  • (2025-05-07) ChaCha F.: It works (automatically tiles the windows based on how many individual windows you have open). However, you can't resize the windows by simply dragging the sides; you have to use a keyboard shortcut. Likewise you have to use keyboard shortcuts to change the layout of the windows (e.g. moving the focused window one window clockwise). From what I can see, I can't change the actual grid (for instance, I want three windows side-by-by-side horizontally). It's nice if you don't mind using keyboard shortcuts, but I'd rather be able to just drag things around and not have to remember a ton of keyboard shortcuts.
  • (2024-06-10) Gary Holt: This works great--when it works. As others have noted, this isn't very useful until you configure the keyboard shortcuts. But once you do that, it's great--for a while. I don't understand what's different about my setup from everybody else who seems to have it working. For me, the extension worked fine until I log off, then on the next session, it somehow seems to be disabled (doesn't respond to keyboard commands or new window creation), even though it's definitely enabled according to its options. This is extremely frustrating, because when it works, it's really quite nice, better than the other tiling window manager extensions I've found so far.

  • (2023-05-15) haikuo lin: I advise you to turn on this flag: chrome://flags/#focus-follows-cursor I wish I could have some hotkey to maximize and minimize the focus windows, I also wish I could Drag to change window borders。

  • (2020-10-10) Reema Bennekaa: I was delighted with it until I tried and failed to get windows to switch positions with each other (I'm sure there's a way to do this with keyboard shortcuts that I just haven't figured out yet but dragging doesn't seem to do it) and then I created a virtual desktop and new Chrome windows in the virtual desktop kept tiling as if the windows on the other desktops were on the same screen. Support for virtual desktops? I did try to set up a keyboard shortcut to move windows clockwise, but then when I used it the windows just flickered and remained in their original positions.
  • (2020-02-20) Khalil Bey: This is truly great, though two small bits of feedback keep it from being fabulous: (*) Dragging the final tab of the window into another window often becomes tricky since the remaining windows will resize as the dragged tab attaches to the new window, only to separate again when the windows resize. One fix would be to avoid window resizing when the pointer is performing a drag. (*) docking to an external screen tends to be pain since there's no way to reevaluate screen geometry short of disabling and reenabling the extension. A keyboard shortcut binding to toggle the extension on and off would be extremely useful.

  • (2019-11-02) Srdjan Rosic: Works great ! when I remember what I need to press. (UX feedback): The keyboard shortcuts take a while getting used to, and me not being used to them makes it harder to start using the extension, which made me disable it at work where I usually have multiple displays and running into snags and friction is more likley and more frustrating. Any chance we can get an options menu to pop out with all the "commands" on a key shortcut (a chrome tile palette menu if you want to think about it that way) , will all the possible chrometile commands and their shortcuts listed?

  • (2019-06-21) Roberto Pablo Ríos Siliceo: For someone used to tiling windows managers (I use i3), this extensions is a must. It is Amazing! The setup is quite small, and it suggests keyboard shortcuts that will not conflict with other Chrome OS shortcuts. You do not need to set them all up, which is also convenient if you do not use all of them. And yes, it has shortcuts for changing focus, moving windows and switching what display the window is in! The layouts are predefined, but are quite convenient for my use (3 vertical windows). There are also shortcuts to modify the size of a screen, so you could modify the layouts to your liking. This is a solid extension and quite happy to find it for Chrome OS!

  • (2019-03-26) Mike Dinwiddie: Wonderful! There is a hefty learning curve, especially coming from something like i3, but man is this a nice WM! Best in store!

  • (2018-12-07) João Paulo Souza Soares: I've been looking for something like this for years, I used i3 for a time and never found a good replacement, I wasn't expecting to find it in ChromeOs.
