Image from store Lazy Scholar
Description from store Lazy Scholar automatically searches for a freely available full text the instant you open a scientific paper. In use, it finds one 36-41% of the time*. NEW: Lazy Scholar can deep link with your institution to find full texts even when you're off campus. In addition, it attempts to extract helpful information about the paper if relevant such as quick links to the population, intervention, outcomes, measurements, funding statement, outline, references, abbreviations, and supplemental documents. Further, it checks for comments on the paper in PubPeer, provides various citation metrics on the paper and journal, and one-click citation styles, including a preformed powerpoint style. Features in further detail: -Infobar automatically appears when a paper is opened & tells you if a free full text is available, and provides various metrics & comments, along with fast citations. -This can be turned off and you can click the browser button for these. -Type "LS" in the address bar and quickly query Google Scholar, PubMed, or Web of Science. -Search your paper history with natural language. -Get new PubMed listing recommendations - Lazy Scholar learns your research preferences automatically based on what papers you open. -Citation count (GScholar's, Web of Science, and Altmetric.com score). -PubPeer comment count -Journal ranking -Attempts to find a contact email address for the paper you are searching -Auto generated sharing links (Twitter, email, Mendeley, Endnote, RefWorks, etc) -Fast copying of citation to clipboard (over 900 citation styles, including a short citation for PowerPoint slides). -Paper details listed in PubMed search results if available. -Highlight text on a page, right click, "Search Google Scholar" for fast searching. -Automatically checks Beall's list of predatory journals and notifies of a match -Quick link to hypothes.is annotation layer -Recommended citations from citepeer.io -Optional check for preregistration through ClinicalTrials.gov, ISRCTN registry, ANZCTR registry, OSF.io, AsPredicted.org, and PROSPERO -Option to block non-scholarly websites for 1 hour to reduce online distractions :) -------------------------------------------- Note: Please report bugs! • (2023-02-01) Kawaii_Karma: I forgot I had downloaded this and was wondering why I could access academic articles on Chrome but not Firefox. This thing is currently saving me right now as I write an essay that has so many readings my univeristy doesn't have access to
  • (2022-01-17) Innocentius: This extension always tries to download PDF file from Wikipedia pages even though I turned everything related to PDF off.
  • (2021-10-18) Jurij Fedorov: Couldn't get it to work. It's also sluggish and fills up your browser tab.
  • (2018-08-15) YY Li: 雖說找到pdf很方便,但按了可沒有下載功能,除非某個網站把下載按鈕藏起來,不然實在雞肋阿
  • (2018-04-09) Yujie Yuan: great tool for improving productivity of academic works.
  • (2017-08-24) Bin Zhi: It is great, but it needs some improvement. It takes forever for it to show infos like an impact factor on some journals such as "Advances in Colloid and Interface Science". If there is no info in the database, can it just admit it and mark it as unknown instead of keep searching? Plus, maybe I was wrong but I think you should be able to find a complete list in excel file for impact factor somewhere on the internet.
  • (2017-04-27) Familees: Not sure how I ever did any assignments without it. Originally looking for Refworks this beats it hands down. the ability to find full text/PDF and associated papers are great. Don't forget it will cite the paper in which ever format you need, including the particular university style. Ie "Coventry-Harvard" or "DeMonfort-MLA". There's also the "related/suggested papers" tab which will find as it says on the tin related papers usually with full text and referencing. Could not recommend it enough.
  • (2017-04-20) Dave Suffling: Runs automatically, even when it's configured not to. Since I can't turn it off without disabling the extension, I wonder what data it's sending out about my browsing habits!
  • (2017-01-21) ZM ZHU: good!
  • (2016-10-21) T P: It's a sine qua non tool for everyone that need to accelerate the search for important articles to research. Download it NOW and stop to spend your time.
  • (2016-10-12) Adam Li: It's quite useful. But it keeps popping up automatically even when the options had all been set to "no". This is really annoying and unusable.
  • (2016-03-30) Oliver Stringham: I love the updates: ability to click to show, buttons for add to mendeley, sci hub and university library buttons too.
  • (2015-04-14) Carlos Rizo: Cannot live without it, it just works
  • (2015-03-13) Jeff Kang: Thank you! I just wish Google would allow an option to put a small "open access" symbol next to a search result to indicate which articles are free to read.
  • (2015-03-07) Chow Xiang: Helpful! It indeed save me much time!
  • (2015-03-02) Heather Matthews: It was fine and great for a while. There was a recent update that has it saying that facebook is a predatory journal. ... not so much.
  • (2015-02-25) Burak Ogan Mancarci: Great extension. Quite useful. Though the new predatory journal detection is kinda glitchy and shows up at random pages that are not journals at all. For instance if you try to view a page's source code, you'll see it pop up.
  • (2015-01-13) Kevin Qi: great app! helps a lot!
  • (2015-01-12) Eylem Kanol: great idea and works most of the time. helps a lot if you or your library do not have access to certain journals. if you are lucky you will find full text versions of articles with this extension.
  • (2014-11-07) druid manus: it work!
  • (2014-10-24) wow, One tedious process just got simpler and much faster! thanks alot!
  • (2014-09-08) Susanne Elisabeth Haslund Sørensen: this did not work for me. tried 10 mins.
  • (2014-05-04) Géza Kiss: It hardly ever found PDF documents for scholarly articles. I like the idea (that's why I gave it 3 stars), but in its current form, I did not find it useful at all. So I just decided to use extensions for reference manager systems (Mendeley, Zotero, etc.)
  • (2014-03-23) Ryan Buttery: An excellent extension. I prefer to think of myself as efficient rather than lazy though!
  • (2014-03-21) Crystal “Qrystal” McKenzie: This might be my first time reviewing a Chrome Extension... but this extension has transformed my research life, and it is totally worth five stars. And even though I try not to identify with "lazy", I definitely dislike having to jump through hoops when trying to glance through a few dozen papers to see if they touch on an idea I need to reference. Now... it's like... I'm SURFING between articles!
  • (2014-03-10) Corrado Mencar: An interesting application but a bit too intrusive (especially in PDF download). Also it is too slow
  • (2014-01-29) Great extension! It really does save time for locating and citing articles. Thanks!
  • (2014-01-25) John Mutch: Definitely a niche application could not get interface to work. Might be because I am not to familiar with this type of extension. I was looking for a simple program that allow me to view all links on a page and select which items I want to archive.
