uBO Lite (uBOL) is an efficient MV3-based content blocker.
The default ruleset corresponds to uBlock Origin's default filterset:
- uBlock Origin's built-in filter lists
- EasyList
- EasyPrivacy
- Peter Lowe’s Ad and tracking server list
You can enable more rulesets by visiting the options page -- click the _Cogs_ icon in the popup panel.
uBOL is entirely declarative, meaning there is no need for a permanent uBOL process for the filtering to occur, and CSS/JS injection-based content filtering is performed reliably by the browser itself rather than by the extension. This means that uBOL itself does not consume CPU/memory resources while content blocking is ongoing -- uBOL's service worker process is required _only_ when you interact with the popup panel or the option pages.

- no longer working on a lot of websites. streaming is especially rough. i do understand ublock was basically sued into oblivion, but it would be nice if popups were actually blocked given that i have multiple redundant addons for that purpose.

- Running an old Win7 computer for reasons, which means Chrome 109 (again, for reasons). As of this week, UBO Lite apparently no longer supports verson 109. I can't even load older UBOL builds in developer mode as I get "cannot load manifest" (despite the fact it's been working perfectly fine until this week!). So UBOL suddenly no longer works on a legacy install and that REALLY SUCKS.

- I've been using this extension ever since google decided they didn't like adblockers and disabled ublock origin. It's very great at blocking pop-ups and ads and if you click the extension icon and go to this extension you can find a button that lets you remove any button, element, image, video and just about anything so you can even bypass some websites that force you to accept their cookies by just erasing the pop-up off the face of the earth.

- If you can't bring yourself to stop using Chrome, after they limited how Ad Blockers work, this is by far the best option. Honestly though, Edge is unironically better than Chrome in 2026. It uses the same Chromium engine, but it receives far more love from Microsoft than Google gives Chrome, and they don't limit Ad Blockers so you're not forced to use the Lite versions. If you don't mind a more significant change in browsers, give Firefox a try.

- Basic mode: Allows YouTube ads Optimal mode: YouTube detected it & delayed playback Complete mode: YouTube detected it & delayed playback even longer. Either Ad-blockers suck at blocking ads, or Google is spying on installed software & plug-ins.

- I didn't have a persistent need for adblock until one of the sites I frequent started loading full HD videos in place of static banners, basically eating all my traffic. With basic filtering enabled, I still see normal ads, but none of those abominations ever since. Will keep updated.
