In many projects credentials pass through validation step, which essentially is listening events for input. In such case $(usernameNode[0]).val(request.username) doesn't trigger validation, and controls may be still invalid. It is common problem with Angular/React applications. I suggest you to replace direct dom prop injection by emitting 'input' event to simulate real users input.
