, a critical headwater system within Ethiopia’s Upper Blue Nile Basin, is experiencing profound environmental degradation characterized by rapid deforestation and altered hydrological regimes. This study employs a 30-year longitudinal analysis (1990–2020) to quantify spatiotemporal land use and land cover (LULC) dynamics and evaluate their environmental implications. Utilizing a multi-temporal suite of Landsat imagery (TM, ETM+, and OLI/TIRS), LULC maps was generated for decadal intervals through Maximum Likelihood supervised classification in ArcGIS 10.4. The classification achieved robust overall accuracies ranging from 87.29% to 92.80%.The findings reveal a radical landscape transformation: cultivated land expanded aggressively from 24.63% in 1990 to 69.20% in 2020, representing a 44.57% increase. Concurrently, settlement areas grew by 8.62%. This expansion occurred primarily at the expense of natural cover; forestland plummeted from 11.89% to a critical 0.63%, while shrub land and water/marshy areas decreased by 23.51% and 10.52%, respectively. These anthropogenic shifts, driven largely by relentless population pressure, have fundamentally destabilized the watershed’s water balance and increased annual surface runoff. The evidence highlights a critical urgency for integrated watershed management and sustainable land-use policies to mitigate the ongoing loss of ecosystem services and hydrological instability within the Upper Blue Nile Basin. - I am eager to offer a unique viewpoint as an individual who has extensive experience in software engineering and information technology and who comprehends the actual process of developing and maintaining a product at a large scale. LanguageTool is no longer completely free, which has been criticized in many recent reviews. I know how you feel; we all like free tools. However, it's crucial to have a realistic understanding of how contemporary software functions. LanguageTool goes beyond being a straightforward browser add-on. It is an advanced language processing platform that includes: • Grammar and style checking powered by artificial intelligence • Support for multiple languages • An internet platform that possesses a plethora of unique capabilities that are not found in other language tools • LanguageTool has a desktop app for Windows, Linux, and Mac that lets you connect its features to popular programs like Slack, Teams, WhatsApp, Word, Outlook, etc. • Constant upgrades, upkeep of the infrastructure, and client assistance It is impossible to maintain this solely based on goodwill. It needs engineers, infrastructure, cloud resources, security checks, time for development, and ongoing funding. Likewise, it is simply unrealistic to expect a sophisticated, actively developed product that is used by millions of people to stay completely free forever. Companies require business models that can last. One of the most open and equitable methods of financing long-term development is through subscriptions. For 95 PLN (~$27), I acquired a one-year Premium subscription during a Black Friday sale and have been exceedingly pleased with the value. In contrast to comparable instruments that are available, the cost is reasonable. Giving a company a one-star review just because they launched a paid tier is a reflection of disapproval of their business model rather than the quality of their product. If the premium version is not suitable for you, that is entirely acceptable. That doesn't mean the product is bad, though. Support for long-term software needs long-term funding.

- It started charging, so I switched to TinaMind.
- Terri Paxton
- Yeah I got it to replace Grammarly which was pushing for a sub. Now this wants me to pay for it. It's being uninstalled right now.
- Jose RG
- Useless now that a paid subscription is required. Could pay but not the amount they are asking for.
- Jeff
- Useless now that a paid subscription is required to use the extension. Basically the extension does nothing unless you pay.
- Ellie Daniels
- Suddenly completely paywalled. Removing.
- Atlas

- André Braga
- Premium only now... The price isn't worth it... What a joke...
- The Lions Studio
- It was good until its opening new tab every day and asked for an upgrade, now it seems it will not have a free version anymore, just 14 days free trial. SO WHY I SHOULD NOT USE GRAMMARLY!!!

- New user. So far has been exactly what we need.
- Rafael
- Used to be good, now is just another AI slop.
- Vlad Ostrykovskyy
- Now fully paid for AI junk no one wanted.
- NmFlash8
- was great while it lasted
- Elliot Hunter
- Excellent extension prior to be putting entirely behind a paywall. Unless you are willing to get the premium subscription, this extension no longer is functional. Very disappointing, but was happy for it while it lasted. RIP.
- Ian Brown
- Fantastic plugin, super helpful.
- Tyler Duncan
- I've been using Premium for a few weeks now, and I personally really enjoy it. It's a lifesaver, and I absolutely love it. I would highly recommend Premium.
- Eric Ketzer
- Well, I have the free premium for now. Thing is it is pretty bad. I intentionaly make obvious mistakes and the extension won't even recognize them. And it will point me some mistakes, when they're aren't any. Something is broken with their AI. So not only they are asking to pay soon to be able to use that extension, but that extension isn't even worth using it anymore, even for free.
- Connor Linville
- Loved it until they removed everything from free users.
- Tucker Gratton
- Devs got greedy and went premium only.
- Alexander H.
- Auto-recognises the language you type in, so ideal for polyglots. I use it to improve/correct my German while using Signal. I happily pay for my annual subscription, so LanguageTooler can improve the product even more. Let's support European tech!
- Erin O'Neill
- was awesome until they changed it and now you have to pay to use it.
- Maksym Medvediev
- It's okay-ish for a free extention, but it's not NEARLY good enough to pay for. It manages basic spelling, but misses more complex grammar half the time - I still had to check my text every time before submitting. The audacity to demand payment for uncomplete product is something else. Strongly not recommend.
- TheA2ace
- This service should be part of Chrome OS and not a pay for service...
- Mine Border
- Can't do anything without a premium subscription. They gave you a free trial which it wasn't really explained. The trial doesn't give you full access to all of the features so what is even the point of giving me a free trial.
- Preeti Berwal
- It was so good, but now.....WE HAVE TO PAY TO USE IT!!!!!
- Barry-Lee Pace
- After years of using "other brands of Ai-writing assitants I had to relinquish my subscription due to cost. When I saw this model having to stay competitive I opened my wallet. I wanted to support them because of the excellence of their software product.

- GREEDY CORPORATION. I ASK THEM TO REVERSE THEIR GREEDINESS AND BLOCK ME FROM THEIR EMAIL. CORPORATE LOGIC, I GUESS
