  • (2023-09-08) Varniit Professional: This review for dev only. Hey dev, I am using your addon "Tiny Suspender" for almost 3 years since late 2019 after The Great Suspender become useless, and somehow your addon was useful, effective and never made me look back anywhere else. As a result, I am using it on all of my browsers wherever I could install this like on chrome, edge, brave, vivaldi and opera. But it works occasionally and sometimes that is also a failure. Major problems that I face while using your addon on edge. I have done settings within your addon to accept dark theme for itself and the pages suspended, but every other time, it is light/white. Next, pages both system pages and url pages, which I have requested your addon to not suspend, suspends itself thus not respecting any settings done. Examples like "edge://favorites/?id=1", "edge://history/all", "edge://wallet/", "edge://settings/passwords", "edge://apps/all" are whitelisted in your addon like this, edge://history/syncedTabs edge://favorites/ edge://favorites/?id=1 edge://favorites/?id=1 chrome-extension://fiedbfgcleddlbcmgdigjgdfcggjcion/management/management.html edge://settings/profiles edge://settings/privacy edge://favorites/ edge://newtab/ but still, these tabs are suspended. So, please look into these bugs. Also on opera, your addon fails to work. Also why your addon isnt available on edge addon store? Please consider adding to it. On chrome, it doesnt reflect in battery savings and tab resource usage. please check into that. Thanks. Will change my ratings once you resolve these bugs in edge and opera.
  • (2023-08-24) Oleksandr Koshevierov: The extension works good untill you want to exclude some tab or site from being unloaded. It works few days and then forget all the settings and tabs are unloaded again.
  • (2023-07-22) Andre Panday: This extension works well but when you disable auto suspension for a specific tab or add the tab whitelist and have dark mode enable it disables dare mode for all suspended tabs.
  • (2023-05-03) Alejandro Mangioni: Best extension of all alternatives. Frees your memory and delivers! Thank you!
  • (2023-04-20) Кирилл Солоненко: After removing it from browser it closed ALL tabs. SHAME on the developer. What a horrible extension.
  • (2023-04-01) Jiří Kříž: I would really appreciate the possibility of total oled black theme of the suspended page. Other than that, perfect extenson.
  • (2023-03-31) RayDillanV: I've been using this extension going on two years now and it does it exactly what it says. It saves memory and usually makes my life easier... as someone working with software, I often have into the 30s+ in tabs open. You can customize it to not suspend websites or specific pages as well. Even though I have a lot of memory, this simple extension makes chrome my go-to despite its tendency to act like it needs more than 3 gigs max of ram to run multiple videos at once.
  • (2022-11-20) Gangus K (Gangus is Gamer Tag): I used to stand by this Extension until settings STOPPED Working! No matter what time you put in this app suspends tabs almost immediately! It also does NOT work according to "White Listed" tabs and You'll LOSE Comments on Twitter or other sites when they too are all SUSPENDED!
  • (2022-09-27) Clemens Ratte-Polle: DANGER! You can lose all your tabs with Tiny Suspernde by deactivating it! :( Your tabs are NOT save! Use instead: Auto Tab Discard But the rest is good :) context-menue on tabs would be even better :) What about dark mode for suspended tabs, meaning white or black color? And could you make an option to open background tabs always in suspended mode? thx
  • (2022-06-27) Kenneth Thomas: BEWARE. Once you enable it-- there appears to be no way to back out of having your tabs controlled by it. If you disable, tabs it has suspended are lost. If you try "unsuspend all," no go. You're stuck. Tell it not to suspend any more tabs? It keeps doing so. And it obfuscates tab icons / names when it suspends. Naughty naughty, hard to work with.
  • (2022-06-09) Denis Huberland: I don't write often reviews but in this case, I'll gladly do it. I have tried several other similar tools but this one is really the best and easiest I tried. And more important it works as announced ! I advice it to everyone.
  • (2022-04-27) Online ReD Settings: Simply the best, most versatile suspender out there. I use it in native mode, together with the "sloth" extension and it's a great combination. (suggestion: include the "sloth" functionality directly in Tiny Suspender)
  • (2022-03-10) Daniel Rem.: when I restart my browser, all the tab icons switched to a power off icon, so impossible to know which tab is which. This is why uninstalled.

  • (2022-01-08) Jon Baldry: Like many others I'd been looking for a replacement for the Great Suspender for some time. So far, Tiny Suspender does seem to be the best of a not particularly great bunch. Honestly, 80% Of the time I'd probably have given it a 4 or even 5 star rating and a much better review but there are two issues for me. The first is that, every now and then for some seemingly random reason, it will suspend the tab I'm actually working on. This can be a major issue and has caused me to lose work on online forms and graphics packages as well as, for instance, suspending Facebook and when re-opened, I can't find the post I was commenting on. This random suspension is far and away the worst thing about Tiny Suspender. The second issue is a recent one (And one I admit may not be the fault of the dev, but could be a Chrome update issue) but now, if I bring a suspended tab to the front, even if I have the option for automatically re-starting a suspended page checked, the suspended pages wont re-start without being clicked on first. This is admittedly a relatively minor irritation, but it is one that I find affects work flow adversely. If both these issues were sorted, I would definitely upgrade this to a 5 start review meanwhile I'll carry on using Tint Suspender as, as I said previously, it does still seem to be the least worst option out there. Edit - 08/01/22 Well, I'm afraid that I've had to drop my review to 1 star and I'm looking for a replacement as It's getting close to being unusable for me now. Neither of the two issues I commented on previously have been addressed. I can live with having to click on a tab to open it despite having the app set to open automatically, but the fault where it randomly suspends a tab that I'm working on has gotten worse with each update of Chrome. Frequently now I'll be typing into a form and the tab will suspend for no apparent reason, losing all of the work I've just done and it just can't carry on like that. I can't recommend this app to anyone until that fault is fixed and, as there have been no updates since 2017, it would appear that any work on and support for this app has been suspended
  • (2021-11-10) Fireblade AU: This extension has worked well for me over a the last 3 months however since a recent update in Brave (uses the chrome engine), this plugin seems to have a memory leak as in the Brave Task Manager this extension is ALWAYS active and every second the memory usage fluctuates slowly up and down with a steady trend upwards. After a few days Brave crashes due to running out of memory. Note that is an issue on a Windows 7 system. I really hope that this bug will be fixed for the Brave Browser. I know it works well with Chromium on Linux without the memory leak. Dev I will rate as 5-stars with this bug is fixed on the Brave Windows 7 platform.
  • (2021-10-24) John Rice: Tiny size and fine work - the best options of any extention! Thanks!
  • (2021-10-12) Yiyang Xu: Used so many extensions, and this one provides the most comprehensive functionality and smooth experience with 34 kilobytes.
  • (2021-09-20) bino bolado: Seria melhor se tivesse opção de suspender após 20 segundos / It would be better if you had the option to suspend after 20 seconds
  • (2021-08-05) eraldo: simple and functional. light and minimalist. excellent!
  • (2021-07-13) abolfazl afshar: it is way better than others .
  • (2021-05-31) Martien Verbruggen: Have been using this for a few months now, and it does exactly what I need, and does it the way I want it to.
  • (2021-05-17) Josef Schönbäck (Strobosaur): So far so good :) More often than not i have the open tab count close to or above the chrome maximum, and this plugin works well to save memory etc. I've used it for about a year, and so far i've not run into any problems with it - it does what it does, no unexpected behavior or crashes, etc. The only thing i wish is it had an option to load the icons of all the tabs on browser restart - it would help when you're at the point where you have to shut some tabs down. But that's a bonus that would be nice, i definitely recommend this plugin to multi-tab junkies.
  • (2021-05-05) Andres Urena: One of the best I've tried. There are a bunch of this available online, and since the fall of "The Great Suspender", all of them are kinda of the same (but not quite). This in particular works very well due it's simplicity and low maintenance. Hope it keeps that way!
  • (2021-03-29) Peter Kim: Great extension, migrated from Great Suspender (rip) and I can't find anything to complain about this extension!
  • (2021-03-23) Vladimir G: Thank to this awful thing i lost all the data on the page i was working on. It reloaded page and pufff, all you data on that page lost.
  • (2021-03-09) lara P: Мені подобається! Дякую!
  • (2021-03-08) Ariana Melaniti: Have used it for about 3 weeks, works fine, restored fine even when my pc crashed and had to hard reboot.
  • (2021-02-28) Sejiren: I was looking for an alternative for The Great Suspender and this one does the job just fine, I'm not experiencing any problems on the newest version of Brave (1.20.110). I would like to be able to set a shortcut to suspend only the active tab of my active window, though, like the "Suspend This Tab" option in the context menu. The "Suspend active tab" shortcut suspends the active tab of all my open browser windows.
  • (2021-02-07) HM Ham: Moved from "The great suspender" and i think "Tiny suspender" is not just great alternative of TGS but it is better for performance side. Since TGS perform kind of a "Reloading tab" job on opening chrome, TGS takes some times for opening chrome. So if you are like me, having a bunch of tabs like 800+tabs, you can actually feel the difference.
  • (2021-02-06) Beau Daniel: Came from The Great Suspender, I like being able to suspend when I CHOOSE TO, not automatically. Good replacement!
  • (2021-02-05) Fer Rocha: Hace su trabajo excelente, reduce considerablemente el uso de ram, excelente alternativa para "The Great Suspender", no le pide nada
  • (2021-02-05) David H: Great extension. Migrated from The Great Suspender after they found a malware in it. Hoping this never happens here. So far I like it. Thanx TS developer!
  • (2021-02-04) ever lasting: Moved from infamous Great Suspender. Tried 2 other extensions. Finally found this one. It works very smooth and is really user-friendly.
  • (2020-12-15) Maurício Miranda: o melhor! pequeno e confiável!
  • (2020-09-01) Legion: User-friendly, and does what I require of it. Suspends/restores all or individually.
  • (2020-03-24) Geste Two: Amazing concept for an extension. Would love a simple one-click suspend active tab. 90% useless because it auto suspends the active tab in EVERY open browser window, every time you click it. Issue has been known for over a year and not been fixed; assuming extension's abandoned.
  • (2020-01-28) Kostas Margiavičius: Didn't find the extension working as I wanted to, but that's not the problem. After removing the extension, most of my tabs, including pinned ones, automatically closed, how could that be related?
  • (2019-10-24) Jay Kim: Working awesome and does exactly what it is intended to do. One thing I would love (if possible) is for it to save & display a screenshot of the suspended tab's content so that it's easier to discern what it was before it got suspended. (sometimes the website subject alone isn't enough)
  • (2019-07-25) Chris Vydas: Somewhat annoyed with this extension but it's so small I put up with it. My biggest gripe is every time I open a new tab it hibernates at the time internal I set, which wouldn't be a problem normally or if I weren't still using the active tab when it does this but even while I'm typing (baaaam) it goes into hibernate, much of the time I lose data important to me like a long email or wordy forum post as the tab has to reload to wake up losing what I typed in the process. If that didn't happen, easy 4 stars. Other problem, dark mode does not always persist.
  • (2019-04-21) Константин Шкодских: Thanks. Please add keyboard shortcuts for actions: suspend, suspend all etc.
  • (2018-12-07) Carol DeLis: Good concept, what I wanted, to be able to control suspensions, BUT tried it out on three tabs. Suspended them nicely. Check in Task Manager, swap useage went down. BUT could NOT wake them up! Not by what it says, to click anywhere. Tried to menu, wake up this tab, wake up all suspended tabs. Nothing worked. Had to send them all to One Tab to save them. Uninstalling. THOUGHT I HAD UNINSTALLED IT! It wasn't and suspended 3 tabs. In anger, uninstalled it again. Since I could NOT UNSUSPEND THEM, I sent them to OneTab, hoping. NOW THERE IS A BUNCH OF CODING WHICH i SUPPOSED i CAN UNCODE, with all those extra signs in between, or may be able to read to know what they were. Why does it not UNsuspend??
  • (2018-10-08) BLH BSIT: I moved from "Tab Suspender" even though it worked perfect. Tab suspender has an annoying issue I don't like. Tab Suspender places an icon in the center of the page. If the mouse cursor runs across the icon, the page wakes up. I regularly accidentally wake up a page VERY often. Tiny suspender however does not open a page unless you click the Mouse button. PERFECT. NO accidents. So far this add on is absolutely fantastic. It works exactly as expected. I can right click and suspend a tab or click to wake up. I have all the automatic and manual controls desired and that are helpful. Thanks!!!
  • (2018-08-16) Gabriel Bennett: Using this extension with the native discards functionality. It's absolutely wonderful. My RAM utilization has gone from 6+ GB to around 1 GB, and CPU doesn't randomly spike from some webpage constantly loading ads in the background. Super happy with this extension, give it a shot.
  • (2018-06-21) Rob Bl: I've tried a few similar extensions, and while this one ranks high, it had a dealbreaker issue for me: There's no way to tell which tabs are suspended without visiting them. If this extension faded the favicons of suspended tabs so one could tell at a glance which tabs were suspended, it might be my #1.
  • (2018-06-15) Aleksandar Ruseski: As far as I've researched. other tab suspenders don't have the option NOT to automatically suspend tabs and to only manually suspend/unsuspend with keyboard shortcuts, just the way I like it. Thanks author. (to disable automatic suspension, set timer to 0) (edit: After some time using it, I've learned that suspending one tab in one window has an effect on a tab in another window as well. This is unexpected and unwanted behavior. Details: I am suspending 16th tab in first window, and the 11h tab of the second window also gets suspended. The reverse is also true. Note: this only happens when I am using the shortcut keys for suspending/unsuspending)

Not bad. One thing that annoys me is that the suspended tab icons are same as all the other active tabs. Hello, If you use a keyboard shortcut to suspend/restore a particular tab, it also aftects the active tabs on all browser windows, when it should apply only to the active tab in the active window. If you suspend/restore via the Tiny Suspender menu in the toolbar, the extension behaves as expected and doesn't affect other windows. Would it be possible to fix it? Thanks, Fabio

  • (2021-02-11, v:1.3.0) Kyle Rhodes: YouTube Suspended Resume Time
Like many others, I am coming from the Great Suspender. One of the features I would like to see make its way to Tiny Suspender is when you restore a YouTube.com URL, I would like for it to resume the playback to where it was before. The Great Suspender used to append the "time" URL query parameter at the end of the youtube.com URL so that it would start off right at the same time the video was suspended. Below is an example of the "t" query parameter: ?t=418 It's similarly used when you share a video at an exact timestamp so that when you open the URL, it jumps to the exact spot in the video. I would like to see this added to Tiny Suspender so that videos that are paused can be suspended and then when restored it will start back where it was paused at. Best, Kyle

I love Tiny Suspender, but I have found an issue which only occurs if the auto suspend is disabled by setting it to 0. The issue is that the onSuspendAll() and onSuspendOthers() functions in popup.js send the "ts_auto_suspend_tab" command. "Suspend all" works if the command is changed to "ts_suspend_tab".
  • (2019-10-11, v:1.3.0) Volker Siegel: Menu entry wastes menu space.
It adds an entry to the context menu. If that is not used, it wastes menu space which is a resource in pretty short supply. It may be even more relevant if other extensions modify the context menu too. A side effect is that the extension modifies the user interface in this single point, and looses having a perfect interface for something that adds to the browsers functionality. That is: Settings. (The icon can be hidden and is acceptable, and not under control of the extension.)
