uBlock Origin Lite
Extension Actions
- Extension status: Featured
An efficient content blocker. Blocks ads, trackers, miners, and more immediately upon installation.
uBO Lite (uBOL) is an MV3-based content blocker.
The default ruleset corresponds to uBlock Origin's default filterset:
- uBlock Origin's built-in filter lists
- EasyList
- EasyPrivacy
- Peter Lowe’s Ad and tracking server list
You can enable more rulesets by visiting the options page -- click the _Cogs_ icon in the popup panel.
uBOL is entirely declarative, meaning there is no need for a permanent uBOL process for the filtering to occur, and CSS/JS injection-based content filtering is performed reliably by the browser itself rather than by the extension. This means that uBOL itself does not consume CPU/memory resources while content blocking is ongoing -- uBOL's service worker process is required _only_ when you interact with the popup panel or the option pages.

- Absolutely one of the best Chrome adblockers out there right now, and yes it does still work with YouTube. Very useful because YT ads have become so oppressive that they have active window enforcement, so if you try to mute and alt tab it will literally pause the ad until you tab back in. This extension is a one click solution to all those problems.

- After I got a chrome update (today 19 february 2026) this no longer works on twitch. Constant ads passing by now. Either twitch went back to crack on adblocks or chrome update killed something.

- On every computer I have, every web browser I use (and I use the major ones, I'm a software engineer), the first thing I do is I add Ublock Origin. It is an essential to browsing any website these days. To add to my praise of how much I use this, I also added this extension to my parents and other relatives' browsers. I find it perplexing to see them navigate to a website and be bombarded by floating videos auto playing - how do they tolerate this?? UBlock is absolutely essential.

- Absolutely amazing, only issue I have had is blocks the youtube prompt "This video includes topics of self harm or suicide" (Kill Counts by Dead Meat) on the "optimal" setting.

- This is a lifesaver in this age of the enshittyfication of every platform with ads

- Coming here to report what others have said - no longer working on YouTube. You have to refresh once, which is okay for longer videos, but if you're like me and use playlists for music or whatever, it's annoying. The troubleshooting recommended on the uBlock Origin subreddit doesn't work either. Good ol' Google - if this isn't fixed soon I might actually move to Firefox.

- It stills work on YouTube, just need to reload the page again manually. F5 is best, though it is bit annoying to do every time
- Ferdinand Hoischen
- It's an effective and good ad blocker. But it no longer works properly on YouTube. As long as uBlock is enabled, YouTube doesn't load the videos, but instead displays a message that the video is unavailable.

- The best absolute best ad-blocker.
- José Miguel
- It's not as good as uBlock Origin, but it works; it tends to have problems blocking pop-ups in some web video players, as it blocks them with a warning but you have to close them every time they appear.

- No longer working.

- Incredibly tired of this ad blocker that is seemingly constantly popping up ads on my screen for adblock premium. Absolutely ridiculous. I'll be finding a new solution.

- Thank you, Devs. F you, google.

- OK for some uses but not to remove or block a specific domain from ever being shown in the results of a webpage. For instance, if you get a specific entry on a google search result (like something from nytimes.com) you can select it and have it removed each time... the trouble is that it would work only for that specific item on the page. If the html code for it will change or it's being produced by another search (for which a nytimes.com result is available) you will end up seeing that entry because it's not an exact match to whatever filter you originally created in UBO. Therefore for similar more advanced uses is quite unhelpful and useless.

- Best.

- Works well just as intended, one downside , if the devs could add it to the context menu "right-click" like "non-lite" version.

- Indeed, it's "Lite." A pathetic imitation of a fully functional version for Mozilla Firefox. Damn Google and its Manifest V3!

- If you get the "This content isn't available, try again later." problem on youtube, try disabling the experimental filter "uBlock filters – Experimental"
