- (2019-08-26) Kyle Dillon: Seems to be non functional as of Aug 26th 2019. Doesn't seem to be detecting that I am on a slack channel anymore. Perhaps slack has changed how it codes the information over to the browser. Is this problem being experienced by others? Being worked on?
- (2018-08-01) Dano Sanchez: It worked well on my Apple in Chrome. Great and immediate customer service after I forgot/didn't realize it was necessary to cancel the subscription after the first year.
- (2018-02-02) Marketing D'Youville: Between activating the Export app in Slack and purchasing the admin version of this Chrome app, I was able to completely reconfigure Slack for my team in preparation to add a new group of users. Export was used to export messages from public, private and DM channels by date range. Then Slack's import for text/CSV was used. I combined my small team's messages from multiple channels into new channels, with older messages going directly to yearly archive channels. Note, you will lose file and link previews by doing CSV export/import but file links will still work. To me, this was not an issue because previews take up a lot of space and can be distracting. The paid version of Chrome Message Deleter for Slack app was then used to clean out all of the old channels. It works at a slow pace, only deleting one message at a time but it's still far better than doing it by hand! The only issue I had was the app quitting when it encountered threaded messages. Threaded messages need to be deleted manually, then just restart the Message Deleter app. Fortunately, we haven't used threaded messaging too much since it was introduced in January 2017. I was able to completely empty our #general channel with about 17k messages (we have a paid instance) but it took several hours. Lastly, if you're doing a complete reorganization of your Slack instance like I did, you'll definitely want to map out what goes where before you get started and keep track of which channels you want to clean out after exporting. Feel free to message me for more info about my process. Two improvements I'd like to see for this app: The ability to delete threaded messages and to delete messages by date range. Or, at the very least, put in a date the app should stop on.
- (2018-01-21) jay E: This does exactly what is says. No issues with this at all. The only thing that is a bit odd is that it doesnt delete sub messages that are threaded on a single message. I looked past this though as it saved me tons of time in the long run! great product!
- (2017-09-18) Edouard Vallet: Hi, it doesn't delete conversations in threads. Could you add this feature ? Most conversations happen in thread so that's a lot to delete.

Hello Peta, We just purchased the admin version of the slack deleter, and need to delete certain channels and direct message conversations immediately (deadline is Monday morning of next week, 8/12).
