== Speechify text to speech features ==
➤ Listen at any speed
Read up to 4.5x faster — 900 words per minute. Our high-quality AI voices can read 4.5x faster than the average reading speed so that you can learn even more in less time. While it isn’t easy to listen to 900 words per minute, we won’t stop you from achieving your full potential.
➤ Listen on desktop or mobile devices.
Anything you’ve saved to your Speechify library instantly syncs across devices so that you can listen to anything, anywhere, anytime. Saved artifacts are synced to the cloud and accessible across all your devices. Make sure to install our mobile app on your Android or iOS devices.
➤ Human-like voices
Our voices sound more fluid and human-like than any other AI reader, so you can understand and remember more.
➤ Screenshot image to audio
Found an image with text on it? Take a pic and have Speechify read it out loud to you. You can easily take a screenshot and sync it to your cloud with one click.
➤ Floating widget
The floating widget is always accessible when you need it. Move it around, dock it, or completely hide it.
➤ Other features
• Active highlighting to help you easily read along.
• Inline player seamlessly integrates into all your websites for easy and quick access.
• One subscription and easily sync across all your devices.
== How Speechify works ==
• Speechify scans your active tab in your browser and, in real time, converts the content to a most human-sounding voice.
• Works beautifully with Gmail, Google docs, Word docs, PDFs, Twitter, Wikipedia entries, blogs, news publications, and every web page you visit. It’s perfect for school, work, e-learning, learning a second language, and casual reading.
• You can take a picture of any text and import it into the app to read aloud.
With over 130+ voices to choose from across various languages, you can find the perfect one you love. Some voices are very recognizable. Mr. President, for instance, or even the officially licensed Gwyneth Paltrow voice, is one of our users’ favorites.
== Use cases ==
Speechify was first built to serve a single purpose: to help with dyslexia. But the use case for our app with the best-sounding voices exploded. If you love to read, need to read, or struggle with reading, Speechify is for you.

best app ever
Nice
THANK YOU FOR THE HELP VISUAL IMPAIRMENT "LAZY EYE" WITH SPEECHIFY IT'S LIKE EYE-Q TEXT TO READ AND KURTIZWELL BUT BETTER THANK YOU/
Overall game changing software that can really help you to improve your reading exponentially. My ONLY gripe is that it's super glitchy sometimes. The extension will randomly log me out or just stop working for no reason.
I don't know how I ever managed before Speechify came along not only does it read all my documents as I write but it reads PDFs from my hard drive, links from websites and all the books from my Kindle library and that's just a few of it's features. So, you can see why I would never consider unsubscribing!
Everything is good but the robotic voice hurts my ears.
I helped me read more! The auditory helps me comprehend more. I use the Presidential voice as my reader! is very cool! 5-STARS!!!!
Speechify is the best text to speech program I'm using. I'm also happy to see the program has been improving -- though it's hard to integrate/read all those tagged text sometimes. :)
It's perfect for when I'm writing! It's a bit irritating when I have to scroll down myself but it gets through my writing with no problem and I use it to read books I have no time to read myself.
It's good, no stuttering, but it doesn't seem to have automatic scroll so you have to manually do that... which is annoying, at least if you don't shell out the money for however many voices it has... and whatever voice you pick in the beginning doesn't matter at all unless you pay them. At least I haven't had any issues like with the previous read-aloud app, which would just stop and wouldn't be able to start again just because I changed a page.
Love it, such a useful tool, I use it daily
other than the few bugs i've had i love the extension. i wish there was an app for windows 11 and that i could have my audiobooks on my laptop
great natural voice, can be used for any source
I tell everyone I can about Speechify. There is 0% chance I would be able to be a straight A student without it.
I like how helpful it can be, but while in the middle of a project, I have been asked seven times to rate the app. That alone took away a star. I feel it is things like this that are the negatives about the app rather than the app itself when being used and functioning as intended.
Really good voices, especially Gwyneth Paltrow. Also what I really like about it is you can adjust how fast speechify reads for you.
I just started using Speechify as nursing student. I wish speechify was able to pick up the text from ATI modules as well but still I copy paste in chatgpt and it picks it up- good for me. Though I do wish as a student it was slightly more cheaper :) but nonetheless still a good invention haha. Thank u
A blessing for getting more productive in the 21st century.
Very cool. I love it
"Speechify has completely transformed the way I study and absorb information. Whether I'm reading Bengali or English PDFs, this extension allows me to listen and learn with ease. The voices are clear, natural, and customizable, making it perfect for long study sessions. As a medical student, I use it to listen to anatomy and biochemistry notes while multitasking or revising. It even works smoothly on my Poco X3 Pro. I’m truly grateful for this tool—it’s like having a personal reader that never gets tired. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn smarter." > — Dewan Sajeeb
I really enjoy the app but I have two problems which I hope to resolve. One, it only reads one screen at a time then you have click it to read the next page. Two, sometimes the whole programs stops and I have to restart. Still trying to figure it out. Pretty good, so far.
I thought it was going to be like ChatGPT's AI voice, which sounds incredible and natural, and for free. Instead I got the most robotic sounding voices ever, and every other free choices is the exact same. I literally could have just used the basic text-to-speech program rather than this. You have to go to premium to get even just one. So, no, I don't recommend this, at least for the free users. I'm immediately removing this and deleting my Speechify profile (which was required), and look for a better alternative.
So good! Brings work to life when you can listen to what you type out. Speeds up workflow. Feels good working along side the Former President of the United States 😉 (Choice of voice: Obama). Aids my concentration considerably! I am also finding my quality of writing has improved as I can hear what I want to type. Highly recommend!
This is by far my go to software for reading aloud. Im a Henry fan lol but anywayz...you can purchase amazing books, read downloaded material from websites, read the actual website, and read from practically anything that has words. The voice is so amazing i deleted google books....sorry google im still team google but these voices are just soothing and helpful to a truck driver like myself.....speechify helps me get through the long hauls and long lonely nights. I cant wait to make my next book purchase!
Far from perfect, but massively helpful to cover large amounts of text.
Very cool extension, works as advertised :)
Works well enough for what it is. I'm a very slow reader and this speeds me up considerably.
Great, helpful, extreme time saver and helps me understand content faster than reading alone. Sometimes does not work on certain sites or pages that are scanned.
It's fire and it's super helpful especially with my studying for the LSAT, I love it.
I honestly don't know how to STAR you. Until last week, the Speechify was my favorite app. I depend on it to access my email, as I have limited sight. It always worked,. It is awesome. And then . . . The past three days the system has not been available. It shows an ! and stops. I've not had this happen before, and it is really irritating. Please either fix it or let me know how I can. Thansk. Sorry to leave this message here, but I cannot find a way to access service--that is another black mark. Glenda Eoyang [email protected])
Though not without the odd glitch, when on Chrome (the iOS apps are stronger IMO), this is an asset for many. The John Rhys-Davies voice is a stunner for me while reading fiction.
It won't work. It keeps telling me to log in to use the feature even though I am logged in
An amazing asset, especially for college kids with a lot of textbooks to read, I mainly use it when um driving, doing laundry, cleaning, or just have a task I can listen to something while I do it. It has a hard time distinguishing between what needs to be read and what doesn't in certain textbooks, but the photocapture option fixes that.
This si not a fad. Though sometimes glitchy, Speechify is a game changer for data consumption. Speechify is on par with AI as a tool which helps us close the gap in a world where information is a comodity.
Been using this for years and it has been great! In the past few months, it has been extremely glitchy and has barely worked. What's going on?? During the most crucial time of my life (college) it decides to stop working,
Works great. I've been very happy with the features.
Very Good Extension for hearing text to voice.
Bottom line first: Speechify is very helpful for people struggling with ADHD, Dyslexia, or other issues that make it hard to read unassisted. I got this app 2-3 years ago while in school and found it to be a life saver, it has truly boosted how much I can read. ADHD makes it hard for me to read a paragraph without needing to keep rereading the text, due to visual or mental wandering. To this day I am still impressed that this app can read just about ANYTHING with options to upload various file types (pdf, epub, jpeg), read a web page directly, or scanning text from any of these sources INCLUDING taking pictures in app (via camera or screenshot) and having the app read it back to you. When I first got this app the enunciation of words by the AI voices was not impressive and it sounded very clunky but over the last few years, the Speechify team has done an amazing job upgrading the voices to sound way more human. I love the cross platform functionality. I use it on my phone, tablet, and desktop PC. The premium subscription does feel a bit costly for what it is, but it's the best e-reader app/extension on the market and a life saver for people with ADHD who struggle to read articles so it's worth the annual fee IMO. There are some glitches here and there, and the app struggles with weird formatting but it's definitely been improving noticeably. My only other concerns are ethical surrounding the usage of AI, and data privacy. Gonna sound like a bleeding heart liberal as some might say so feel free to move on if this doesn't interest you... Now I understand Speechify uses CSPs like AWS for their AI functionality and AI is essential to how this type of tool learns, however the in-app AI features like having AI summarize text does raise concern related to the rising electricity costs and environmental decay in the USA caused by AI data centers and how Speechify may be contributing to it... and I also have concerns regarding the ethical use of these tools, scammers have been using voice cloning tools for a while now so it's not new but tools like Speechify make it easier to conduct certain types of scams. What is speechify doing to combat misuse of their tools? I love this tool and would love to see Speechify taking a stand on some of these more sensitive topics.
great for studying
I love how it takes a couple of seconds to analyze the article and generate in just a few seconds a wait calculating how long the article will take to finish reading. Thank you :) this is going to help me a lot with all my reading in college
Speechify has come a long way since it was first introduced! Excellent voices, bringing forth the words in a understandable way, with a good cadence, and with a choice of accents. It helps me read, learn, and rest my eyes!
Absolutely love it! I'm just sorry I didn't find you sooner!
Speechify has allowed me to work on my Educational Doctorate with more ease. I struggle to stay focused while reading difficult content, and Speechify makes it easier to listen and follow along on the computer. I also use it to listen in the car while driving to work. This maximizes my time. Later, I skim the content again and summarize, but having already heard the material makes the summarizing that much easier.
This first time I have used a program such as this. I'm not very good at computers but wow! AI sure has made a difference. You Need to try this program.
it's amazing help me a lot.
Speechify is a great tool and is really, really helpful.
it's just what I needed
Rarely. Ever. Works. It's beyond painful.
So far ive been loving it. Some sites like libraries do not allow the feature. But this has been very helpful in my daily life.
The extension is good, even for the free version. I am planning to take the paid one soon. It's a must buy to raise productivity!
