Custom Colour for Weekends in Google Calendar
>>>>>>>>> Important NOTE!!! <<<<<<<<<<<
If it doesn't work, before giving a low rating contact me via the Assistance Channel or via Mail: I will work with you to solve the issue!
>>>>>>>>>>>>> DONATE! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
If you LIKE THIS EXTENSION, please consider a DONATION (LINK is in OPTIONS PAGE or you find it if you RIGHT CLICK over extension icon!). A coffee will be just fine! :D
>>>>>>>>>>>>> LET'S GO DARK! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Works with Calendar's DARK MODE too! The extension AUTOMATICALLY detects dark mode and renders in a dark fashion the colours you chose! Yay! :)
Choose custom colours FOR EACH of your week's days! Those days will be coloured with your custom background colours, finally highlighting your week in ALL the "views" of the NEW version of Google Calendar web pages (2018 and further)! If you prefer NOT to highlight a day, simply leave it WHITE.
At first install, you will be automatically redirected to options page, where you will have to choose your Google Calendar's page language (MANDATORY), and the colours for all your days. In OPTIONS page you can now donate me a coffee, too! :)
NOTE: sometimes while working it could stop highlighting the weekend columns; in that case, try to click on an empty space on the calendar or press F5 (refresh page) and the weekend columns will be correctly light up again!

- (2023-08-21) David: works as supposed. as mentioned you need to move one view further and back to get it applied to the current view.
- (2023-04-26) Julien BERTAULT: Works fine, minus Google Calendar refresh bug (just jump to another week/month) and it will show.
- (2023-04-10) Works great! I only have one problem, but it's my fault (lack of knowledge): I can't find how to get to the settings to make a change. The only solution I found is to remove it, install it again and then the configuration page appears automatically. Excuse my ignorance! But it's just what I was looking for!
- (2023-02-10) lee marco: sorry, but it doesn't work for me too. I tried to clean the cache and cookies, and reinstall again and again. Well, finally I GIVE IT UP NOW........
- (2022-12-01) Steven Harriss: I just can't seem to get it to work - I've changed the settings to every combination I can think of but nothing ever changes on the calendar - a complete waste of time. I really can't think what I'm doing wrong as there isn't much to configure.
- (2022-11-09) Chris A.: Just what I was looking for! Thanks
- (2022-11-06) Aykut Türker: Just what I was looking for. Simple and does the job. Thank you!
- (2022-09-09) Heather Firth: Sorry doesn't work for me, I added it and set the language and days and refreshed but doesn't seem to work any longer. 😢
- (2022-02-08) Martin Voorsmit: Not working in Vivaldi - too bad - I would like to use it
- (2021-12-22) Steve Dormaar: This extension has worked great for me. Thank you.
- (2021-12-19) Amitab Sood: Thank you for this extension! I have problem though. The extension keeps forgetting the settings for Language and Weekenddays and thus will not show Weekends in the calender. Right after installation it did work and also on some rare occasions it shows up, but then it forgets it again. When I set the settings again on optionspage and then close and open the optionspage it has forgotten the settings already, most of the times. I can not figure out the pattern, when and when not it will work. Deleting and reinstalling did not solve the problem. I have about 10 other (productivity) extensions, and never have any proplems there. Do you have any Ideas, what I could try?
- (2021-04-26) Dottie Bowles: I've only started using this extension and I just love it! It works seamlessly and is very useful! I would love to be able to choose a color for any of the days, or each day, like if you could have each day of the week have a color selector. For my case specifically; I would want the weekends and Wednesday to all have the ability to change color. Although I'm sure others would also love to be able to set any color to any day. -- Such a useful extension! :)
- (2020-11-03) Lucia Di Noi: Perfetta! Proprio quello che cercavo!
- (2020-10-14) Aleksey Sereda: Thanks a lot. It's cool
- (2019-10-18) Stefania Nucifora: Perfect! Thank you for this extension!
- (2019-09-06) Guy Marais: This is pretty convenient, but it could be very much improved by being able to see Sat/Sun in a customised view. I use the calendar showing the next 7 days, and I'd find it extremely useful if the weekends could also show. In this case, I'd definitely give it a 5-star rating. Think about it for the next update. Thanks! Edit: It works now: 5-star! Excellent job!
- (2019-09-05) Yaab (Amir Yabo): Used to work fine. Starting from new update (Sep 2019) week and month views are handled ok, while customized view (2 weeks in my case) don't show weekend colors.
- (2019-07-23) Robert Andrews: This is great, very useful. Has even got me thinking about a few enhancements... - Colour-picker. - How about colour-coding other days? In fact, how about colour-blocking particular time windows *within* days? - eg. 9am-5pm is a work zone and, therefore, red.
- (2019-01-14) Steph H.: Really need the extension to allow us to identify weekend days. My week starts on Sunday out of preference, which makes the "weekend" colors appear on Friday and Saturday in error. While this might be applicable to users in Israel, for example, where Friday is not a workday, having the ability to indicate which dates are our personal weekend would be very useful. Would also be applicable to people who work non-traditional schedules and have their days off mid-week.
- (2019-01-03) Gabriel Bessa: I have my week starting with Sunday. The extension colors Friday and Saturday instead of Sat/Sun.
- (2018-12-11) 살랑살랑: 윈10 크롬에서 먹통 ㅠ
- (2018-11-09) Rob Ranney: I like the hidden daily hours feature and coloring the weekends in Week and Month views. Bug Report: When switching from Month View to Week View, the weekend color doesn't populate until you click on the calendar somewhere. (the extension needs an interaction input to activate the weekend color in this instance)
- (2018-11-02) Filip Fauconnier: not working
- (2018-04-25) Glenn F: Bug report: I have my week starting with Sunday. The extension colors Friday and Saturday instead of Sat/Sun.
- (2018-03-08) Luke Tickner: Works with the new calendar. Thanks! (how is this still not a feature of standart gc??)
