Extra Options for Google Calendar

Image from store GCalPlus
Description from store Enhance your Google Calendar experience and boost your productivity with GCalPlus, the Chrome extension that adds powerful features to help you stay organized and efficient. GETTING STARTED: After installing GCalPlus, open Google Calendar in Chrome and click the GCalPlus icon in the Chrome navigation bar (top-right, next to your profile picture) to access its features. If you don’t see the icon, click the Extensions (puzzle piece) icon and pin GCalPlus for easy access. Some settings may require you to reload the page to take effect. For features that need access to your calendar or settings, click “Connect” to grant the necessary permissions. Having trouble? Try clicking “Disconnect” (top-left in the pop-out) and then “Connect” again allowing all the required permissions. ******* Recent Changes: 3.0.4 New improved Busy/Free display shows busy, free or both - with a red/green button in event popups to switch quickly between busy & free. 3.0.3 "Hide Invites On Shared Calendars", "Hide Primary RSVPs for Secondary Calendar Events", "Change Calendar" directly in event popups, guest options for copy/moves and cache enhancements for better performance. 3.0.2 Multi-calendar support for all "Other Calendars", better calendar list, improved "multiple copy" window with new button in main event popup, other UI tweaks. 3.0.1 Bug fix for holiday calendars 3.0.0 This version is a major update featuring a brand new UI with “Look” and “Feel” tabs, dark mode to match Google Calendar’s new look, multi-calendar support for busy dates and descriptions that display when you hover over events, and “debug” mode to help you help me to fix bugs. This is a significant rewrite with many optimisations under the hood and a new tabbed display to allow more features to be added in the future. 2.1.3 Multi-calendar support for busy dates & hover for descriptions 2.1.1 Added option for "Minimum Time Zone" What can GCalPlus do? Options for the LOOK: "Expand the Month Grid" (previously “Show More Events in Month View”): with this option you'll see at least twice as many events per day in the 'Month' view, and the entire page will scroll. For this reason, the option "Disable Month Scrolling" (in the “Feel” tab) should also be enabled. "Highlight & Toggle Busy/Free": Connect GCalPlus to Google Calendar and enable this option to see at a glance on which days have events in your chosen calendars. This works in all month previews, not only the year view, and also adds a red/green button in event popups to quickly toggle events between Busy & Free. "Show More All Day Events In Week/Day Views": With this option you can display twice as many All Day events in the Weekly and Daily views. "Hide Invites On Shared Calendars": When you invite someone who has shared their calendar with you this hides the duplicate that you see on their calendar. "Hide Primary RSVPs for Secondary Calendar Events": When people RSVP to invitations on secondary calendars their RSVP shows on your primary calendar. This option hides the "duplicate" event. "Hide Event Illustrations": use this to remove the pictures automatically added for events with keywords in the title. "Alphabetical All Day Events": All day events used to be grouped by calendar, then were listed alphabetically regardless of which calendar they were in... and now they are grouped by calendar again. Use this option to list all day events alphabetically again wherever possible. "Large Dots, Small Weekday Numbers": This applies several custom styles to Google Calendar - compact day/week column headers and larger coloured bullets for timed events. "Colour Timed Events / Timed Bars": These options allow you to change the way timed events are displayed in the Month and Year views. "Colour Timed Events" will set the text title colour to that of the calendar. "Timed Bars" will display timed events in the same way as "All Day" events, except with the time of the event. You can choose between dark and light title text, independently of the main colour scheme you use. These settings are not always applied instantly so please refresh the page if necessary. "Weekend Background": select a color for your weekends. Options for the "FEEL": “Disable Month Scrolling”: With this setting Google Calendar Plus will disable annoying month scrolling which allows you to use “Expand the Month Grid” to display more events per day in the Month View. "Use L/R Arrows": Why not use the usual left and right arrows instead of 'n' and 'p' for the next or previous day/week/month/year? "Expand Overlapping Timed Events": when you hover over timed events in the Week or Day view this option expands the event to full width, and brings it to the front for easier viewing. When using the "Alphabetical All Day Events" option this also allows you to see the full range of multi-day events. "Show Titles/Descriptions On Hover": When activated, this option will display a popup of the event title or description when you hover over events. Descriptions will be shown when they exist for all calendars selected in the Calendar Selector at the top of the GCalPlus window. For descriptions to be displayed GCalPlus must be connected to Google Calendar and at least one calendar selected. "Disable Clicks on Location": This prevents Maps from opening every time you click to copy/paste the location of an event. Click the Maps icon to the left of the location text if you still want to visit Maps for the event. “Create Events from Year Previews”. Click any day in the Year view to list the events on that day - with this option you'll also see a button labelled "Create Event" which allows you to immediately create a new event on that day. Use your browser "Back" button to return to Year View. “Multiple Copy”: Click the "Connect" icon top-left to allow GCalPlus to access your calendars then enable the option in the “Feel” tab and GCalPlus will add a new "Multiple Copy" button to every event pop-up. You can copy/duplicate events to any writable calendar directly from any view, and you can select whether to copy guests or not in the GCalPlus options. Copy events to the same date (duplicate the event), copy to a new date, or copy to multiple dates. Please note: repeat series will not be copied entirely, only the selected occurrence of the event will be copied. Please note: your system must use the same TimeZone setting as the Google Calendar for which you are copying events for the best results. "Change Calendar in Event Popups": This option allows you to select a new calendar for any event that you own directly in the event popup by simply choosing a new calendar in the drop-down list you see when clicking the calendar's name. When you select a new calendar the original event is immediately deleted, a new copy is created (with or without the original guests) and the popup closed so please be careful with this option - especially if the event in question has Guests. For safety, this option is only available for single (non-repeating) events. "First Time Zone": Select the first time zone to be displayed in every window where you can select time zones. No more endless scrolling to get to the ones you need! "Time Range": This option allows you to hide everything before and after specified times. ****** "Debug Mode": click 3 times very quickly on the "Dark mode" icon to toggle debug mode on/off. This will display debugging logs in the Chrome Dev Tools Console that can help me solve bugs. ***** GCalPlus is brought to you for free by GCalTools Power Tools for Google Calendar. • (2025-06-17) Nick R: I have been using google calendar to run my business for nearly 2 decades. At some point 12-15 years ago, Calendar restricted the All Day Events section to just a tiny fraction of the screen, with no way to adjust. I just discovered this extension 15 minutes ago. Whoever wrote this app you are a god send! Thank you thank you thank you!
  • (2025-04-22) B Moon: I searched and found this primarily for removing/blocking the mouse scroll changing the months in the calendar (so annoying and prone to making note/addition mistakes on events, etc). It seemed to install without issues, but then when clicking the extension icon the page would quickly refresh and the 'settings' pop out would disappear. I read some previous reviews here mentioning the 'remove-reinstall' fix and removed the extension, closed the browser, opened it, navigated to the extension in the store, added it, opened Google calendar, and clicked on the icon, and then connect. After giving Google access permissions the extension icon now opens the settings pop out which remains open for selections to be made. Bueno!
  • (2025-04-10) Walter Graham: I had the same problem as Sina Laura after the update. I tracked the issue down to this extension and then saw the developer's comment. I did the actions suggested and, bingo! It's working fine again. Thanks for the fix information. Chrome Version 135.0.7049.85 (Official Build) (64-bit)
  • (2025-04-01) Sina Laura: Loved it! But after the latest update in March 25, it's buggy and keeps reloading, so I can't use google calendar properly anymore. I had to deactivate the extension! :( Hope it will work again eventually. Edit: Reinstalling worked! All good again, thank you! And the new feature (hovering over event shows description) is great!
  • (2025-03-12) Andrew P.: WOW, the high visibility of colored background for repeating events like repeating work schedules vs single event air travel, medical appointments, family gatherings etc. is exactly what I've been craving ever since I started relying on google cal for saving appointments and planning the day! I also appreciate developer sharing in prior reviews the challenge of keeping it working amidst inevitable google cal updates. It makes it easier to take sporadic glitches in stride, knowing the fix is on it's way any day. Thanks for the can't do without now extension! So far it readily loaded and updated existing calendars... works smooth!
  • (2025-02-06) Stephen Kron: I am just thrilled to not have months jumping around as I try to add events. Thank you!! It is remarkable that Google thought this would be a helpful feature and offers no way to turn it off. There are so many aspects of tools that we use daily that are similarly maddening. Hopefully, once AI is writing all the code instead of some kid who will never use the software and is long gone to another gig, we can get this kind of stuff fixed.
  • (2024-11-28) Sarah Wilford: I love the ideas behind this extension, but it glitches in so many different ways that it's very unreliable. I just wish it worked better!
  • (2024-11-04) S T: Love how versatile it is but asa I authorise the extension the menu disappears when I click on it. It's there when I have not authorised it. Any chance to solve this issue?
  • (2024-10-31) Immanuel Kim: The extension has been working wonderfully, but just recently the arrow keys stopped scrolling through my days/weeks/months/etc. I'm not entirely sure if it's an issue with the extension or something else, but it looks like the Google Calendar UI changes have been messing up some features. I'm writing this review to bring awareness of my issue!
  • (2024-10-30) Dan J: I also love this extension but the "Multiply copy" button disappeared. Can you give a projected date on when this might be solved by? Otherwise I unfortunately have to look for a different solution. Thanks so much Neil!
  • (2024-10-30) Charna Ambers: Hi, I'm new to this - what is the main goal of this extension? Can we add new colors to calendar labels? Is there another way to ask questions on this? Thanks so much!
  • (2024-09-24) Sarra Lev: I've twice had to unistall and reinstall because it randomly makes my month view have a ton of white space in the boxes, and for me that defeats the purpose of month view because I can't see the whole month at once on my screen - I have to scroll down to see anything beyond two weeks. There are some things I love about the app, but this is very frustrating.
  • (2024-09-21) Thierry Suzanne: Can you add a feature to wrap the text of the event title on the month view? particularly useful when printing!
  • (2024-09-01) Keith Wright: Thanks for this great extension. It is extremely useful. I am also very impressed at how quick the developer's response has been to questions and suggestions I have had. I can thoroughly recommend the extension and the work the developer has done and is continuing to do.
  • (2024-07-18) Edgar Antão: Perfect declutter for G Calendar
  • (2024-07-18) Grant Schofield: Hides non active hours! Actually makes the calendar useful. Thrilled that I can finally use my Gcal without clutter
  • (2024-07-11) אור-טל קריתי: Fantastic! Does exactly what I want it to do and helps me get around in my Google Calendar!
  • (2024-07-10) Sasha Matar: I use this extension purely for one reason, and that's the "Month's show busy dates from :" Option. This allows your little month view on the left side to highlight the days that you have an event or a task on (This also translates to highlighting the days in the YEARLY calender view) Every 2-3 months this function completely stops working and it's the most infuriating thing I can deal with as I jump through many, many hoops to remediate it. A few of these are : uninstall the extension, clear cache, unauthorise and re-authorise, uninstall google chrome and pray to the flying spaghetti monster in the sky. There is no definite solution and I can never recall what I did the last time to make it work, it suddenly just starts working again. (This includes disabling all other extension including any Dark mode options). Please fix this.
  • (2024-06-22) Jennifer Estlin: This is a wonderful tool -thank you! If you're accepting feature requests - as a live event venue, it would be so great to have a more specific time filter - so that you could see events between e.g. 6pm - 2am (evening shows), or 9am-6pm(for events during business hours).
  • (2024-06-16) Sarah Johnson: Any chance you can add a color labels feature? Calendars under school or professional accounts have the ability to assign labels for certain colors, but it doesn't apply to personal accounts.
  • (2024-05-19) Adam Grey Smith: Absolutely LOVE this app!! IF there is any possible way to make a continuous smooth vertical scroll between months in month view for desktop (like the feature on tablets) would be incredible. Would happily pay for this feauture even in advance of it being developed. feel free to contact me man
  • (2024-05-14) Daveena Pershad: I wanted to duplicate events with a keyboard shortcut -- this extension did MUCH MORE than I bargained for and I am AMPED! Best feature is being able to "copy multiple" #timesaver. Second best is the scrolling, resizing and colour options. Thanks Creator - you're a Genius!
  • (2024-04-19) Gregory Reed: UPDATE. Prevents Mouse Wheel Scrolling Month to Month I guess been like it for a while & put up with it but annoying now, Perhaps an update has/will fix but I use another ext. that does what I want Looks really good. Wish list : Change background colour of weekends Really highlight current day, not just the OEM blue dot Perhaps too much info. but would love option to display the Details on hover, is handy the full title but this would be a great addition. nice but not essential change background colour overall. (I see other ext's to do some of these things but not sure want to merge too many)

  • (2024-04-03) Diana Nonesuch: "Day Start/End" option works great so I can limit the hours I see. Also appreciate clear instructions on how to get it started and running. Thank you!
  • (2024-03-20) Crystal Clear Pob: Hi! This extension is perfect to see only active hours. But I can't see to change color of the weekends?
  • (2024-03-15) Max Gryaznov: I wanted to see only hours from 7 am tp 11 pm. Works perfect, thanks!
  • (2024-02-20) Howard Treisman: I absolutely love this extension, thank you so much for your hard work! Two tiny suggestions: 1. For showing "Busy" days on the small preview calendar in the left sidebar, it would be very helpful to be able to select multiple calendars instead of just one. For example, I want to see free days regardless of whether the event is in my business, personal, or travel calendars. 2. I have set my custom view (X shortcut) to "two weeks", which works quite well in terms of density. Unfortunately, your "more months events" also affects this view, making it pretty much unusable. It may not be possible to fix this, but perhaps you could try.
  • (2024-02-12) Sajna: Great app, but I wanted the multiple copy to copy an event or even multiple events within the same day or even make it easier to press the button multiple times. Instead I have to keep going to the three dots which is slightly annoying honestly. But otherwise, it is very simple to use.
  • (2024-01-31) Martin Murray: Not sure if it's something I have done but the option "Alphabetical All Day Events" doesn't seem to be working the last few days. Otherwise it's a great plugin and massive thank you to the Pied Piper for creating it. Love from Ireland!
  • (2024-01-22) Fanny Ramos: The start/end time is not working, I set the times but no changes occur.
  • (2024-01-21) Ethan Bald: Where is multiple copy. Whole reason I downloaded and not availiable
  • (2024-01-10) Devin Nelson: There's no setting for day start/end for me. Where do I find this setting?
  • (2024-01-04) David Porter: Update: *Oh dear, multiple copy has fallen over! Hopefully you'll have a fix v. soon... -2 stars temporarily...* Finally you have solved my biggest frustration with Google calendars - not being able to copy an event multiple times without it fitting into a regular recurring pattern! I used to have to do this on my phone using Business Calendar but this is great, thank you!

  • (2024-01-03) distance near: May you please fix the mutiple copy ? Thank you so much.
  • (2024-01-03) Heidi Broughman: PLEASE FIX MULTIPLE COPY AND DUPLICATE and I will re-review to 5 star. I need this for scheduling and since the update it is broken. :(
  • (2023-12-30) Joshua Monks: 'Multiple copy' does not work anymore. Shame because this was the only reason I downloaded this extension.
  • (2023-12-09) Bishal Singha: NO OPTION TO VIEW YOUR EVENTS IN YEARLY VIEW
  • (2023-11-29) Gregory Davis: Thank you very much for working hard to create this extension. You bring value to those who use Google Calendar.

  • (2023-10-30) Ben Warheit: took a little bit of trial and error to understand some of the features but now am able to see the utility in most. I do think that when you hide nighttime hours, there should be some easy way to access those hidden hours should you need to - like something to click that expands/shows the hidden hours. If there is a way to do this, I missed it during the video perhaps, but I can't figure it out from just the menu.

  • (2023-08-14) Justin Miller: Been looking for something to stop showing me the 12am-6am time frame, and this did it....except now for the popups when I schedule a new event, the buttons don't work -- Save, More Options, Discard. I have to reload the calendar page to make it go away. Please fix and I will give 5 stars, thank you!

  • (2023-07-26) Mary Stone: I used to really like this extension (and will really like it again if this gets fixed!), but for the past few weeks, it's been preventing me from adding/modifying notifications to events, which is a crucial feature that I desperately need, so I'll have to keep it disabled until the issue is fixed. :(
