Plain Text Linker
Opens plain text URLs when you double-click on them.
**This addon won't be maintained further.** I'm shelving this project due to lack of interest/utility and too much burden. The addon will remain available for download as long as the store allows, and the source at https://gitlab.com/Marnes-group/webextensions will also remain available to fork.
*You can check out my greasyfork account instead**, and get new versions of CSL, DID, and IBCP there: https://greasyfork.org/en/users/18593-marnes
**Please buy me a coffee** if you've enjoyed my work: https://buymeacoffee.com/marnes
Also available for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/plain-text-linker/
When you double-click on a piece of plain text, Plain Text Linker tries to determine if what you clicked could be a URL and tries to open it.

Absolute gem and very useful. I spent some time testing a few extensions like this and this is the only one which delivers what it promised and works everywhere I need it.
I love it. It's very nice for when accessing a list of links from sites like GitHub in raw view, where it's a flat text document. I wish that it would somehow alter the page to underline all links so they stand out more, and if there was a way to single-click the link rather than double-clicking it.

With browsers I often use mouse doubleclick for many reasons, e.g. to translate words. "Plain Text Linker" obviously makes nof difference between likely and unlikelely links. It even opens some single words as URI in a new tab. This should not happen. For example it tried to open the german word "begonnen" as URL (opening new tab, converting "begonnen." to "https://begonnen./". Note that "https://begonnen." is not even a complete domain! ( this happens quite often and is annoying. For this special case doubleclick "begonnen." at https://www.n-tv.de/politik/Taliban-treffen-sich-mit-Ex-Praesident-Karsai-article22750896.html ) This can be far better as you can see with Firefox and it's addon "Text Link" by ""Piro" Hiroshi". I had to disable this Chrome extension.
Why do you need to get access to the browsing history?

It does work as announced :-) Any chance that we could have in the config options which event should trigger the script? I.e. instead of double-click, any of the ones here https://www.w3.org/TR/DOM-Level-3-Events/#events-mouse-types or here https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Events I would personally love to be able to use a single right-click instead of double left-click (my web app already uses double left-click for something different).

incredibly useful. doesn't work on links within parentheses, or that have periods right after them, but i love it nonetheless

Great, very useful extension. Thanks to its creator! I'd like to see in future versions a setting that allows you to choose how to open a new tab: passively (as it is now) or actively.

The ONLY text to link extension that works on all my sites. Thanks!! It would be nice to have the option to make the link stand out (bold and underline) even when I'm just viewing the page. But I really cant complain! Thanks for a great app!

Спасибо, то что я искал!
I don't understand how you can browse without this extension... It would be nice if the settings could have support for more languages.
