Enable or disable JavaScript without the hassle.

Image from store Toggle JavaScript
Description from store Toggle JavaScript provides a simple, easy-to-access browser button to enable or disable JavaScript globally. It was built with web developers in mind, but is equally useful for anyone who wants to quickly enable/disable JavaScript without having to dig deep into Chrome's Settings panel. Features: - global JavaScript master switch - reloads when toggling to ensure accurate rendering (optional since v1.3) More Info: There are similar extensions that enable or disable JavaScript per-domain, but I find this over-complicated so I decided to build a JavaScript "master switch". Also, similar extensions can cause pages to be rendered inaccurately after disabling JavaScript. This extension uses an auto-reload technique to ensure that pages are always rendered correctly after switching JavaScript on or off. I hope you enjoy using it - if you do, please tell your friends about it and help me out by giving it a positive review. Thanks!

  • (2023-09-14) Lexi: Works very well and is much easier than going to site permissions manually, would reccomend to anyone
  • (2023-08-02) Valued Team Member: ShOcK & AWE outstanding... not only does it disable the Krap in ~90% of the web pages, it remembers your previous web pages choices. You don't have to keep turning it ON or OFF... When you leave a know bad/AD page it turns off. Go back, it turns ON. It remembers past settings. The only pages (~10%) that it can't control are the sites that don't use Java, I'm guessing. But for most, it's pure heaven. Thank you Toggle Java. You RoCk. The check is in the mail.

  • (2023-05-06) Throat Warbler Mangrove: Installed, worked great. Now clicking it to turn off JS, nothing happens. Found that disabling and re-enabling brings back toggling.

  • (2022-02-10) Andre D: Couldn't be more simple. For a few years, I had the disable javascript tab bookmarked in my tabs page to get to is easily. This was still a little annoying as it took a solid 5 SECONDS to disable and refresh the page. Now I can instantly disable and refresh at the same time without opening any more tabs
  • (2021-11-20) Kenilson martins: Ele funciona, porém o usuario deve ativa-lo na pagina. aqui deu super certo, agora posso ler minhas noticias.

  • (2021-10-18) Áliston Diniz: Não funciona, o próprio chrome bloqueia
  • (2021-08-31) Jim Schwartz: works great. please consider to improve the extension my changing the enabled color in the icon from dark green to light green so that it is easier to see that java script is enabled. the current red color for the java script is disabled is easy to see.
  • (2021-05-03) John Lewis: Excellent! Simple but effective.
  • (2021-02-04) Dimas Gomez: It is helpful as it is, but it messes with my previous permissions and bugs the default Chrome dialog screen, not allowing my finetuned allowed domains without turning it on). I'd like to be able to use them, without toggling it on.
  • (2021-01-05) Douglas Pio: Simplesmente funciona.

  • (2020-07-17) Karla Somogyi: Very usefull
  • (2020-04-04) Merrit: So handy when you just want to read a page and not have all the videos playing to distract you. click once and it's on while automatically reloading the page. Much faster than having to open the advanced settings page and switch back and forth between it and my image settings. I used to just leave a tab open all the time with access to the JavaScript, but this is much better!
  • (2020-01-30) Kamel Stamzender: j'aime trop
  • (2019-06-23) Barry Levine: Nice extension. Pretty much works as advertised. Only bug I see is the toolbar icon showing the switch in the position opposite what's actually set. Looks like the developer is using the black area to indicate the position of the switch but that's actually the background if you look at a real (physical world) switch).
  • (2019-01-26) Marco Lerius Bautista Cordova: >It works. >Simple & effective Could be nice to also have "per-site" settings.
  • (2019-01-21) Sven Baumann: Für mich der beste Java Script Switch im Chrome Store!
  • (2018-12-10) Marcos Ribeiro: Very simple and very good extension. Important: Allow us to choose between auto page reload or not when toggling JS. 2 Suggestions : 1) To show more openly the current state, enabled or disabled, maybe also toggling the JS letters on the button to red when disabled. (My eyes are not so good as they where... snif.) 2) It would also be good if the extention had a configuration option to allow us to set a keyboard shortkey (selected by us) to toggle JS enable/disabled. I was able to set one using AutoHotKey, but it took me some time to make it. Thank you, dsmith, for your already very good extension and for sharing it with us.
  • (2018-11-22) Artur Sampaio: Missing only a "per tab" option.
  • (2018-08-08) Patrick Gomes: Muito bom. Parabéns
  • (2018-07-30) Roadside Table: Disabling JS works great to temporarily get rid of add blocker nag screens and *some* pay walls. Of course you would want to toggle it as a lot of stuff won't work right and this switch makes it super easy to do that. I like how there is an icon in the address bar now to alert you when JS is off. From prior reviews it sounds like that wasn't always there. Case in point, I was entering this review and the publish button was greyed out. The icon alerted me and switched it back and now I can click the publish button. Whats up with the permissions though? Do you really need to control my microphone and see my browser history? Now to find a CSS toggle switch.
  • (2018-07-14) Xander Luciano: Such a helpful function for testing a SPA with server side rendering (SSR)! Able to just quickly and easily toggle javascript on and off with a single click, and the page I'm currently developing on will switch between showing just SSR content or the full SPA with client side JS. Just wish there was an option to enable/disable on a per tab or per domain basis. I've accidentally left JS disabled when opening a new tab to search for something and forgot I had JS disabled. It's not a big deal because I can just use a second chrome profile where JS is disabled, but being able to just toggle on a single tab or single domain would make this 5 stars in my opinion. Would also help if the icon changed slightly more so it was easily noticeable (yellow = disabled, blue = enabled maybe?) On a 4K screen it's just difficult to see the icon state at a glance.
  • (2018-05-27) Levi Germano: It works very well!!!
