== How Speechify works ==
• Speechify scans your active tab in your browser and, in real time, converts the content to a most human-sounding voice.
• Works beautifully with Gmail, Google docs, Word docs, PDFs, Twitter, Wikipedia entries, blogs, news publications, and every web page you visit. It’s perfect for school, work, e-learning, learning a second language, and casual reading.
• You can take a picture of any text and import it into the app to read aloud.
With over 130+ voices to choose from across various languages, you can find the perfect one you love. Some voices are very recognizable. Mr. President, for instance, or even the officially licensed Gwyneth Paltrow voice, is one of our users’ favorites.

- (2024-10-07) Carissa: The extension is easy to use, and makes reading so much more accessible to my ADHD brain. Premium version is offered by my university, and it has changed my life as a college student! Thank you!!
- (2024-09-16) Morgan Zhang: Updated on 2024: For those whose extension does not work, try to update chrome browser and reinstall the extension. I have solved my problem, hope my tip could help. I hope there were a monthly subcription plan instead of 12 months payment per year.
- (2024-09-13) Hadar Weitzman: **Update September 12, 2024. I am still using the Chrome extension and mainly the AI enhanced voices which Speechify has developed recently. These AI voices sound very real, and easy to listen, just like a natural person. I specifically like the "Erica" voice. (but you may like others). ** My original review was (from 2018): I am amazed how they fixed many bugs and improved the Chrome extension. I am using it all the time now. Simply love this app. English is my second language, so for me it's much easier and faster to listen with this app then reading, especially when I am tired (even when it's just a fb post - when it's longer than one paragraph). I've also improved my speed in listening thanks to this app. Recommended!!
- (2024-07-12) Sparktite (Beau): This app at first is pretty good. The voices are good and theres a lot of control over the voice. However, it only took about 5-15 mins before it stopped reading any text whatsoever because it wanted me to create a login and use that. There is literally no reason to force me into making a login for this service when i already had it working, and it works without creating an account. Seems kinda scummy to be honest, i think im just gonna go back to read aloud and or TTS for Google extensions. UPDATE/EDIT - UPDATE/EDIT - UPDATE/EDIT - UPDATE/EDIT: I found that i was willing to use a google sign in option to basically make a throw away account since my last review. I was actually semi content because the voices were great and while it was probably more taxing than my other TTS extension to use have running on a billion tabs, it sounded so much nicer that i got rid of my old one. Very soon after i found out i was being limited down to the basic microsoft sam style voices even though i was having all the other settings default and not using any features at all. I was then cut off from using the app to have a voice remind me that i cant use the nice voices unless i pay for a subscription. Because for some reason that makes sense rather than me just saying that this app is terrible, a complete waste of time, and left me worse off than i had i just not wasted my time with it and kept using the app i already liked before. Its okay though because soon enough all of this will be pretty old and phased out. Well start seeing more competition for actually usable apps potentially with adverts however that will be 100X better than what this extension currently has to offer. I cant wait to see this app fall into obscurity. Again to drive the point home. I would give this an app 0 or negative stars were it possible, and i am surprised to find that the app was somehow worse than i expected and thought it was when i left my initial 1 star dont waste your time herte review lol.
- (2024-06-05) Davina Smith: STEALING DATA No reason it needs to be reading and using my chrome history.
- (2024-05-17) Mike Shaunessy: Am in my 2nd year using. The best text to speech out there. Use it every day. Adapts well to different online uses. Good customer support too. Recommend.
- (2024-04-02) pabbi prem: Voices chosen for Hindi are quite incompetent , HORRIBLE..!!! If not possible to make proper delivery then better Hindi be removed from your Language List.
- (2024-03-19) M Choi: I like the screen shot button. It helps me to focus on listening while reading a paragraph or two instead of a whole page. Whoever made an idea for a screen shot button is a game changer.
- (2024-03-12) Jacklez: This extension saved me for school and I managed to increase my grades drastically because of it. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't like reading and would prefer to listen such as myself.
- (2024-02-02) Jeffrey Miller: Why did you get rid of the skip sentence buttons? I don't want to be forced to hear headlines, captions and other junk! Please bring back the skip sentence buttons or I just can't use your product anymore. Edit: You brought the skip buttons back which was great, but you took them away again! Clicking on the sentence doesn't work nearly as well as the skip buttons. On some sites it'll jump to the top of the page suddenly or the sentences will have a very small clickable area. Please, please, bring back the skip buttons. I'm sorry skip buttons don't achieve the UI look you're trying to achieve, but I won't pay for something that has actively made it's product worse. 2-1-2024: Why the heck do you keep removing the skip sentence button? I don't even want to read articles now. Like, is it because you think skip buttons look lame or is there some financial decision that leads you to make the user experience so much worse?

- (2024-01-28) Nicholas T Stine: I developed some pretty strong learning challenges in the last 7 years, making a major deviation from my 40+ year learning style. - (2024-01-13) YEETS PRODUCTION: Severely ADHD and absolutely love this program. Helped me through so much learning in much efficient manner, without having to decipher what letters and alphabets juxtaposed right next to each other could spell out or mean.
- (2024-01-13) Mikey Howell: For an auditory learner and/or anyone with reading comprehension issues, this is a game changer! The voice can be a little difficult to follow, it sounds robotic as opposed to fluid and human, but I think the value of this program far outweighs that small issue. It has saved me hours of time and extended trouble comprehending content by reading my college books and assignments to me.
