Description from extension meta

Backspace no longer leaves the page you're on. Alt and left arrow will still work.

Description from store Prevents backspace from leaving a page without confirmation. Prevent frustrating loss of form data when the keyboard focus is mistakenly not in an input field. Note: doesn't work in chrome webstore or config pages as extensions are disabled there.

  • (2016-08-24) Ynnek Thennek: Doesn't work as of August 23, 2016. It stopped working on a lot of pages a few months ago. Now it works on none at all. Trash.
  • (2016-07-29) não funciona
  • (2016-07-08) Ashton: It works sometimes, but I still get sent backwards a page when accidentally pressing backspace.
  • (2016-07-03) Eric Brunson: Doesn't work.
  • (2016-06-27) Mitchell Barker: I am not able to use backspace in any text field without auutomatically going back to the precivious page. hensce the mistakes grrrrrrrrrrr! FIXED IT! Turned out all I had to do was restart my computer and it went back to normal. If that didn't work, my next step would have been to uninstall and reinstall Chrome.
  • (2016-06-09) Patrick Kennedy: works in the address bar...that's about it.
  • (2016-05-23) Dylan Evans: Doesn't work on 50.0x
  • (2016-04-03) Brandon Banas: Only works on pages like Wikis where there's no large search box that the page automatically puts your cursor into once the page loads; when on pages like a Google search page, it works in the sense that no matter where you click (out of the search bar) it goes instantly back to search bar and deletes character and that's it. I'm mainly concerned that this doesn't work on pages that are completely consisted of HTML5 of Flash. So if you're doing some work (where there's no text box) in an HTML5 app, hitting backspace will just do what we don't want it to do, go back, no prompt or anything. Use for your own agenda I suppose.
  • (2016-01-05) Paull Santos: does not work at all press backspace and it tries to make the browser go back a page, it is set up correct just fails to function
  • (2015-11-24) David Debreczeni: simply does not work for me, tried restarting chrome, but no effect whatsoever
  • (2015-11-03) John M: Wonderful! Gives me a prompt (which I'd rather it not do, but it's fine this way) and I'm hoping I'll never have that terrible problem again!
  • (2015-09-20) Rew Howe: I can confirm it sort of works on Chrome (Mac) version 45.0.2454.93 (64-bit). It only works if the page is fully loaded and only works on actual navigation (so, in-page screen changes can still go backwards). Like another reviewer said, it creates a prompt when you press backspace (outside of text boxes) which blocks you from doing anything (perfect for me, since I ONLY use backspace for text). EDIT: after a bit more testing, it only sometimes creates a pop-up. I'm not sure what the criteria is, but in any case, it gets the job done.
  • (2015-09-16) AgentCueBall: I loved it, but now it seems that Google broke the extension, again ... thanks a lot, Google ...
  • (2015-08-02) Iwan Gabovitch: Doesn't work while page is loading.
  • (2015-07-10) Well it works, in a way. At least hitting the backspace key doesn't instantly blow away what you were working on, it brings up a dialog box so you can kill the action.
