Prints useful information to the JavaScript console by enabling the debug version of the Google Analytics Javascript.
This extension loads the debug version of the Google Analytics Javascript for all sites you browse using Google Chrome. It prints useful information to the Javascript console. These messages include error messages and warnings which can tell you when your analytics tracking code is set up incorrectly. In addition, it provides a detailed breakdown of each tracking beacon sent to Google Analytics.
To use this extension, You need to follow three steps:
1. Turn it on by clicking its icon to the right of the address bar.
2. Open the Chrome Javascript console to see the messages.
On Windows and Linux, press Control-Shift-J.

- (2023-06-14) Matthew Gregory: Trying to filter developer traffic in GA4. Have the data filter setup in GA4 correctly but not sure how to enable debug mode. Supposedly this should do it, but don't think it's working. Didn't have high expectations since this was updated back in 2019.
- (2023-04-05) John Egan: Seems to work, even though Google hasn't touched it in 3.5 years. And, I was not able to find any documentation on how to properly use this or interpret the results. Google is one of the wealthiest companies on the planet, yet they can't find their way to hire a small team to maintain and document this tool? Typical Google Greed.
- (2023-03-11) Eduardo Mota: It used to work perfectly with the previous version but now, with GA4 doesn't work anymore.
- (2022-12-16) Adrianne Gosselin: As of today this is the extension Google recommends we use to Debug GA4 events. Works great!
- (2022-08-24) TJ Claridge: Sadly I can't use this because we apparently have 5,000 "Debug devices" with similar names. Until they fix this... it is useless and we can't validate any tracking. How did they miss this?
- (2022-07-15) Vladyslav Rakhmanin (Владислав Рахманин): Перестало сегодня работать
- (2022-06-24) Radley Sustaire: Nothing happens, nothing in console. Icon says ON. No settings? Not sure what its even supposed to do. All the preview screenshots are super blurry.
- (2022-05-27) Robot Yang: not working, dont know why.
- (2022-03-31) Yannik Ehrhardt: This just saved us hours of more troubleshooting, thank you!
- (2021-09-27) Duc Nguyen: My trackingId is G-XXXXXXXXXX , I get this in browser console "The tracking Id should only be of the format UA-NNNNNN-N." I think this plugin should be updated with the new trackingId format

- (2019-07-28) Jonah Snider: Helped me find out what was wrong with my site, but didn't provide built-in resources to help fix it.
- (2019-07-02) Jamie Evawin: It's a really nice way of browsing GA hits. So much cleaner than the official GA plugin. However, it's not maintained (most recent commit 2 years ago) and it doesn't actually pick up every hit. I've noticed sometimes I'll click something, the plugin won't show it, but I'll see the event in the network inspector and in GA so I know it fired. It's a shame because this plugin is really nicely designed but without knowing it's picking up every hit, it's almost useless.
- (2019-02-06) Awesome stuff. Couldn't do my job without it. Or I could, but would not want to.
- (2018-10-08) Ferran Buireu: Funciona muy bien. Estéticamente no es gran cosa pero funciona muy bien y reconoce el trackeo.

- (2017-08-25) Filip Larsson: It loads analytics_debug.js instead of analytics.js on any website you visit (and when you have turned the GA Debug to ON). Which means that you can analyze how Google Analytics is implemented without having access to the code on the server. I have used it for many years and it has saved me tons of time. If you are a developer or somehow working with Google Analytics, this plugin is a must for you! But remember to to turn it OFF when you don't need it, since it slows down the loading of the websites you visit (not much, so you won't probably notice it...) I can see from recent reviews that some had trouble to get it to work. Try restarting the browser and turn GA Debug ON and OFF a couple of times and it will work.
- (2017-08-17) rhundolf reyes: i think it' great
- (2017-08-08) Rajan Raj: Doesn't work
- (2017-07-17) Richard Barraclough: Doesn't work.
- (2017-05-29) Lucas Bustamante: It does what it promises. It just lacks some options to show less info, like "Show events only" or something like that, to help debugging events...
