This was the only tab positioning extension that worked, but Google's move to requiring V3 manifests broke it. Unbelievable that the functionality this extension provides isn't apart of the default browser.

CHROME STOPPED SUPPORTING THIS FOR SOME REASON

This shouldn't be an extension, this should be default Chrome options...

there's a bug with these two "tab position options" extensions, they will slow down chrome greatly, the slowing effect grows with tab count

Please update the extension. It stopped working. It is very inconvenient to work without it.

F off, google. What I use on MY computer does not need to follow YOUR best practice or terms of service. If anything, it's YOU that needs to earn your position, and you're losing it.

Broken now. It'll no longer save the options. Everything gets set to and stuck on "Default".

Finally I found the extension to make Chromium desktop and Kiwi mobile browsers to act right! When I cose a tab it goes back to the last tab I was on. Hallelujah! I will back up this extension .crx file (use “CRX Extractor/Downloader“ extension, download as .zip, and rename to .crx in file browser), and my Kiwi app apk file and stay on old Chrome forever if they make this extension obsolete. In the extension's options I occasionally have to toggle “Activated Tab After Last Tab Closing“ to another option, and then back to “In Activated Order“, to get it to reactivate again. Some function seems to override it periodically. l blame Chrome. I also love being able to force Kiwi to open extension-option-tabs next to the current tab (another Chrome setting that should be default!). Under “New Tab“, click “Add“ and set each of these addresses, WITHOUT quotes, as “Right of current Tab“ & “Forground“: For Kiwi: “kiwi-extension://*“ or For Chrome: “chrome-extension://*“ If you want all other new tabs to open this way Add “https://*“ and “http://*“

Works well.

Message to the author: This extension may soon no longer be supported because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions.

Good but inexplicably interferes with Javascript on at least one site, metafilter.com. When liking or unliking a post on that site, the site throws a warning that Javascript is disabled, even when it isn't. I feel like that should not happen. Added later: Also, the "alt-u" command that goes with extension to sort tabs prevents using the option key on Mac (which doubles as the alt key) to put an umlaut over a vowel. Ordinarily, when you type option + u, the next character you type will have umlauts over it, like this: ü. However, with this extension installed, instead your tabs are sorted and you can't get the ü at all! Also, despite the instructions in the extension's options pane that say «Open the extensions page scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Configure commands".», no such link or option is available in Microsoft Edge.

This extension is actually very good, but it can be a nightmare when you have 500 tabs and your browser crash. 1. The tab group will be broken, leaving the first 1 tab. 2. The tab order is broken.

Was cool until tried it with tab groups: save tab group then close/reopen it several time. 50% change that tab group reopen will break tab group: only the first tab remain in the group, other tabs open not grouped. UPDATE: Was able to fix tab groups behavior with another extension "Tab position customizer" configuring it's options : in my case I had to add custom rules for "chrome://newtab" and "chrome-extension://jpfpebmajhhopeonhlcgidhclcccjcik/override.html" only.

То, что нужно. Новая вкладка должна открываться справа от текущей. Если надо в конце, просто переходим на последнюю вкладку. Не понимаю, почему в настройках хрома нет такой опции. Даже в Опере это работает.

I don't know about tab groups, but this extension works perfectly for my use case: Open new tab to the right of current Open last active tab on closing the current Thank you to the author :-)

ok, but when no option after closing is fitting it jumps to the very last tab at the right. Perhaps another "rescue option" would help .)

This is the best chrome extension. My favorite features include: - Always open external links in a new tab (e.g. clicking on a figma/github/etc link in a Jira card will open in a new tab) - Always open new tabs alllll the way to the right, instead of to the right of current tab Once installed, go to chrome-extension://fjccjnfkdkdmjohojoggodkigkjkkjhl/options.html to choose the options you want. Thank you!

Enables me to have new tabs open at the top (my tab bar is vertical on the left) and to have a tab closing make the most recent active tab reopen.

Love the idea but not updated for best part of a decade means it has tons of bugs now (tested with chrome on windows 10) making it simply unusable for my needs

Sadly, the option to open a specific URL in a new tab doesn't work as expected. If I specify the the source domain that the link is located within it opens the link in a new tab. But if I specify the URL that the link points to, it doesn't work... It used to work, so I am guessing this extension needs updating by the developer.

Thank you, working perfect so far. Just switched from the 'New Tabs At End' extension which has become unusable.

It works, and have some cool extra options, but it breaks the order of some tabs when restoring from a previous saved session in "Tab Session Manager".

Finally, an extension the enables an option to toggle (Alt+c) btwn more recently activated tabs which should be the default, and is a standard option in Firefox (crtl+tab) rather than cycling thru all the tabs. I find Chrome, Edge, Fire Quantum etc. are still vastly inferior in terms of enhanced functionality as compared with Firefox legacy (ESR 52.9) with is extensions (I prefer a utility truck versus a stripped-down race car), thus enabling multiple tab rows (Quantum can be hacked to provide that), reducing tab width (I usually have dozens open thru sessions) and actual Colorful Tabs, a superior Session saver, etc. etc. I run Firefox ESR as well as Quantum portable, among other browsers. However, as a supplementary browser Chrome (portable) has its place, and this extension helps in that regard. Thank God for options and for those who provide them.
