• (2022-03-23) Simple Doughnuts: Tried this several times in several ways but it was a NoGo from the beginning. I even went so far as resetting the browser entirely. Removed all other extensions. Logged into Slack, and began to use the app. At the end of the day I wound up removing all messages manually. I did read about the python scripts but didn't want to have to deal with a token without reading the script to make sure it was all fine --- thats not to say that this app is safe just because its on the Chrome web store; but more so that it reminded me that I should take a pause on using these types of apps. Anyway, don't waste your time or your money (I did the $2 but not worth disputing either)

Now it asks me to pay $2 more to get functionality that I already paid $5 for. Not gonna pay more money for something that I already paid for. Plus, there is literally no way to contact the dev. Also, it doesn't work at all as an unpaid version -- so I'm not even sure that paying $2 more will cause things to work. Lame.

• (2019-03-05) Blah Blahs: OK, I managed to get this crappy extension working. Firstly, the "fetch all messages" is buggy. If you have a LOT of messages in the chat, the extension will have a hard time loading all the messages since the very beginning of the conversation. It will almost always crash after a while. The way it "loads" the messages is simply scrolling up until it reaches the beginning. However, I found that if you manually scroll up and then click on the extension, it will fetch all the messages up until the point you scrolled up to (from bottom up). So knowing this, we can write a Autohotkey script. I use F2 to run the script (see below). The script relies on the mouse cursor being focused on the Slack window in your browser. However, because I'm using virtual machines, as soon as the mouse is moved outside of the virtual machine console window, the scrolling stops. So the script basically moves the mouse to the center of the screen within the virtual machine window. Anyway, once you have finished deleting messages, click anywhere on the Slack page and then click the extension again. Also the window disappear when the browser lose focus, and at re-running it again shows the same remaining messages. So one can not touch the computer while this stuff "works". So it is better to write node.js application, then use this extension.
• (2018-11-08) Nicholas Viers: I paid for the extension for 30 days. The first day it worked fine. Every time I've tried to use it since then nothing happens. It's been a week and every single time I use it it says it's batch deleting when NOTHING ever gets deleted. Nothing has changed. Same slack, same user account but for some reason it just does not work.

Not sure if this was a coincidence but I refreshed the page then I scrolled from bottom to top using Page-up key (not the scroll bar) then launched the extension and I was able to delete by user. Obviously could be better but it is the only way I could find to bulk delete a ton of messages moy bot generated.

  For some reason, the Slack Deleter extension no longer works for me. I've been using the free single-channel version, and I changed the name of the Slack channel I use with the extension, so I thought maybe that confused Slack Deleter.
