• (2023-06-10) Jason Huggins: To people saying it doesn't work, this works on image animation. If you are still seeing images that move, then you need NoScript. This does not block scripts. Use this with NoScript and Ad Block Plus and you are good to go!! But again to people saying this does not work, you are seeing scripts and this isn't for that type of image movements.

May 2021 - install the extension - close & restart browser (might not be required) - click the 'puzzle' piece to see extensions, click the lightning bolt - select the animation mode - refresh the page with the annoying gifs... they've stopped! NOTE: only stops gifs, not html or flash animations. If you're not sure if it's a gif that is annoying you, right click on the animation and select 'save image as...' If it is a gif the dialog will show "file type: Compuserve GIF (*.gif)"

• (2021-03-03) Make Name Acceptable Go: Worked great in earlier versions of Vivaldi browser. Now Vivaldi has that as a setting option. Not as handy as this extension, but I set up a keyboard shortcut for it, so it's ok. Thanks to the Dev for a great extension. I'll be removing it, since updated Vivaldi overrides it.

• (2020-07-16) Robert Smith: Worked as advertised. Installed extension. Went to website with animated gifs, etc. Clicked on animation policy icon on toolbar and selected "Allow animated images but only once" radio button. Obviously knowing it would not work until I refreshed the page, I did just that, refreshed the page and all the animations ran once and then stopped. Also tried the "Disable All Image Animations" radio button, refreshed the page and it worked again without issues. My thanks to the developer as scrolling screenshots cannot work unless animation is stopped first. Now that animations have stopped scrolling screenshots work as intended.
• (2020-02-29) Allen Ding: It works as advertised, and blocks gifs just like I expected. I don't know why some people say it doesn't work at all, but with Brave and Ubuntu Mate, it works fine.
• (2020-01-15) Kyle Johnston: It works for me. I think the low rating is because it only stops GIFs, not MP4 and other videos on Facebook, etc. that look like (or are even advertised as) GIFs.

I'd much prefer to be able to toggle animations on and off just using the ESC key, but this extension will have to do as other extensions promising to stop animations are not reliable. When I am reading comments at zerohedge.com and a commenter has an animating avatar, very distracting.
