Great extension! I wish there was a lifetime premium option available. It's also a bit pricey. Quality human-like voices though. I recommend it for college students or if you're tired of robotic voices already. I will say, this thing gets it's job done. It's simple, it's effective, and it's functional. It's job is to read to the viewer what is on the screen, and it does just that with no extra fluff. My only real complaint is less than that and more of confusion. Why would a reading extension need a premium? I, guess it's to pay the developers.

good, its good, i just wanted the popup out of here, but yeah, i guess its really good👍🏿

This app has made my reading much simpler and more effective. It has taken care of my laziness and procrastination on reading items and articles.

A great choice if you like waiting for endless buffering. It's great when it works, but unfortunately that's rare.

As someone with ADHD, sitting down to read a long article is a real challenge. Speechify solves that. Listening to the text while highlighting keeps my mind from wandering. It's like having a reading assistant that ensures I actually absorb the information. This extension is more than a tool; it's an accommodation that truly works.

Does what it's supposed to very very useful, just a little expensive wish downloading took less time too.
Anonymous
I use it while I am at work to proof read my manuscripts its a major help.

It does not NEARLY work as easily, seemlessly, across applications, as the marketing bombards you to think. It works, in places, and when it does, it is convenient, but not reliable, fast, or easy. It is not yet an application that justifies its cost. Having to upload everything into it from a file storage is a big ask and is definitely not the "one click" as it so boastfully claims. The app version works better than the laptop extension, which should really be the other way around. The need for a gimicky book reader app is unimportat when you can download audio books, theres a blatant redundancy. Threre IS a need to read dense documentaion on laptops and computers without having to take a picture of, every.., single.., page.., save it.., and hope it could render the page.., and read it. There's work to be done but it can be usefull. Sometimes

Helps my ADHD brain when studying.

Lifechanging app for academic reading. I don't think I could do my masters without this thing. Just tried the chrome browser extension today, works great! The only missing piece is direct zotero communication/sync and voice annotation :D that would be worth 6 stars

Excellent app!

I don't think i can read books for learning any other way now. This is so awesome and increases my productivity 100 x

It has helped me tremendously with getting on and reading all the work I have to do as a Uni student.

This app helps me focus on what I'm reading. The voice feature keeps me engaged with the text and prevents distractions. Simple but effective.

Going back to collage at 40 years old was a challenge and I also struggled with focus. This application has been amazing.

As a dyslexic on entrepreneur, I would say this is easily one of the top 3 AI softwares when building the first entrepreneurship as a service platform for kids (startup marketing plug--> www.minorchores.com). Couldn't speak more highly of it!
Anonymous
It's very good.

Not for people who need to rely on it as it often does not work and you have to have good eyesight to fix it (making it not disability friendly which is it's big claim). If you aren't relying on it or have a backup, the voices are great. Reading a book on kindle is really stilted and with weird merged words or cut offs. Not a great choice for people with eyesight difficulties...lots better options.

I speak 3 languages and teach ESL students. I love, love not having to read aloud all day. It's exhausting. I even recorded my own voice to read to my students. THANK YOU SPEECHIFY!

Superrrrr helpful! Especially for school with ebooks that are pdfs and don't have a read-aloud feature.

I am a dyslexic and this software is a godsend. It is exactly what I've been looking for. Easy to use and easy to listen to.

nice app

It is so surreal when Snoop is reading my scientific articles :) love the app, it is truly a game changer for me. It is easy to access, navigate and saves me tremendous amount of time. I am a slow reader, so to have an option where the app reads to me and I can just follow the text speed my professional workflow and helps with grad school research.

It would be perfect, if you give more free voices beside the default ones from Microsoft

Awesome app. Great voices. A real time saver and great for multi-tasking

Excellent voice

Good app, a little pricy but I do like that it has a range of voices to choose from. It can sometimes say words weridly (not pronounce them well) but overall great much better than trying to read, it helps me listen when I am doing mum chores. I would like to use it across all my devices but I think that's more of a technical issue revolving around me being tech illiterate

this makes my reading way easier, I mean listening!! great app, the free voice is good enough to me

Doesnt work....

This extension is good. The UI is good, the voices are good. However, there is no option to control the volume. This is a significant oversight, as volume control is a standard expectation for this kind of extension.

I don't even know what to say 😂😂😂

This is an awesome app with tremendous potential--keep the improvements coming. A fifth star awaits if you can add the ability to more seamlessly switch to the next unread article. This feature would be helpful when listening in my car, which is where I do most of my reading/listening.

A little pricey, but can be a lifesaver for ADHD brains. I'm in nursing school and Speechify helps me read so much faster. I can listen to my textbooks while doing other things like folding laundry. Sometimes it can pronounce words a little funny, but it's wayyy better than the traditional monotone robot voice.
Anonymous
really good, helps when i have reading fatigue - i'm dyslexic

Great extension which I think might be becoming obsolete with all the different platforms incorporating their own AI speech outputs. Still, best one I've found so far!

It's a great help for someone with ADHD, however there is room for improvement. I love it when it works! There is an option where you can record your own voice and reading style and it will save it and you can listen to yourself read out aloud. Pretty cool!! I also like that you can upload a text when you log in online on the computer, and it will read that to you. It's very expensive especially for a student. Sometimes it reads brackets and commas and footings even though I coughed up $135, if I remember correctly that's how much I paid and think it's not a one time fee but annually, and sometimes it just doesn't want to read for me, it's very finicky, or it starts at the wrong place. And I just had to update my password to be able to log in so I wouldn't have to listen to a robot reading for me. Sometimes it is very time consuming to make her read what I want or where I want her to start, oh yes, I like to have Gwyneth Paltrow read for me, or Francesca from Great Britain with her British accent. And it doesn't read certain websites, like my nursing school website Sherpath, or the quiz questions, I wish it did. Taking a picture of my text book so it will read it for me is a great idea, but it's very hard to take a good picture of the pages of the nursing textbook, it won't read the entire line where the pages are bind together, impossible to include that curve in the picture, it is more like a scanner and it will cut off what's in the curve of a very thick book, but it will include the pictures on the page and will read the not so important words under the pictures, or table 42, or box 35.

I like this application however its very expensive if you want to use it extensively.

The AI voice needs to learn more words because some of them sound almost too weird to understand so I have to watch the screen to make sure that I know what they're trying to say.
Anonymous
Excellent tool and Intuitive to use. It is boosting my efficiency while listening to articles on my wireless headphones while away from the computer, and at the gym when I'm working out. It's like an audiobook or audible but with more diverse content/format/upload options. Happy with their customer support team as well. I'm really enjoying it.
Anonymous
Sure, it makes learning fun and very helpful
Anonymous
Use it all the time. Some of the voices are monotonic and need careful selection. It would be nice to have a function to clone your own voice and speaking style.
Anonymous
I would be unable to complete my masters program without it. ADHD and dyslexic this toll has completely change how I engage academically. I give it a 4.5/5 as there is always room for improvement but overall love Speechify.
Anonymous
It's alright

I really do enjoy using Speechify. There are some challenges in reading certain texts and being able to distinguish numbers (years, money, etc.) and it does not always recognise all texts within the document. I got the paid version so that I can have full benefits and overall, I am satisfied. It really makes reading long text for work and school or casual reading, no longer an unwelcomed task.

10/10, as someone with (possible) ADHD, this has really helped me out.
