  • (2025-07-01) Vincent Huisman: Not working anymore.
  • (2025-06-19) Jesse Thornburg: Stop working after the latest version release. Google please test your products before releasing!
  • (2025-06-10) Mark Dino Pelonia: It stopped working after my Chrome updated to version 137.0.7151.55. It was still functioning properly on version 136.0.7103.113.
  • (2025-05-13) Q: I have just started Tag Assistant , And so far I have found it very easy to set up!
  • (2025-05-07) MD Nafis Sadik: good one
  • (2025-05-06) Signal: Beautiful
  • (2025-05-06) Ali Alsalti: Google Tag Assistant is extremely buggy and unreliable. It often behaves inconsistently—sometimes tags are installed correctly, but it still reports that no tags are present. Please consider copying Meta Pixel Helper or TikTok Pixel Helper, which are much easier to use and significantly less buggy.
  • (2025-05-02) Aleyna Doruk: It has not been working properly for two weeks. I've tried to fix it, but it doesn't help. We've also tried it on two different computers. Please fix this issue.
  • (2025-04-28) rofik al islam: It was previously all ok. But now though we have GTM, GA4 tags in the website, after refreshing the web page this tag assistant shows there is no tag found. You guys really made this worser than before. Who told you to change it? Now it's not working as expected. And also i am sure you don't care
  • (2025-04-17) Andrew Konken: Thank you for bringing this back from deprecation. It's even better than it was.
  • (2025-04-15) Shawn Walker: Doesn't work as expected. When auditing a conversion assigned to a form submit -- let's say -- most times, a webpage refreshes/redirects, but the tag assistant does not persist conversion data, meaning, the conversion may flash on the screen, but then quickly disappears. Data would need to be cached/persisted to maintain the conversion tag when/while using the tag assistant. Otherwise, in most cases, it will be impossible to use. In its current state, it's only useful when a conversion happens when there is no redirect or page refresh.
  • (2025-04-14) CHRISTOPHER YOUNG: Efficient
  • (2025-04-11) Arbab Haider: Excellent.
  • (2025-04-03) Maria Busse: Still seems to be broken
  • (2025-03-17) Richard Tank: seems to be broken
  • (2025-03-13) Jannette Pazer: Until Tag Assistant was updated, I had no problems in Preview mode for Google Tag Manager. With Tag Assistant enabled, Preview mode cannot start. It only works if I disable Tag Assistant, yet GTM Preview mode shows the message "For an improved debugging experience for untagged pages, install the Tag Assistant browser extension." Please fix this!
  • (2025-02-21) Brian Jones: WHY DID YOU UPDATE THIS???? It was soo good before. We already have your "modern" tag assistant extension. The legacy version is for the people who just want quick and accurate data, without the gimmicks and extra steps.
  • (2025-02-20) Jamie Lincoln: Completely worthless now. New UI absolutely sucks and it's so buggy now. Most of the time when you click it open, it comes up with 'No Tags Found' and then you click it again and lo and behold, there are the tags. You "saved it" or brought it back worse than ever, Google.
  • (2025-02-20) Maria Del Mar Valenzuela: If I could give zero stars, I would. The new version is completely useless compared to the old one, which was much more helpful and detailed when checking tags. This update feels like a downgrade and has significantly reduced its usefulness. please revert to old version!
  • (2025-02-18) Steve Lane: This update is objectively worse since functionality from the original Tag Assistant (tag recording, being able to see Google Ads tags, etc) has been removed. This one is also significantly slower and buggier, since I now often have to refresh the page in order for it to detect anything, and instead of instantly detecting anything, I also now have to wait for the extension to check. Bring back all the old, actually useful functionality instead of whatever this has become now. Nobody wanted this.
  • (2025-01-21) Simon Reuvers: We used to debug pages with an GTM in the iframe and another in the parent with the (deprecated) plugin enabled. For debugging we just opened the parent page and both GTMs showed up pefectly fine. With the recent update, this is gone and is making my work almost impossible at the moment. The deprecated plugin versions worked just great. Please have a look at this: Update (22.01.25): There might be a workaround: https://support.google.com/tagmanager/thread/318953291/preview-debugging-setup-with-directly-embeed-and-iframe-tag-assistant-extension?hl=en&sjid=16692549679273677765-EU
  • (2025-01-17) Oleg Vorobiov - ACV: The last 2 updates broke the functionality of a perfect tool that I've been using for many years. Since Tag Assistant was updated in late December 2024, I lost the ability to see SPA pages developed in vue.js in Google Tag Manager's Preview Mode. Please revert to the old version and stop breaking things, Google. We are trying to do some work here while you are breaking our tools and taking away functionality.
  • (2025-01-17) Fahad Hasan: New update is worthless, please bring back the old version which worked perfectly!
  • (2025-01-15) Gordon McCallum: this new version is worthless. Please read all these recent reviews and bring back the extension that had value.
  • (2025-01-14) David Adams: The old version was extremely helpful when it came to identifying specific Google Ad, Floodlights, etc. The new version is completely useless. It doesn't maintain any of the useful features of the original. Can you just bring the old version back?
  • (2025-01-14) David Reichenbach: What they promise in the description ("This advanced tool allows you to debug your website, including iframes, within a single session, providing detailed diagnostics to help you validate, diagnose, and resolve your implementation.") is not true anymore, unfortunately. This Tag Assistant plugin is not working anymore since the recent update. We'd been using it to debug our websites that had two GTM containers (one embedded directly, one via iframe). Now this plugin fails to identify any GTM and claims there is none which makes it impossible to debug . This needs to be fixed.
  • (2025-01-14) Jacky Wong: How to use, i have no idea. Already adding the gtag on the project but never saw this tool able to detect the tag. Even i type 'gtag' on the console it did return me the gtag functions.
  • (2025-01-13) Hoster Cube: Bad UI/UX, Old is gold.
  • (2025-01-10) Bob Brown: Broken, broken, broken. Downloaded the new Tag Assistant Companion plugin after this plugin was considered "deprecated," and found that the new Tag Assistant Companion plugin would constantly fail to identify GTMs properly, even though the old deprecated plugin worked just fine. Now it looks like Google had the bright idea to combine the plugins (can't imagine why, the feedback for the new plugin was so great!) and in the process, broke the old plugin as well. Now Google has two official plugins that don't work worth a damn. Claims there's no GTM present, however, inspecting the code on the website and looking in our Google Tag Manager shows that the tag is present and firing. Nice job, Google!
  • (2025-01-10) Fulin Xie (Tina): Hard to use. I can't connect now
  • (2025-01-09) Tim Dekker: New update is worthless, please bring back the old version which worked perfectly!
  • (2025-01-08) Darren Z: What is the use of the new version? I need to see the details of my installation code. This new version is useless. Please switch back to the old version.
  • (2025-01-07) Kaity Griffin: Please revert to the old version, the new version isn't compatible with Shopify, and is useless compared to the old version.
  • (2025-01-07) Jonathan Thibert: The new version is useless, please revert to old version !
  • (2025-01-07) Marian Semik: After update not working in Opera Browser... It's nice that the plugin is back, but Opera doesn't have a sidebar which won't open.
  • (2025-01-06) Luke Hickman: Why have you updated the tool, the old version worked fine LOL. Standard Google of updating stuff that doesnt needs updating!
  • (2025-01-04) Webdatasolve: This update is completely rubbish, please revert to old version!!!
  • (2025-01-04) Roy Lam: This update is completely rubbish, please revert to old version!!!
  • (2025-01-03) Jesse Cleave: Buggy as now, please revert or do better.
  • (2024-12-31) Mark Brown: WHY ruin this excellent tool? Even though it was 'deprecated' it still served its purpose quickly and easily to determine Google tags and conversions firing on the page. This reworked version makes you jump through hoops to find what was immediately available in the original version like the Google Ads conversion label. Bring back the original please! If I wanted to run the GTM debug window I already had access to it. With the reworked tool it's now easier to search for the conversion in Chrome dev tools, which negates the purpose of having the once handy Tag Assistant extension. No reason to force a side panel when the dropdown window gave more information in the first place.
  • (2024-12-29) Derrick Shields: It's cool that Google has "undeprecated" this Tag Assistant extension, because let's be honest - every digital marketing professional still used this extension every day. However, this really a brand-new tool with a modernized UI that's completely handicapped and directs you into what is effectively the GTM preview tool, and overly complicated when we might just want a quick at-a-glance tags that were firing, just like before.
  • (2024-12-28) SEO ORB Marketing: Please note, the deprecated extension was much more helpful and this new update has absolutely butchered its functionality while being more faulty now than ever. Please revert it back if you can.
  • (2024-08-14) Flow States Collective: This is/was such a great tool! The new assistant isn't as helpful and somewhat time consuming.
  • (2024-07-29) Dave Panfili: Is anyone else noticing that the GA4 Measurement ID's starting with G- are being flagged by this plugin as Universal Analytics code? Looks like data is streaming fine into Google Analytics.
  • (2024-07-17) Golu Yadav: nice
  • (2024-02-23) Subho Manna: For anyone wondering, their official alternative is Tag Assistant Companion
  • (2024-02-20) Assaf Trafikant: I'm inviting you all to try this one instead - https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/analyticsgtmpixel-debugge/canpneabbfipaelecfibpmmjbdkiaolf
  • (2024-02-11) Shamima Sultana Suvra: Please give its alternative...
  • (2024-02-09) John K Higginson: Use this daily, don't understand why they would deprecate such a helpful + simple tool
  • (2024-01-23) Marvin Macatol: I don't understand why this very useful tool is deprecated. I use this everyday! Losing it is like losing a limb, figuratively speaking. So, what replaces this now? Please advise.
